I'm Having A Craving!!

ARRRGGGHHH! :yikes:

Alright I am just thinking out loud here. I have eaten my lunch and had some jello.

Okay, I can make it through this! I have had my mid afternoon snack and I need another class of water.

I can do this!

Can you brush your teeth? Sometimes that helps me, brush my teeth and drink a glass of water. Sort of tells my mouth that I'm done eating.

Good idea! I brush my teeth at night when I am feeling that way.

I had an early afternoon snack (cheese stick). I also, had some Crystal Light in my water. I am feeling much better now. :)

You can do it! I agree with brushing your teeth to help. In fact, grab a box of Crest Whitestrips and wrap your teeth in them :)

It also helps to do something that takes your mind off of food - and your mouth, lol. Go outside and weed the flower garden. Walk the dog. Go window shopping. I try to find something really constructive to do, such as organizing my closet or cleaning out my drawers, or scrubbing the bathroom.

Suzanne, those are great suggestions!

I definitely swear by the old trick of drinking a large glass of water. If you still have the craving after that, feed it, but only with veggies. If you find you don't want veggies, in my experience, it's not a physical craving and you can just ignore it. :)

Good for you on getting through this! :cp:

How'd it go, Dana? I hope you had a good day :) Avoiding giving in to cravings can be tricky at first, but after you've done it successfully a few times, you'll be surprised at how much less often you get them. Your body will get used to the newer, healthier way of eating. It's kind of like quitting smoking. The cravings eventually go away :)

Well yesterday before dinner I drank a glass of water with 2 tablespoons of vinegar in it.... almost could not eat my dinner cause that was nasty! That is a sure way to make your cravings go.....

Did you use apple cider vinegar? My parents swear by the healing powers of apple cider vinegar. A cough and cold requires you to drink AC vinegar with some honey in hot water. I still do it just because that's what I'm used to, but now I subsitute a packet or 2 of splenda. After awhile you get used to the taste  but for some reason my husband won't sleep in the same room with me when I'm drinking it. He says I smell like vinegar.

I've not tried it as an appetite suppressant. I can imagine it would work in a yucky sort of way.

Yes it was apple cider and I just added it to water. The more water the less potent it is to get down. But, it's worth it if it helps me loose weight! I did not do it this a.m. though... something about vinegar for breakfast! ICK!!

I have a hard time with acidic stuff myself, although I love sour things (like pickles). Hiatal hernias run in the family, and although I haven't seen a dr to find out if I have one, I have the same symptoms the other women in my family had. So I guess vinegar is not for everyone!
