Minute Maid Light Drinks

Need help ladies. Being on P1, I need to know if this drink is ok.

Minute Maid Light Mango Tropical (Non-Carbonated)

Calories=10
Total Carbs= 2g
Sugar= 1g

If anyone hasn't tried it, its awesome! ;) :yes:

jenne1017 06-05-2005 03:38 PM

I don't think it is -- I stick to Crystal Light Morning Sunrise or whatever it is called. I know has no sugar in it...

When P2 rolls around for you jenn, try it. Its good. HB might even like it too.
You can usually catch the 12-pks on sale at the grocery store. Amen for sales!!!

I love, love, love, the lemonade flavor, but DH does too! :lol: Anyway, the lemonaide is only 5 cal. and 0 g. Sugars (but 2 g. carbs) Just my 2cents.

good to know

I see Minute Maid and it throws me off

You need to look at the ingredients. Make sure there is no fruit juice or anything else that is not allowed.

wenchybritches 06-05-2005 10:11 PM

The drinks only contain 3% juice.
How bad is that???

jenne1017 06-06-2005 10:03 AM

Bad if you are on Phase 1 and I believe any phase -- from what I remember reading, you should EAT fruit rather than drink the juice alone...

Ruthxxx 06-06-2005 10:47 AM

Dead on, Jenn1017! Beachgal would agree. Even a bit of fructose can trigger cravings and screw up detox.

Ruthxxx 06-06-2005 10:51 AM

From the Minute Maid Website: Here are the ingredients:
Quote:

MINUTE MAID LIGHT LEMONADE CONTAINS PURE FILTERED WATER, LEMON JUICE FROM CONCENTRATE, LESS THAN 2% OF: VITAMIN C (ASCORBIC ACID), NATURAL FLAVORS, CITRIC ACID (PROVIDES TARTNESS) POTASSIUM CITRATE, GLYCEROL ESTER OF WOOD ROSIN, MODIFED CORN STARCH, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, ASPARTAME, ACESULFAME POTASSIUM.
The bolded items are not allowed on South Beach except in very small quantities in later Phases.

jenne1017 06-06-2005 12:46 PM

YAY! I got something right ;)

:lol:

mamaeli 06-06-2005 12:49 PM

:(

wenchybritches 06-06-2005 07:38 PM

Double darn it! And I bought 3 12-pks the day 2 days before I started SB. :tantrum:

beachgal 06-07-2005 01:20 PM

Yeah...they look good, but they're not. Try to stay away from anything with corn syrup in it. It's a big trigger. Even sugar (or dextrose) is a better ingredient.

That said, (this is me trying to be more understanding... ;) ), the lemonade flavors have a bit of acid in them, and that might be enough to slow the rate that the juice and syrup are absorbed. If you have already had the lemonade one and it didn't give you cravings (be honest with yourself!), it might be okay. :dunno: Obviously that's a personal thing. :yes:

wenchybritches 06-07-2005 08:55 PM

I bought the Mango Tropical ones...... :(
