G'Morning girls, :coffee:
I'm sore this morning! I did a little extra exertion with my Firm workout yesterday and I sure feel it this morning! It's a GOOD sore, though....oh yeah! I started logging my food into Fitday.com just yesterday...man, I wish I had been doing that all along. It's just amazing how quickly calories rack up when I'm being ignorant about them. I was a little surprised, though...the site says that for my height, weight and activity level that my body burns about 3300 calories a day!! That means that I had to be eating way more than that per day to get as overwheight as I am! :yikes: I've decided to try and aim for a 1500 calorie deficit every day, which should net me around 2-3 pounds a week. I really think that seeing the numbers will help keep me accountable for my progress...I know it's sure worked with the exercise. I haven't weighed in a long time. I'm not sure what I'm waiting for...I do feel smaller, but have been dealing with compulsive daily weighing while dieting for many years now. I guess I just feel I need to work on the real aspects of being healthy rather than the numbers on that d@mned scale! I've also found that if I see myself losing weight rapidly that I tend to slack off a bit on my efforts...sort of like self sabotage. Funny thing happened yesterday. I was in the middle of my workout when the mailman rang the bell. Well, I was totally into it and was not about to quit moving to go answer that door! I have a glass door so I knew he could see me...and I just kept right on going. I looked at him and waved, he gave me a 'thumbs up' and went away. He came back an hour later with the package I had to sign for and actually complimented me by saying, "Looks like that exercise is paying off, val...you look great!" :cb: Have a great day, chicas! |
Awesome Val...you go girl...I am so proud of you...Wish I had you hootspah!
|
Val~What a wonderful complement from your mailman. You go girl :bravo:

Morning All!
It's still (barely) morning in Minnesota, and I am glad that I was able to sneak a couple of minutes to say "HI!" Valerie910: Is the postman cute? Sorry, had to ask! Good luck with with the 1500 a day. I don't think I could survive on that, but more power to you. Roxy55: Good Morning and Welcome! Sweet Tooth: My heart goes out to you! I cannot imagine how angry I would feel at the seniors home! May you have good memories of your mother the rest of your life! Kyemom: Rock climbing! Wow! You are a lot more brave than I will ever be. Ruth: Hope you are feeling better. Hope to hear from you soon. Beachgal: I love the idea of working out AND reading at the same time. Dinner sounds great! Can I come over? Beach bum: Canasta - my favorite game in the world. Enjoy! 2BFIT1: Good luck with the back splash! Pearshape: Glad you had a good time at the fair! An indescretion or two won't kill you. It may slow you down a little, but just get right back PO and you'll be fine. djett626: A massage! I am sooooo jealous. Nothing more wonderful and relaxing. Little Chick: Hope your arm feels better very soon! Schatzi: Thanks for the encouragement. Have fun with the unpacking. It's a good thing to take some time off, though. Glad you did. As for me, I lost another pound! I should really update my signature, but that will have to wait. Soccer again tonight, and Cub Scout Committee meeting tomorrow night! It's amazing that we find time to sleep! Have a great day on the beach! |
Barb - Is the postman cute?? LOL...OF COURSE HE IS!! That's why it was such a noteworthy occurance  I have my own specialty website and have lots of sales every day...he comes to pick up my packages daily and will even ring my bell if there are no packages just to make sure I didn't forget to put them out. He's younger...probably early 30's. We've always flirted...he's never told me I look great before, though...OH MY! No worries, though....I'm blissfully happy with my 6'5" Nordic DBF:cloud9:
Ohhh...and Barb, I'm going for a 1500 calorie deficit from what my body uses each day, not a diet of 1500 calories. Based on my body burning 3300 a day based on my height, weight and activity level that leaves me with about an 1800 calorie daily diet. |
Shoot, I just ran out of thinset for the backsplash! I took a quick pic of it and posted it on my webshots site. It will look better once it is grouted but you'll get the idea.
http://community.webshots.com/user/rnsilvia It's in the "Kitchen Items and Closeups" album but you are all welcome to brouse through my other almums (garden, furbabies, etc). |
Hey all! Just got a minute between tending to the boys so thought I would pop in to say HI!
I am in day 2 of having a very unhappy teething little one. Nothing is working to help his discomfort so far except Momma cuddles. I've got a washcloth in the freezer now getting cold for him to hopefully chew on. I forgot how fussy a teething baby can get. With all this cuddling it has been hard to eat at regular intervals. Am I donig ok as long as I eat something every 3 to 4 hours??? Schatzi -- What do you think of the Dark Tower books??? For some reason I always held off on reading the series but this winter I read them all and I loved every minute. Now I'm finishing the new Harry Potter. With the kids I'm only getting 15 mnutes here and there to read :(. 2BFIT1 -- WOW your kitchen is beautiful!!! What a great job :D thank you for sharing your pics. Val -- your postman encounter today made me giggle :) -- thank you! Barb -- YooHoo!! way to go on the new lost lb! Have fun at the soccer game. Did you make it to the scout meeting yesterday that you wanted to attend? Roxy55 -- Have a great time tonight!! You'll have to tell us about it tomorrow :) Sweet Tooth -- I am so sorry about your Mom. Has the home made any attempt to apologize or explain their neglect of your mom? Seems like someone should be in big trouble there. My symapthies go out to you. Kyemom-- Way to go on the rock climbing! What a daring daughter you have. that's awesome! Ruthxxx -- Hope your day has gone smoothly! Beach Bum-- Cheers on the relaxing day :D Artemis -- let us know how the dentist went. I am terrified of going myself. :( I hope it was a breeze. LC -- glad the soreness is better. Bummer about all the bruising though :( Mamacita - Howdy! Hope you have had a good say too. Dana -- I'm jealous of that massage -- have an awesome time Pearshape-- just the thought of a carnaval ride after a few beers is making me sick to my tummy :(. Was it a great view up there? Beach Gal - can I have some of your dinner tonight :D it sounds great! |
sweet tea - I was the Barb that had a Scout Rally yesterday. And, yes, I did make it there. It was a nonstop hectic day but I got a break and made it.
Barb1037 - Are you on your Cub Scout Pack committee too? I'm the committee secretary as well as the Assistant Den Leader for the Bear's. Tonight we have School Night for Scouting. We had lots of kids interesting in scouting during the rally yesterday. Hopefully lots will show up tonight. Our den has 11 boys but we can always use more. |
Well, I just bought the book again on Ebay. I think I told you but I stupidly sold mine at a yard sale!! I ended up paying $10 for a copy on ebay. I didn't want the paperback version which I knew I could buy for around $7 new. I need to reread the book. I haven't even looked at it in a year or more.
I will be starting the diet on Friday. I had already planned meals for this week and purchased the groceries. Sooo, it will have to wait until Friday. Sweet tooth- my condolences. Also, glad you got back on the wagon! You have done a great job on the weight loss! Keep up the good work. The same goes for everyone! Keep up the great work. You are really motivating me to start exercising more!! |

Barb0522 - Yup! I am a First Year Webelos Den Leader. I've been doing this since my oldest son was a Tiger! I was a Committee Chair for a while, but stepped down because I was a Tiger Leader and a First Year Webelos Leader all at the same time. Too Much! :(
We are having our "Join Scouting Night" next week at our School Open House. We're getting the pictures together and creating the "Activities Board" later this week. I'm busy planning out the next few months of patrol meetings (We're the Sharks!). Friday we are doing a local fund raiser serving hotdogs, brats, hamburgers, etc. to raise $$ for the Pack. When I read your post about your rally, it made me think about what the next week would bring for our Pack. 11 boys in a den! Whoa! And you want to add more? You are an ambitious woman - you must have a lot of energy, too! I have 6 in my den, and that is plenty! Yours in Scouting! |
Hi Ladies:)
Just got back for our canaster :joker: card game.We play for a score of 5000 pts. When we play we try to solve all the worlds problem:chin:,but of course never  succeed. I was good when it came to the goodys,I stayed on the beach:beach: with 2 glasses of iced water and 2 c of mixed fruit. Hugs :) BB |
Candy - the paperback is a new revised version of the book with more up to date food lists. If you are using the hardback, make sure you have the updated food lists from the FAQ section.
sweet tea - At our rally, we brought some large posters that I had make up with blown up pictures of cub scout events. We brought a small tent and six different Pinewood Derby cars. Then they bring in all the first through fifth graders and we get them all excited with lots of cheers. We basically drill in to them when the actual School Night for Scouting is (tonight at 7). Wow, Barb! You have lots of experience. I'm just an assistant but I work really closely with our den leader. We're having our first den meeting this Saturday and doing lots of outdoor activities (will complete one achievement) and a small part of the rope/knots achievement. Four of us from our Pack are going to Wood Badge leadership training for 3 days in Sept and 3 in Oct. I'm getting my backpack packed and breaking in my hiking boots now. Hopefully the weather will be cooler by then. Our den has always been around 10 or 11 boys. My leader and I have talked about splitting it if we get more than a couple more but the problem is my son won't be separated from her son which would then mean one of us would not have our son in our den. So we'll just keep a large group :) The more the merrier! |
