What brand of WW bread do you buy?

  • Or, do you make your own? I'm thinking of making my own but wondering which brands you all buy
  • Normally I buy Mrs Bairds 100% Whole Wheat and sometimes Nature's Own 100% Whole Wheat. I have made my own whole wheat rolls but I had to add some white flour to those so I prefer the store brand bread.
  • We buy Sara Lee 100% Whole Wheat. Heart Healthy I think it says on package. I haven't touched bread in almost 3wks but this is what we normally buy. We like the whole wheat bread around my house.
  • We are weird but my husband religiously makes 2 loaves every week. We have a grain mill and he grinds from hard red wheat. So I KNOW that our bread is 100% whole wheat. I don't get to have any for a week yet though.
  • Brand names are different in Canada. I buy Dempster's 100% Whole Wheat with Flax.
The in-store bakery in town makes 100% whole wheat hot dog and hamburger rolls and also stocks 100% whole wheat pitas and tortillas.
  • Geekgirl, would you mind sharing the recipe your dh uses?
  • He uses a bunch of different recipes in Laurel's Bread Book. It is a classic and you can find it at any bookstore or amazon.com. There is a lot of great information about bread in general in it. Also the grain mill we have is called the Whisper Mill and it's made by a company in Australia and only cost $199. Well well worth it to know that what you are getting is in fact 100% whole wheat. We also use it to grind corn for corn bread (but not anymore ), and he has used it for rye too.
  • I have friends with a mill and will be getting my ww flour from them I have some grain cookbooks, think I will check them out
  • I eat flax bread made by a bakery here.
  • Ellis, remind me to get some next time I'm in town which I hope will be damned soon!
