Opinion on "Low Carb & Lovin It"

  • I wonder if any of you have seen the FoodTV (foodtv.com) show -- Low Carb & Loving It. The recipes seem wonderful and the host of the show lost over 200 lbs. on a low carb diet (his family over 500 lbs.)

    Are these recipes SBD approved?
  • I haven't seen the show but have heard about it. Low carb and SBD are not always compatable but certainly I would watch the show and you can revise the recipes i.e., switching good fats for high fats. I love Rachael Ray but cannot cook many of her dishes but still fun to watch her work.
  • I have watched the Low Carb & Lovin It show, and my main gripe with it is that there does seem to be a lot of high fat recipes. Things like heavy cream and real butter are staples in his recipes. But as Bunnababy mentioned, most of his recipes would be easily adaptable by using low-fat versions of these types of ingredients.

I am a Food Network junkie, and I love Rachel Ray, too. If you are interested in finding recipes from either of these shows or any other show on that channel, go to http://www.foodnetwork.com/ and find the "Find a TV Show" drop down box on the left side of the page. Most of these shows list recipes from the last couple of weeks on their respective pages. Some of my favorites are 30 Minute Meals, Calorie Commando, Cooking Thin, Good Eats, and Low Carb & Lovin It. Just be sure to read their recipes with your SBD goggles on.
  • I just don't like that host George! He is scary looking. I can't sit there for the 30 minutes and follow what he's doing.

Plus, he's not a chef. So the show doesn't flow. And yes, the rrecipes are most times laiden with fat. But if you like something, I am sure you can sub!
  • I love the Food Porn channel. But I have to agree - Low Fat & Lovin' It is an Atkins show, not an SBD show. And it's a crappy show. Blech. The host is boring, and a bit campy. And jenn is soooo right, it just doesn't flow.
