"Are you still being good?".....vent

  • Why is it that people like to try to make you fail? People are always asking if I want some of this or some of that(evil food). When I politely decline the offer they get disgusted and ask in a snide way if I'm still being good. Which is usually followed by "how long are you going to keep doing this". I've given up on explaining that it isn't a diet so much as it is a way of eating that I plan on doing FOREVER.

    Sorry....just needed to vent.
  • I have sabotagers all over my workplace. Even sometimes my FH is a sabotager and doesn't know it

I tell them the same thing. I say I don't plan to eat that stuff ever again bc I don't miss it!!!! Hang in there and Congrats on reaching your goal!!! That's awesome!
  • I ask "Who appointed you my nutritionist?" That shuts them up.
  • I usually reply......This way of healthy eating is what is BEST for me!!!
  • I tell them I don't like what they are offering me. My taste buds have changed on my new way of eating and I don't enjoy high sugar/empty calorie things anymore. Many times it gives me a stomach ache.

When I don't want to offend I say something about being borderline diabetic and need to keep an eye on my sugar intake.

When I don't particular like a person who is forcing food on me, I tend to get more vocal.."What business is it of yours what I eat or don't eat?"

if they push it on me and won't take no for an answer, I take it and go to the closest trast can and throw it away. "Just pretend I ate it," if they say anything. After awhile they get the idea that food pushing won't work with my any longer.

I love the idea of a simple "No, thank you. I don't want any." and walk away.
Thin people are allowed to say no without justifying, why do we? I find it very annoying also.

Vent away, sometimes it's the only thing keeping us sane.
    Sarah
  • You can also say "I just had {breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack}" and I'm not hungry or that you just brushed your teeth and a minty ____ wont' taste very good.

I haven't really had that problem, thankfully, but sometimes I say I don't like such-n-such or I only eat homemade food now.
  • Oh, I hear ya, Nat.
I have a "look". If you were closer, I'd teach it to you. It's a look that makes the recipient come over all uneasy-like, and they sidle away from me as quickly as they can.
  • I know what you mean... my classroom aide did the same type of thing to me today by laughing when I told her I was excited to eat cereal for the first time in two weeks (she's the type that never had to worry about weight). Don't let them get you down... just know we're here to support you
  • Yes, it's tough when people do that to us. I hear you!!

Stay strong and keep up the good job!
  • Nat, I hear you girl!

I get really frustrated with those people too! I have a hard time convincing them that not only is it okay to eat stuff in front of me, but I really don't want any! I just don't like how it makes me feel!
  • I feel your pain. I just tell them that I have plans to go out with my dh later on and don't want to ruin my appetite
  • What's great is I don't even have to reply. They see the weight flying off

My wife's progress has actually inspired people at her work to try SBD too.
  • Hi Nat

    Yes I'm still being GOOD

I also know where your coming from. People are so insenitive to each other when it comes dieting. The Old saying still pops up when the family gets together,:" Start Your Diet Tomorrow" Just hang in there, Hugs BB
