Bug/Spider bite ? for anyone who can help!
Hey Chicks I know y'all know a lil about everything and with all the bitin goin on around here I thought I would ask. I know Momma has been through the wringer with the spider bites and I have been havin my fair share. I have not worried to much until now. It seems that after a few days when they are starting to heal they become bruises! Now this is new to me as I have never had a bite turn into a bruise. I noticed a couple on my leg but thought well I hit it in the same spot but the other day I woke up with 3 bites in a row on my neck. Well today I noticed 2 of theme are now bluish purple like a bruise and the light went off with the ones on my legs. Weh! This has gotten long! Sorry! I was just wondering if anyone had any input. Thanks chickies!

Bamie, you might need to see a doctor...or at least call your doctor and report what you've found. It might be nothing, but it's worth checking. None of my spider bites have ever turned into bruises, but you never know.
If you are itching them fiercely, they might look bruised as the skin heals. On the other hand, the anticoagulant or liquifying fluid, the spider inject into their "victims" might cause some bleeding under the skin, simulating a bruise. Just conjecture...but worth talking to your doctor about. |
Your probably right Laurie about the doc and I have been thinkin about makin an appt.
It's just I got to 2 other docs so often from my car accident that happened almost 1.5 ago another 30 dollar copay and script probably on top of it! UGH! I can think of so many other things I would rather do! haha Thanks for the info about the bruising. Sounds good to me! |
Better see a doc. Certain spiders (fiddlebacks, for one) venom will literally kill the tissue surrounding the bite - the area turns a bluish black and the flesh actually dies - not to be gross but it kind of rots. If left untreated it can get really bad and require multiple surgeries. Please go get it checked. Or at least so a search on spider bites to see if you find any pics that look like what you're describing.

Thanks wendyjo! I should do a search! (DUHHUH!) I'm pretty certain it's not a fiddler cause it is not sore and there is no swelling or redness around them.

Bamie, I hope the bites get better soon! :grouphug:

Thanks Ellis!

That's it! I'm staying in the North. Snow may be inconvenient, but biting spiders are downright freaky!
When my father was a refugee after WWII, he was given the choice of settling in Australia or Canada. His deciding factor in choosing Canada was that there were no poisonous spiders and few venemous snakes. Guess phobias are genetic! :dz: |
Oh well then I should move up there. Only problem I can't take the cold! BURRRRRR! Yes it is sad but the winters have been so mild that it is not killing off anything anymore. I don't even think the skeeters die anymore! DH and I were tryin to sit out on the deck and enjoy my new lights and we had to come in!

ack I had a spider on me this morning and i flicked him off really fast...all i kept thinking about was Momma and her bites!
|
I agree...living in the north is lovely...snow is preferable to huge insects, IMHO. ;) But ask me again when it's still snowing in May. <sigh>
Bamie, how are you doing, girl? Did you see a doc? I hear you about copays and scripts...maybe you can call the doc and see if they think it's important for you to come in? They might say that this is a normal reaction to spider bites. |
I have not called as of yet! I don't feel any different and I have no pain anywhere around them. I'm goin to look up spider bites and see if it has anything about it. Thanks for asking!
