Ah...Puppies!!! So, so darling! Love their curly fur! So...do they live up to the "water" part of their names? Do they like water? They look so happy wet!

Love the little "Lucita"...she's gorgeous! Definitely :crossed: here that she does really well on her tests!

Ruth

They are sooo cute! They are just precious. I can't imagine how small the puppies are when they are born because they are small dogs!

Ruthxxx 10-28-2004 07:12 AM

The pups weigh about a pound when they are born. Normal weight for an adult female is 40-50 pounds. They are considered medium sized dogs.

Bamiegurl 10-28-2004 07:31 AM

Oh Ruth I am glad you posted that cause I thought they were about that size then I read the other and I thought maybe I had been thinkin of the wrong Dog all this time. teehee Good morning "Luuucccyyy" (In a Ricky Ricardo accent! haha)

Hi Ruth,
Gee they grow quick don't they,Jaza is just starting to loose her teeth, was funny I check them every day and this morning nothing happening and thought I would check again this avo,one of the top canines was hanging on by a thread,so just gave it a little pull and out it came, the new ones are just breaking through,I am a bit worried about one of the bottom canines as the baby one didn't grow out on an angle but straight up to the roof of her mouth, I was able to nip the tip of it off when it first came through so wouldn't put a hole in her roof, she lost that one yesturday,so madly rubbing around the new one out on an angle, don't know whether it will work, but remember an old time breeder telling me that.

Sandra

Ruth, they are so cute. Bet you wish that you could keep them all. I have been trying to convince DH that our dog needs a 'little sister,' but the answer has been a resounding NO! I will just need to keep working on him a bit yet.

beachgal 11-10-2004 11:56 AM

Peggy, remember, it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission! :s: That's my rule of thumb when it comes to adopting needy animals!

And if you do get a friend, please consider adoption...there are so many dogs and cats and other animals that are killed every day because there is no more room. They make excellent companions! Check out www.petfinder.org for lots of wonderful shelter pets...you can search by age, size, breed, sex, etc. If you have your heart set on a purebred, check out rescues (also on that website)...they rescue purebreds that have been abandoned and foster them in homes (usually) until they can be adopted.

It's always a good idea to open your heart to love more animals! At least, that's my opinion. :D

Lauthala,

Dexter is a standard schnauzer. :D He's my "persnickety" furry friend. He doesn't like to get his feet wet or dirty. (Although he LOVES foot massages...) LOL Abby, my westie, just LOVES the rain.

Is yours a standard?

Kimberly

lauthala 11-13-2004 06:36 AM

Kimberly,
Yes mine are standards,5 of them. The picture is the old fellow,he's 13 1/2.
Sandra.

Laurie - I usually adopt the principle of forgiveness is easier than permission, but not where pets are involved. DH was not raised in a home with pets, so has always "tolerated" the animals in the house but never been that fond of them. We have always taken in strays until the last puppy...we went to a breeder because we wanted a specific breed this time. The change in DH with this puppy is absolutely remarkable...he pestered the breeder every day before the puppies were born to find out if we had babies yet, then we went out to visit the puppy every week until we could bring her home (an hour's drive out of the city each way), and he treats the puppy (really a dog now, but she's his baby) like a little princess. The first time our daughter saw him with the puppy, she took me aside and asked what was wrong with her dad. If we do get another, we will probably do the same thing...he seems to bond with them better when they are tiny.

For me, I have a soft spot for every stray and animal that people cast aside and would have a houseful if I were allowed. But I have to be considerate of DH, too, since he pitches in a does a lot of the work involved.
