TGIF - April 8

Quick start because The Girls are barking for some silly doggie reason!

OMG! 50 posts yesterday!

Back in a bit.

AdiaFaith 04-08-2005 06:44 AM

Ruth - I know! 50 posts! I think I got my reading in for the day.

Well I forgot to take the camera home last night. I'll have to get that pic up on Monday.

Today is the last day of this week of 4 am wake up calls! WOO HOO!

Tomorrow we are having a local auction in Hornell to clean out my warehouse, Spring Cleaning to the 10th power. Everyone is meeting at 6 am for breakfast at Friendly's, but Bry and I are skipping out and going in around 9 (show starts at 10:30) to sleep in and SKIP the evil breakfast food.

Sunday plans are to sleep in and get the trim in the kitchen done. I also found a couple of prints out of 1970's Hallmark flower calendar that will compliment the style so well. They will got up this Sunday too, but I'm going to be relaxing. We worked too darn hard this week to work the entire weekend.

Had a very busy day yesterday, though it seems I got nothing done except putting money in the drawer.....hmmm, good or bad?

Well Ladies, I'll hear from you for the day and then it's goodbye until Monday!

Shelby just got her friday bone and is tossing it about.....I think that's TGIF in Doggie Language.

Louise1013 04-08-2005 07:56 AM

Good morning Chicks.

Sarah- you are a saint for passing up Friendly's. I have been to one since I was 10 years old, and I still remember how great it was! Luckily, we don't have those in St. Louis.

I am so happy it is Friday, this has been a long week at school. My voice is still not completely back but I am teaching something easy and fun today... how to make circle graphs.

My shih tzu pup, Louise (6 months next week), is so depressed that I am leaving for work. She is finally getting used to going into her house though. I will put up pictures when I get a new one scanned.

Have a good one everyone.

Jamie
weight today: 147.5
goal for 4/11: 146

Ruthxxx 04-08-2005 08:12 AM

Good morning again. The wheels of my so-called Life are in motion so I'm back for a bit! I watched a bit of the Pope's funeral while I had my coffee - very impressive, particularly as we've been in the Square.

Jamie, I'm glad your voice is coming back. One thing you might try with your furry baby is to give her a Kong with some peanut butter in it. That will keep her amused for ages as she tries to get it out. Sometimes our pets are bored because they have nothing to do.

Adia/Sarah, good work at skipping breakfast out. It's really hard to find a SBD-friendly breakfast. You are starting to guilt me into painting the trim around my kitchen windows which were installed last spring!

The sun is shining today which really lifts my spirits. I am going to get out the cushions for the deck chairs so I can sit outside for mid-morning coffee. It's way too wet to clean up the gardens, I'm afraid, but it is pleasant to be out there. I also need to complete the wet cardboard task this morning and get all that crud out of my basement before mould and mildew take over! :( I see a Saturday dump run in my future. Making dog food is on my today list too - Lucy really hates store-bought!

TGIF, Chickies! It's been a rough week for some of us. :grouphug:

ellis 04-08-2005 08:38 AM

Ruth, what are you up to today? Do soggy boxes come into it? :(

Sarah, congratulations on skipping "the evil breakfast"!
Have a great weekend, hon!

Jamie, we'd love to see pictures of Louise! I'm sure your voice will back by Monday.

Bamie, I'm so glad your mom is home! You remember to take good care of yourself, too, sweetie! Continued love and hugs and prayers for you and your family... :grouphug:

Oh... there you are, Ruth! I wish I was there to help you with the boxes, sweetie... :grouphug:

BTW, Laurie, lacrosse is our national summer sport. Hockey is our winter sport. Lacrosse is so cool.

Aimee, good luck with the job, hon! I'm glad your interview went well... keep us posted!! :crossed:

I'm going to clear out the back hall so I can open the door to the backyard. ;) It's a frickin' nightmare back there! There must be about 80 pair of shoes/boots on the floor.

2BFIT1 04-08-2005 08:41 AM

Good morning

Sarah~~ Your Shelby is so cute!!! She does look like she has some Setter in her. Have a great weekend, girl :D

Ruth~~Relax and enjoy your coffee on your deck this morning~ You deserve a few relaxing moments after this past week. Hope your day goes well.

Jamie~~I hope you get your voice back soon. Dogs learn our routeins quickly and they know when we are getting ready to leave them. When both my DH and I will be gone for the day, they know they will be put in the laundry room . Shelby will go down the stairs to the laundry room and get right into her bed and wait. On the other hand, Kasey always tries to hide !!!

Me~~Still sick :(

2BFIT1 04-08-2005 08:44 AM

Hi Ellis!!

Bamie~I must have missed your post. So happy to hear that your mom is home. I'll go back and read last nights posts.

ellis 04-08-2005 08:56 AM

Sil, get better soon, sweetie... :grouphug:

2BFIT1 04-08-2005 08:57 AM

Ruth~I hope you've been saving for that "skinny LCD monitor" because you're almost there, sweetie :cb:

2BFIT1 04-08-2005 09:00 AM

Thanks Ellis! I've run out of klennex and now am carrying a roll of toilet paper around the house with me. It's pitiful.

AdiaFaith 04-08-2005 09:26 AM

Ruth - Make it a good color! Get on that trim! :drill: What's in your dog food?

Jamie - It is still very good there, but breakfast isn't all that hard to pass up at Friendly's. Not when sleep can be subsituted! However, their ice cream....now that's a different story! Speaking of ice creams....throats! I'm glad yours is getting better. Can't wait to see Louise. Shelby has routines down after 2 days! One more perk of working for me, she can come to work. The downside is when she has to pee and I have a customer! I agree with Ruth on the peanut butter. Shelby is veggie freak (don't ask), but she loves peanut butter even more. Once she's chewed the good stuff out of her bones I fill them with natural peanut butter. The natural is even tougher to get out!

Ellis - I wouldn't doubt the number of shoes. One of my clients just brought me 75 pair last week! GOOD LUCK :)

Sil - Feel better chica! With toilet paper I hope you're using Charmin or something squishy like that. Anything but Scott, OUCH!

twiceblessedmom 04-08-2005 09:40 AM

Sil, feel better, that sucks being sick...myself and my two kids had it for over a good two weeks, just didn't seem to want to let go...ugh, awful...feel better!!

Well, did my official Friday weigh in this morning and I'm down 7 pounds!!! yeeehawwww  good way to start out the weekend, give me that extra incentive not to touch anything 'untouchable'!

You guys have a great weekend, happy TGIF!! :D

AdiaFaith 04-08-2005 09:43 AM

:balloons: :balloons: :cheer: Great job TwiceBlessed! Keep it Up! :cheer: :balloons: :balloons:

adaja 04-08-2005 09:56 AM

Thank you for the wonderful welcome!

You gals are so ABSOLUTELY wonderful. Makes me all warm and fuzzy LOL. :^:
OH my. I have GOT to quit getting on the scale every morning! It's like I expect GO GO GADGET weight loss! My home scale says 130, but I put it at 132 cause my scale NEVER seems to be the same as the old doctor's. Yesterday morning it said 129, but I figured that was a fluke. It was :(
I'm in phase 1, day 4. Maybe I shouldn't be eating the sugar free candy, eh?
Can you have salad dressing on this diet? :?:
I haven't gotten around to reading the book yet (I work two jobs and have 2 kids under the age of 4!) :dizzy:
I've been eating salad stuff, cucumbers, tomatoes, chicken, lots of horseradish (lol) and some low fat deli meat. I still drink cokes, but only diet and usually diet rite. I've incorporated more water (but I still HATE water). My treadmill is broken, so I'm not exercising much (although I walk on the greenway whenever it is NOT raining (5 out of 8 days in April...rain!)

Sunnybunny 04-08-2005 10:00 AM

Good Morning Everyone,

I am so glad it is Friday...I just want to sleep all day tomorrow, it has been such a busy week and I am exhausted. It is kind of dreary here today but it is a good dreary :) I keep seeing the beautiful stroke of green on the mountainside and feel so fortunate to be able to see God's great miracle of spring.

It is so beautiful here in WV, the mountains and the rivers and streams and trees and flowers are all coming alive with color and splendor. Spring and Fall are my favorite times of year. Spring especially, with all the hope of newness and rebirth. You can hear the frogs chirping and the robins and cardinals sing their new songs. You can watch bluebirds swoop down with their powerful attitude and mischief! Everyday brings new things to see and smell and hear.

Cool spring breezes and the warmth of the sun. The anticipation of summers hot blanket and lazy days by the river or in a backyard picnic becon.

Enjoy your day girls and I hope I have given you a wonderful picture of Spring!

AdiaFaith 04-08-2005 10:02 AM

Adaja - Try getting book on CD. It was the only way I could find time for Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands. Pop it in a discman when you're walking the greenway. You defintely want to mix it up a bit.

From the food list:
Salad Dressing - 2 TBS. Use those that contain 3 grams of sugar or less per 2 TBS. Best choices contain canola or olive oil. Low carb salad dressings may also be used if they meet these guidelines.

AdiaFaith 04-08-2005 10:04 AM

Oh lazy days.................I can't wait!

soon2Bfab 04-08-2005 10:31 AM

So yesterday was a REALLY bad day at work. My boss was left alone for most of the day & you wouldn't believe the damage she done in such a little amount of time. I was almost in tears for most of my shift. So when I came home I had a beer (at least it was a beer - I really wanted to drown myself in the entire 6 pack!)
I work retail it's a somewhat small store, especially for Merto Detroit. It's not hard, we sell jeans, t-shirts, and the occasional trendy crap. WHAT DOES THIS WOMAN NOT GET. You put things together so they are pretty & shoppable & you sign the damn thing! She was missing over 4 pages of signs!!! Guess who had to fix that?! ME!
Ok enough venting about the crazy lady that eats fried chicken & tells me that she's losing weight!
At least I didn't have to have stitches - poor sweet tooth!!!
SIL & Adia - both Shelby's are too cute!! (I love animals - especially dogs & cats)
Ellis & Ruth Hi ladies!!!
Bamie - glad to hear about your mom....keeping you in my prayers!
Laurie - HELLO!!!
Swim - good luck w/ the job!!
Everyone else - chat with you later!
I have a lot of things to do today - at least I don't work!! That's a blessing!!

adaja 04-08-2005 11:12 AM

Omg

I just did the quiz on your blog, Adia. LOL. I'm a green anarchist! LOL :p
(contemplating dying my hair purple and wearing all black!) :smoking: I'm fairly liberal, but goodness!!

What are good meals to eat when dining out? Anybody?

HunnyBee 04-08-2005 11:23 AM

Stoppin in to say HI! :P I am going back to the beach and you can probably see me rowing for the shores!

Tonight Im going grocery shopping... the past week I haven't had the money to eat on the beach (or anything else for that matter) and I have been eating all the food my old rommate gave me when she moved out of her house. Anywho, I have missed the daily thread and felt like a traitor since I haven't been beaching it lately. So I missed you guys and I looking forward to darkening my tan some more.

btw, on my 2wk excursion from the beach... I have gained 5lbs... :(

Hugs!

sweet tooth 04-08-2005 11:46 AM

Good morning everyone. How do you all do it...you are up soooo early every day posting. I can hardly get a word in edgewise

Sarah - Good luck on the auction. I'm glad that I'm not there...I have a great deal of difficulty restraining myself when I go to them. Even worse with DH. :D

Jamie - Louise will get used to her house. We kennel our dog when we go to work and she actually enjoys it. She runs there when it is time for us to leave, expects some extra cuddles and then sleeps the rest of the day. I've offered to trade places with her, but she won't let me.

Ruth - I envy you going out to the yard and enjoying the sunshine. I am hoping that it will be warm enough this weekend to go out and enjoy the first rays of the season, but I am not going to bet on it just yet. Have a great weekend and don't work to hard with the dump stuff.

ellis - I don't know what the solution to the shoes and boots would be. We have the same problem here - everyone takes their shoes, etc. off, leaves them on the floor at the door and then wears a different pair of shoes the next time they go out. I had DH build some shelves with six rows of shoe racks that would hold shoes 3 pairs deep...I am still tripping over the shoes in the hallway and the shoe racks are almost empty.

2BFIT1 - Get well soon.

twiceblessedmom - Congrats on the weight loss. WTG. I also found that, when I officially record my weight on Fridays and see a weight loss, it is encouraging to not take any food detours on the weekends. Keep it up.

adaja - Don't worry about weighing everyday...do whatever works for you with your weight loss. If you find weighing everyday encourages you to stay OP, then continue, if not, don't. Personally, I weigh myself twice everyday - once in the morning and once at night. I also expect to weigh more in the evenings than in the morning, but it is a good way for me to monitor my weight, know when I need to cut back and respond quickly to the problem.

Sunnybunny - Your description of the mountains gives me a bit of homesickness. I grew up in the Rockies and really miss the closeness of them. Thanks for the pictures.

soon2Bfab - Have a great day off and enjoy the weekend.

Me - Nothing new, thank goodness!!! I didn't sleep very well last night with a horrendous headache and sore neck. However, it is much better today and the stitches don't feel quite so sore. I'm still afraid to comb my hair, though. Fortunately, my hear is really curly and short, so I can get away with just fluffing it for a while. It's the 3 second hairdo.

This weekend, DH has planned a whole bunch of work in the house. :dizzy: I wonder if I can get away with the invalid excuse this weekend and do some of the stuff that I like doing instead. Hmmmm

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Take care.

beachgal 04-08-2005 12:19 PM

Ruth, did you go bark at them? 50??? :yikes: And I thought the Daily was getting back to a manageable level! ;) Enjoy the morning coffee! Hope the box hauling goes more quickly that you think. :crossed:

Adia, I love reading the ongoing saga of Shelby. What a cutie! (we need dog smilies!) You are awesome to pass up Friendly's. Their food is way too good. :T Have a great time at the auction...hope all goes very well!!! :crossed:

Jamie, so glad you are feeling better! :grouphug: Circle graphs are fun! Did the students take the test yet? Shih Tzus are amazing puppies, but they do love human contact. My friend's mom has one and it is being very destructive because she leaves it alone all day. They really are dogs that need to be with people all day, I think. But what do I know? :dunno:  We leave our pup in her kennel during the day and mostly she just sleeps. But I know she does miss us. :(

Ellis, I know the feeling about the shoes. I was able to keep only three or four pairs out in the winter, but now that spring is here, they are starting to pile up again. It drives DH crazy. ;) Hope you get a chance to get out and enjoy the sunshine!

Sil, you poor dear! :grouphug: Hope you get a chance to snuggle on the couch with the puppies and recoup! :goodvibes:

Bamie, I too haven't waded through yesterday's 50, but I am thrilled to hear your mom is home!!! :grouphug:

Twice, that is definitely a great way to start the weekend!!! :hat: :cheer: :high: :cp: :cb: :bravo: :cp: :high: :cheer: Congratulations!!!

Adaja, have you read the book? Doing SBD without the book can really make it very hard. Yes, you can have salad dressing. Stick to those with 3, 2, 1, or 0 grams of sugar, and make sure the ingredients don't include anything with the word "hydrogenated". Don't forget to include dairy and beans in Phase 1. You can have hard SF candy during phase 1, but I wouldn't eat any SF candy with chocolate in it...might mess up your weight loss and detox. Water is essential to this diet, IMHO, and you should be getting at least 64 oz a day. The diet sodas don't count in that total. Try to keep the sodas to no more than two servings a day as caffeine messes up insulin production and can slow weight loss. You can do this! :strong:

Sunny, what a nice description! You make me want to visit WV! :D

Soon, I'm so sorry you had such a tough day!!! :grouphug: Next time, try a glass of red wine...that beer will kill you. It has the worst type of sugar of them all!!! :yikes: :yikes: :yikes: And you know you deserve better than that!!! :grouphug: :grouphug: One of my favorite kids books is Lily's Purple Plastic Purse. In it, her teacher says, "Today was bad, but tomorrow will be better." I take great comfort in that...hope today is MUCH better for you! :goodvibes:

Hunny, keep checking in even when you aren't beaching it...it really helps keep you on track! Glad to see you! :grouphug:

Me:
Well, tomorrow are my two big tests. I'll do some studying tonight, but I'm looking most forward to finishing them early. If I do, I'm treating myself to some serious shopping in Binghamton!!! Target here I come...I have no shorts, capris or sleeveless tops in my size anymore, so I have some serious shopping to do! ;)

Then I have to go home and work on my paper that's due on Tuesday. Lots to do!

Hope everyone has a fantastic day! :sunny:

beachgal 04-08-2005 12:24 PM

Peggy, we posted at the same time! You take gentle care of yourself this weekend, okay? :( Worried about you!

Rayneysmom 04-08-2005 12:31 PM

:o Good Morning (afternoon actually) ladies,

WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have never had such a long week. Between trying to get another division at work set up and these damnable allergies, I am ready to explode!! I take Allegra and have a steroid based nasal spray that I use. HATE to put things up my nose - but what the hay (IF ONLY IT WOULD ACTUALLY WORK!)

I'm gettin' in late today - so I probably won't have time to post to everyone. If I don't - just know your in my thoughts and prayers.

Hunny ~ Good to see you again. I haven't exactly been on the program lately either. In fact, as I write this I am sitting at my desk eating peanut butter sandwich Girl Scout cookies. Lord help me. It has been a rough week.

Laurie ~ Hey lady. It rained here yesterday and this morning. So, hopefully that thwarted the pollen's quest to kill me!

Ellis & Ruth ~ Warm thoughts coming your way ladies.

Adia ~ Mornin'

Bamie ~ Haven't had time to read all the posts - but sure am glad to hear mom's on the mend. Take care of you though. ;)

Well, gotta go - duty calls AGAIN --- Did I say how happy I am that it's Friday???? :dizzy: :dizzy: ;)

Bunnababy 04-08-2005 01:17 PM

Good morning fellow Beachers! :coffee2:

Aimee--How did your job interview go? Hope you are feeling better today.

Sarah--Your Shelby is cute and looks very content. Thank you from a rescue person for adopting from the shelter. I agree that sleep is better than breakfast, especially when you have to spend so much time trying to put something together in a restaurant. Enjoy your sleep in.

Jamie--Glad to hear your voice is better (no pun intended).

Ellis--Hope that Cabana Boy does a better job for you today. Do all those shoes drive you crazy? I guess when my boys were teens I must have had that problem too but not now thank goodness. Snails will keep the algae eaten up and anything the fish deposit in the tank. I like them better than algae eaters for some reason. Maybe because in an emergency they are edible.

SIL--You Shelby is a cutie. Hope you toilet tissue is a good soft one. After a while they all seem harsh.

Twiceblessed-- :bravo: You are doing great.

Adaja--I think weighing everyday works well for some of us (I do) and for some not, if it is causing you too much anxiety why don't you try weekly or even just every other day. Also I only go by my scales at home and not by the gp doctors cuz his are always heavy. My scales match my gyn right on and he probably keeps his calebrated(sp) better.

Sunny--Sleep sounds good! Enjoy your weekend and I hope you have a restful peaceful one.

Bamie--So glad your mom is out of the hospital. And, we won't make you talk about your eating while under such a stress. ;)

Hunny--Why is when we most need everyone here we stay away. Even if you didn't have the right foods to stay on plan we would have been supportive (but you know that huh) and no one would have criticized you. Now I just have to remember not to disappear when I have a slip up. :o Glad you are going to be able to get the right foods in the house for yourself and take care of you. We missed you.

Soon--Bosses, who needs them? Just kidding cuz I am the boss and I am sure the employees get aggravated at me too, however, I do work hard. I wonder sometimes when in stores how someone got to be a manager though when they can't even answer a simple question or do the simplest tasks. Maybe she thinks it is your job to do that kind of stuff and she is above it, seen that happen to. Anyway, hope work goes better for you.

Laurie--I'm so glad you have no clothes in your size. :cp: Good luck with your tests and hope you have plenty of time to shop.

Ruth--Does your workload ever let up??? I wish I could help you with those boxes they must be heavy and tiring. Enjoy some of your sunshine though and don't spend all day moving those boxes.

Me--I did good yesterday too and am feeling my energy returning today. I slept good enough last night that I was up 1 1/2 hours earlier than I usually am. Caught up on here and then another full day at work, hoping we are busier than Wed and Thurs this week, whenever the gas prices go crazy our sales drop for a week or two. Everybody have a good OP day.

Bunnababy 04-08-2005 01:22 PM

Hi Rayneysmom, sorry you are having such a crappy week. Hope your weekend is better. :D

2BFIT1 04-08-2005 01:40 PM

Tina/Twice Blessed~~:bravo: :cheer: :cb: Way to go on losing 7 pounds!!!

Rayneysmom~~I hope the rain we just got will help your allergies . Everything is covered in that wonderful yellow pine pollen :p I take either Clariton or Zertec but maybe I need your nasal spray~is it Flonase??

Bunnababy~Glad you're doing well. I envy the way you can respond to everybody. I'm a 2-finger typist and that would take me all day!!

Laurie~~Wonderful for you being able to buy smaller clothes :cheer:

Beachgal~~My little Shelby was sneezing this morning. I'm sure it's from being outside on the deck with me for awhile yesterday. She had "yellow in her nose" (read: pollen) afterwards. I gave her some benadryl this morning and she seems better.

Just noticed that my cat Miller has a wound on his back thigh but he won't let me get a good look at it. Hopefully DH can help me when he gets home. If it's not one animal it's another :?:

Barb0522 04-08-2005 01:58 PM

What a beautiful afternoon! I hate sitting here looking at the sunshine outside my window. Oh, well, I do plan to work in the garden tomorrow since Sunday it is supposed to rain. My pilates class turned into an Abs, Butt, Gluts class but still has some of the same stuff. I'll take whatever I can find time for. I bet my son would love to go out on his scooter tonight while I jog after him. He's worked hard all week on a big project/presentation for his Talented/Gifted program and deserves a break too. That sounds like fun. Now if I can just get out of work on time... :)

AdiaFaith 04-08-2005 02:28 PM

Soon2 - Well, I'm sure my employees have hated me at moments  , but the scene you described is exactly why I had to get out of retail!

Adaja - A Green Anarchist? :dizzy: WOW! I thought it was a neat thing to put in there. I do need to update, just been crazily busy around here. Every time I turn around I have a customer or have drank so much that I have to pee. I scored like I thought I would, but I think it's 98% republican now as I didn't agree with conservatives on the Shiavo case....but anyway, glad you wandered over there!

Hunny - HI!

Peggy - Well......I think our lack of control at auctions may be the big reason we have to have this one! :)

Laurie - Glad you love reading about Shelby, she's the only one here with me for 14 hours so she's about all I have to talk about! :) Currently she is laying in front of the front store door on her rug SPREAD EAGLE. What a sight! Have fun shopping, I'm just trying to fit back into my "sort of skinny" clothes at the moment.

Rayney - Good afternoon to you. Workday's almost done I hope!

Bunna - We were surprised at just how expensive it is to adopt from an ASPCA. Almost as much as a pure bred dog anymore! Shelby was adorable and within our wants/needs and our budget. FATE! :) We donated the extra we had saved to buy her to the shelter to help the other pups we had to leave behind.

Barb - I hope you can both get out there and enjoy, sounds like you've both earned it!

To anyone I missed.........

Bamiegurl 04-08-2005 06:48 PM

Hey quick post. Mom is keeping me hopin today. lol She is getting better. Thanks for the well wishes y'all. You all are so sweet. I'll try to catch up soon! Take care all.

Louise1013 04-08-2005 09:58 PM

Thanks to all of you for the great tips on my puppy. She is a great little dog, that you are right, loves people. She craves our attention.

I had to skip the beach today. I ended up getting a fever today during school. So I had to stop and get meds and gatordade. I will be a good girl and start tanning tomorrow. tehe!

talk to you tomorrow, or Monday depending on how I feel and how excited this weekend gets.

Jamie
