Tuesday Chick Chat

Morning chicks thought I would get us started off. Hope all the Canadian chicks had a great Thanksgiving. We had dh grandmother over for supper. I didn't eat to much for a change, but that was more due to the fact that I over indulged with Vodka Sunday Night. I am sure there are a few pictures. I was doing fine til I decided I needed one for the road. I will pop back in later need to get the kids ready for school. Have a great day.

MVTC96 10-11-2005 07:26 AM

Good Morning All! :) Its A New day! Not to warm here in IL. Hope you all are warmer. Just wanted to say have a great day to all the chicks out there! :dizzy:

Ruthxxx 10-11-2005 07:40 AM

Dashing through! I need to have my little Focus to the dealer by eight for it's pre-winter maintenance. It feels like winter is coming for sure this morning! The Girls are cuddled together on the couch in the back room. I think that's a hint to start using the woodstove!
Back later - save me some coffee, OK?

wenchybritches 10-11-2005 08:17 AM

Seems we are all dashing thru. Its 7 and I got just got up. TOM is no fun when you are plagued by cramps and sleepiness. Might be a 2 coffee cup day.
We are doing comparison quotes at work. (I HATE, HATE, HATE comparision quotes). You have to call a set number of other companies, to get a rate and then compare it to ours. ICK. We only had to do it once a year, but I have done them 3 times out here. Did I mention I hate these? :dizzy:

Had lunch and veggies for lunch yesterday, but it wasnt enough. I shoulda known too. Soup never fills me up. So its more veggies or a piece of bread to go with soup today. :)

LC-I do that with wine sometimes.....

Morning MVTC and Ruth!!!

friendsforfitness 10-11-2005 08:18 AM

Good Morning!

:coffee2: Saving Ruth some coffee. I have a few errands to run, some chores to do and most importantly spend some play time with Gage. (He's in my avitar)

I have a question on the rules of wine in phase 2. Is it 1-2 glasses a day? 1-2 glasses a week? or better yet, 1-2 glasses a meal?? Just kidding on that last one! LOL!

Thanks,
Lisa

pearshape 10-11-2005 08:32 AM

Morning chicks!! How's everyone this morning. Looks like we've got a few new chicks on the beach this morning! Welcome.

Well, today I will be in the woods again!! Yesterday was gorgeous, although at the end my dog decided we hadn't been out there long enough and I had to chase her down to get her in the truck! Brat girl!! The leaves aren't turning yet but you can definitely feel fall in the air.

I think I'll stay on P1 a few days longer. I was supposed to end Sunday but it's actually working this time so I may extend it until Thursday. P2 is always nerve wracking. Hope I don't screw it up.

Have a great day, chicks!!

kyemom 10-11-2005 08:37 AM

Morning Chicks!!! I need some help here...I have to write an argument paper for my English Comp class...Any ideas? She said we can not use the old stand bys like teenage pregnancy, gun control, depression, or cloning. I am at a loss.
Anyway, I am doing well...Down another pound, feeling good about that. DS has a football game tonight, hoping they will cancel..hahaha...Came prepared with my food today, so should be ok. How is everyone's sand feeling today?

pearshape 10-11-2005 09:09 AM

Kyemom: Are there any other current social issues you feel strongly about? Maybe watch the news a few nights to get some ideas. Do you have any feelings towards the recent hurricane events? The war? Womens rights? The new supreme court judges? Oh, what about the fact that in some states they are removing the junk food vending machines from schools? What about companies advertising junk food to children? Or you could do an argument for or against the recent diet trends...high carb, low carb...etc....at least you'd be sort of familiar with the topic ;) !!

I know how hard it is to pick a topic to write about. I have to write a paper on micro vs. macro evolution and the controversy in the non-science community about it. Before that I had to narrow my original topic of the debate between creationism and evolution. The professor said it was to0 broad. And he was right. After all, how do you compare science with non-science? They have nothing to do with each other at all. It's always interesting to me how the first people to criticize science are non-scientists. I mean, would an accountant go tell and engineer how to build a better bridge?? Don't think so! Geesh...I hate writing, so much to think about! :D

Good luck, I'll need the same in the upcoming weeks!

JessieW 10-11-2005 09:11 AM

Kye, never noticed you were from Powhatan! I grew up in Richmond, lived there until August 04! :) You could argue whether companies should be allowed to put "low carb" on their products when there are no regulations for it!! LOL. What about politics? Something about the new Supreme Court Justice? There seems to be a lot of issues surrounding her nomination.

I was an English major, I will keep thinking for you!!! :-D

Still under the weather today, but the Sudafed seems to be kicking in, and I am feeling better. Just achy because I didn't sleep very well at all last night. The stupid bugs are still all over my kitchen...if the apartment doesn't come spray for them today I am going to tear my hair out, seriously. I haven't been able to cook because these bugs are EVERYWHERE. Including all over my poor pup and we have no idea what they are.

Off to do some work! Maybe. Be back later.

Jessie

pioneerprincess 10-11-2005 09:21 AM

I'm up two pounds from yesterday. :( I was so close to the 100s I feel like such a loser.

friendsforfitness 10-11-2005 09:23 AM

I'm from Richmond too! I lived in Powhatan for a year when I was in third grade. We moved from Richmond to Florida about 10 years ago.

Barb0522 10-11-2005 09:25 AM

Good morning, gals! I'm working from home today but have lots of meetings and stuff scheduled. I'll pop in when I can. Tonight is a Cub Scout Committee meeting. We get to plan the campout for less than 2 weeks from now. I wonder what beltloops we will be teaching? I usually teach something like Map and Compass or Volleyball.

Ruth - I drive a Focus too! I have a station wagon. It works great for camping trips. I wondered how it would handled the cold (but since I avoid the cold like the plague, I haven't wondered too hard).

Little Chick - Good morning. You know I knew it was Canadian Thanksgiving yesterday but didn't know it was Columbus Day until I asked DH where the mail was?

MVTC96 - It is beautiful here in Dallas. We might get a bit of rain but there is a nice Fall nip to the air. Maybe this months electric bill won't be so bad. Last month the average high temperature was 96!

wenchy - if I add enough veggies then soup fills me up. If it doesn't have a lot of veggies then I just eat more of the broth. I'm making soup for dinner tonight, I just have to decide if I am making Black Bean Soup with Ham or Hearty Pasta and Bean soup.

friends - The GFGC book lists wine as good and mentions having it with meals. I would think 1-2 a day would be okay but maybe someone else can confirm. Wine does still have calories so you wouldn't want too much.

pearshape - I already miss the woods! I can't wait to go camping with Scouts again in a couple of weeks.

kyemom - How about a paper on the safety of artificial sweeteners? I know that is a controversial topic. I wrote a paper in high school about the safety of saccharin back when the research didn't feel it was safe. How about a paper on whether evolution should be the only thing taught in public schools? There are lots of topics if you brainstorm.

KO 10-11-2005 09:27 AM

Just a quickie
I'm down 2!
Kye what about arguing Fat Acceptance as a societal issue
You can take the side of Acceptance or argue that those individuals (while being accepted) should be encouraged to pursue a healthy Lifestyle
PioneerPRincess YOU WILL BE A LOSER The best kind of Loser Chin up love

Hollyhock 10-11-2005 09:31 AM

I am up to 233 after the turkey fest. OP so far today.
So far so good!
Okay, so i got up a bit earlier. Spent a solid 15 min sitting with my kids cuddling, talking, ate my breakfast, got the kids fed,DS is off to school, 7 kids here right now and for the day,5 outside chasing leaves ,2 toddlers toddling.....
I do need time to sort out my thoughts and plans for the day.
Chores: clean bathroom, finish dishes ,sweep floor
Work:make follow up calls for Avon, make flyer for Farmers market
Church: email some info to secretary
School council: follow up on handbook, write out some thoughts from discussions before I forget
Food:stew made for lunches, turkey stock to freeze, turkey meat to freeze

A nice easy quiet day! Really!

Kyemom~My latest crusade is complacency. People who ***** and chew and complain and are not accountable for their own actions or following through on their own beliefs/complaints. I think it is an epidemic. We always have a choice. So go out on a limb and do what feels right even if it is not the norm, popular etc. Stop blaming others and be accountable, empathetic, accepting......

beach bum 10-11-2005 09:42 AM

kyemom 10-11-2005 09:54 AM

Wow girls, thanks for all of the ideas!! I do have to do some research and have to cite some works...so I will be making a decision today!!!

Ruthxxx 10-11-2005 10:37 AM

Holy Smokes! I leave for a couple of hours and look at this!

Sorry I don't have time to comment a lot but it's really nice to see so many folks and our new folks posting!

I love my car dealer! He handed me a coffee as soon as I got there - milk and sweetener plus the Ottawa paper! They fixed a problem with the wipers that I wasn't going to mention. I just love personal service. Now if he's just give me that lifesize cutout of Wayne Gretsky for my bedroom, I could die happy!

I am definitely going to vaccuum my downstairs this morning and will be making broccoli soup for lunch. It's cold and drizzling and a good morning to cozy in! Lighting the woodstove will be my reward after I get some work done!

Catch y'all later!

soon2Bfab 10-11-2005 10:45 AM

Good Morning everyone!!!
Ruthie: You are too cute....Wayne Gretsky =) I'm glad your wipers are fixed!!
Kye - good luck on the paper!!
Princess - be patient....it will come off.
Oh crap...maintence guy is here to fix the dishwasher....see ya later

Hollyhock 10-11-2005 11:11 AM

Avon calls done, a few new orders...7 kids romped for 2 hours outside, now playing with cars in the basement. Lunch is soon and then 3 nap!!!

I will make those breakfast muffin with some turkey, cheese veg in them. I need quick food when feeding the minions.

Breathing. I may have to pick up some decaf coffee. I LOVE the warmth, the taste but I dont need the caffeine, hmmmmm.2 real coffee in the morning and then decaf later in the day for the comfort. I do drink tons of water too.

HUGS chicks.

djett626 10-11-2005 11:30 AM

Hi ladies,

I missed you. I admit it. I strayed from the beach this weekend, but I have my feet back in the sand! I had a stressful weekend and it just kept getting more stressful. I kept my neice for my brother, so I had a 3 and 4 year old everywhere I went. It was hard, but if I can't handle that I don't know why I think I can have a second one of my own. I couldn't go to the gym b/c of my neice (they won't take them in kidkare unless they are your own). So, we just played outside when the weather was nice. As soon as I get a chance. I am back at the gym!

I weighed today to see what damage the weekend had done to me. But, no loss/no gain. So I can't complain. Especially since TOM should be here at anytime.

I hope everyone is having a good day!

Sweet Tea 10-11-2005 11:37 AM

Pioneer Princess -- Don't beat yourself up girlie!! Those 2 lbs are gonna be a faint memory in no time and you'll wonder what you were so worried for. ((((BIg Hugs))) You can do it. Increase your water today if you have not been drinking enough, eat your veggies, and just hold on. You are worth the effort!!

Well, I'm also kinda just flying by today. I've got a friend from Jacksonville coming up today for a few days and I still have to straighten up the house a bit. I have been op and plan on staying op while she is here. She eats very similarly now so it should be no big deal. I will be nice to have her here and to have the kids distracted too :D.

Hugs-n-love to all!! I'll be back around later.

RNMOM 10-11-2005 12:11 PM

Hiya

A quick dash through, I still need to get ready for class, I just got back from my run.....I wonder if anyone would mind if I went sweaty. TOM is a real plague right now, pretty miserable.........(don't need any of you guys wine, I've got plenty of whine of my own)

Anyway, hugs to all!

WinterWonder 10-11-2005 01:19 PM

I'm really having trouble sticking to the diet still. I haven't cheated, but I think about cheating constantly. I can do this, though. I just wish my family could be a little more understanding. They invited me out for pizza today. *frowns*

Gryffgirl 10-11-2005 01:27 PM

Hey ladies. It's been a while since I have been around, so I thought I'd stop in. I'm trying South Beach again (and again, and again...) and I'm doing alright. Only day 2 of Phase I though. Hopefully, I can stick to it. I usually do so well then a week or so in, I'm back to the junk food. Ah well, we'll see!

Kyemom- The only idea I had when I read your paper assignment was society's view of women and their weight. Maybe you could argue the horrors of the Pro Ana community and the lengths women will go to stay in the public op of beautiful? For the counter argument, explain the health bens of being NOT a skeleton. I teach English (albeit high school), if you want to PM me any ideas you want to throw at someone, don't hesitate to ring me up.

The rest of you ladies have a great day!
