The Weekend! (September 25 and 26)
Just thought I'd try a different font because I have a new signature weight! Somehow, I dropped 2.6 pounds overnight. However, I may find then when I make the bed.
I've had my coffee and am raring to go but need breakfast first. Today I think I'll make those WW muffins that Barb posted. It'll be nice to have a stash of them in the freezer. I'll have to hide them as Harry has made a habit of sneaking snacks. His recent discovery was my Laughing Cow Cheese - spread on an oatmeal cookie! it's just like having a kid. I have odds and ends of errands to do today but plan to spend the afternoon on the porch reading my book. (I think I'm turning into Ellis!) What are your weekend plans? |
Hey, Ruth!
I was thinking about you the other night when I was at the theatre. We saw "Proof", a Pulitzer prize winning play. Well, it was ruddy awful. No amateur theatre should take on a play like that. They completely killed it. One of my friends (well, and me, but I was too polite to say so) wanted to leave at intermission, and I was thinking, "If only Ruth were here with a bag of tomatoes." I had a great time at IKEA yesterday with Mom. I picked up some shelves for DS's room, and a bunch of other stuff. I encourage Mom to buy a red leather chair and stool that she loved. Then I went to that bookstore I mentioned yesterday. Bamie, I only bought three bags full of books... didn't need the U-haul after all. :lol3: Athough if I'd been able to park my car for longer than the hour allowed on the street, who knows WHAT might have happened! The appliances are arriving today. DH started tearing down a wall yesterday, so I think I'd better move the computer into the pantry until the kitchen is finished. It's getting dusty in here. I hope everyone has a wonderful day! And welcome to all of the newbies! |
Congratulations on the loss, Ruth! New appliances, Ellis! Sounds like fun.
I'm done with the install part of my upgrade. I'm heading to the shower, breakfast and then off to Kohl's for their early bird specials. Bras for $14.99 and half off on some clothes I can wear to work. Then off to the gym. I got stuck at work late again and I haven't exercised since Monday so I will make it again. I've got a couple of status checks to call into this afternoon and evening and then I don't have to work until 9:30 tonight unless they run ahead of schedule. At least I am working from home this time. I'll check in later. Bye! |
Good morning Barb, Ellis, and Ruth!!
Just sipping on my coffee while DD watches Sesame Street. :) I am soooo happy to be home, and to have some stressful parts of the year over with! Now it is on to healthy living and baby making!!! Barb You can get such great deals at Kohl's. I am always so impressed how your weight signature just consistently drops. :) Ellis We don't have an IKEA here in Dallas, but apparently they are in the process of building one. (Out in Frisco, for all of you DFW metroplexers). My mom has been to one out in DC and loves it/ Ruth How are the puppies? Congrats on the continuing weight loss! Me- I have all the meals planned for the week, and need to get a grocery list organized. My plan is to go back to Phase 1 for as long as it takes me to get back to 158. I need to go t my mom's today and weigh, b/c my weight signature does not reflect my current weight! I know I have gained a good 4-5 pounds over the last few weeks. I have decided that what is done is done, and I am going to move on! I should have more time in the evenings to cook and focus on exercise!! Hope you all have a marvelous weekend!! |
Morning all. Man, this #2 chair doesn't even let me get past "Morning all" and I gotta use the restroom.
Have to work all day today. Sigh. By myself, even. I need a book or something because that place is SO boring on Saturday. This morning, Terry got up before I did, thinking he was going to play his game with his headphones on. I kept hearing "clickitty-click-click-clickitty" coming from the mouse (apparently that's how you "kill people") and glared at him, and he finally went in the other room to watch TV (turned up too loud.) Now he's mad because I'm on here. Karma! I have my own computer, we just have no place to set it up in this house, so it sits in a box in storage at my parents' house. Sucks. I miss my old computer. Has all my 80's mp3's on it from when you used to be able to download for free. Well anywho, time to weigh in and hop through the shower. You all have a loverly day! PS Ruth : Hope you don't find those extra pounds you lost!!! Maybe they rolled over to his side of the bed and are waiting for him? |
Happy weekend, ladies!
Has this been the longest week ever or is it just me? Oy. Ruth, I am baking half a batch of those muffins as we speak. Mine are mixed berry muffins from a raspberry, blackberry, and blueberry frozen mix I had. I'll let yas know how they turn out. :) I have to share what's been happening with my weight this week. I have been eating a mostly Phase 1.5 kinda diet b/c it's close to the end of the month, and I wasn't getting close to my goal. So I was having either one fruit or one starch per day. Add on top of this an exercise trick that our full-time health instructor taught me at work for increasing your metabolism... I've dropped 4 pounds in 3 days of doing this exercise, and now I'm thinking maybe it's a good idea to either 1) increase my carbs to slow this down or 2) skip days between this exercise. For your benefit, this is the exercise as our faculty person explained it to me: You can do this with any exercise (I've been riding the stationary bike). Start exercising at a slow relaxed pace for about 30 seconds. For the next 20 seconds, go as hard and fast as you can. Then slow down again for the next 30 seconds. Go hard and fast again for 20 seconds... Repeat until exhausted. For me, exhaustion sets in just after the 1 mile mark. The faculty member told me ahead of time not to try to achieve my normal distance doing this exercise (3 miles); she said only real athletes would be able to do that... Anyway, I think I'll be eating more like a Phase 2.5 diet today. Just because it was so strange to see the scale move so fast. Well, I'm off to check on my muffins. Have a wonderful weekend! |
Well, my dh was up at 5 to go to work, and couldn't find something, so does he look harder? Noooooo, the fastest way to find something would be to ask me....thanks dear. My boys actually stayed in bed till 7:30 though, so it was at least peaceful!
I'll be babysitting a neighbor's 10 month this afternoon, so hopefully it's nice out so we can be outside. Yesterday it was so windy, my son couldn't walk, he kept getting smashed over by the wind! Hope everyone's day is just peachy! |
Hi everybody! It's another beautiful day here, and a little cooler than it has been all week. A good day for a long walk with the dog.
Ruth, congrats on the weight loss. Good idea to use a new font to punctuate your exclamation! Ellis, too bad about the play. I walked out of an opera once because the sound system had a blind spot and everytime a singer stepped into it, their voice evaporated into silence. Barb, sounds like a really busy day! Kiko, you sound really organized. I'm sure you'll get back on plan with that kind of determination. Weezle, ahhh the computer wars! I joke that it's lucky my dh met me before he got his first computer or we wouldn't have met at all. Fuzzy, thanks for the metabolism booster trick. After my fudgesicle overload I sure could use that tip! Chubbamama, hope your kids don't fly off like kites! As for me, I'm a bit sheepish after yesterday's binge with fudgesicles. I liked the feeling of no limits, but then who ever said life was supposed to be like that anyway? Feeling full committed to plan today but need to make some hummus and chop some veggies to reinforce it. Have great days everybody, |
hello everyone!!
well i have been MIA for a bit but you're all still on my mind. i haven't been posting much here because i just can't follow the SBD plan right now but i did find a WOE that seems to work for me so good news and bad i guess. i almost feel guilty posting on this thread cause i'm not really doing the plan. i still believe it is a really healthy way to eat. i just can't manage it, maybe i'm weak or just not willing i dunno. but anyways... ruth congrats on the overnight loss it's awesome to see a new number in your siggy. keep up the great work!! ellis i am totally jealous you're nocking down walls??? are you going to have a huge inviting kitchen?? that is my dream, mine is as big as a fridge box (or so it seems) kiko i did the same organized my meals for the week and then went shopping with a list, i only spent $70 on grocerys this week i hope i didn't forget anything. sounds like you should have a great op week with all of the prep you've done!! hi barb, have fun at the kohls sale they always have the greatest bargains. aren't guys just a hoot sometimes?? little boys in big bodies hang in there girl!! hi fuzzy chubba and heidi. well hope you all have a great day!! |
I'm coloring my hair right now, and haave a few minutes yet before I have to rinse. What a day! I thought I could relax all day for a change, but people had other plans for me. Then Jake wanted me to go to BJ's with him, and by the time we got back and had supper, the day was mostly shot!
I'm having a basket party tomorrow, so I managed to get some house cleaning done along the way. I'm planning to serve hummus and raw veggies, a cheese & cracker (ww) tray, and our SB splenda brownies w/ ff CoolWhip. So I should manage to stay OP. Ruth: CONGRATS on the weight loss! You sure have been doing well! Ellis: Have fun reading your new books! I picked up 2 new ones at BJ's today, and can't wait to start in on them! A big HELLO to Kiko, you're doing wonderful, girl! WTG Barb! jodi, whatever works for you is the most important thing right now. Please continue to check in with us and let us know how your're doing! Hi to anyone I may have missed, or will be checking in later! Gotta go! The timer went off a few minutes ago and if I don't get this stuff off my hair, I'll probabley go bald!!!!! |
Hi everyone!
Just thought I would check in while it was still Saturday. I went shopping today and got quite a few things to get me started on plan for Monday - and will do the rest of the shopping on Tuesday when my husband can take me. I am still getting around soooo slow right now that it took me almost 3 hours to get the shopping done today and by the time I got home I was in agony. :( I am sure ready for some of this pain to go away all ready! I am very excited to begin anew again. I just finished reading the book a few minutes ago and can definitely say that I learned quite a few things - and know I will learn a lot more helpful information from this awesome group. :) Hope that everyone has/had a good evening and rest of the weekend ahead. ~P |
Good Sunday morning!
It's 0230 right now and I'm at the hospital....there is nothing normal about this place. Anyway, thought I'd stop in and say hi. "hi".
Managed to exercise like I wanted to all week. This afternoon I ran, yesterday I did the stadium stairs three times. Tuesday I did the stadium. I've done the weights in our cardiac rehab dept. done crunches.....I'm pretty happy about that. Managed to do phase 1 for five days. Cheated a bit last night so I decided to go to phase 2. It's so hard to be satisfied at work on just phase 1 foods. For me it would be better to do phase 2 than cheat. Tonight before I came to work I had a bowl of 8 grain oatmeal stuff with peaches in it. It was heavenly. Ruth, congrats on the lost weight, don't call lost and found! Hope you enjoyed the day reading! Ellis, have fun with the new appliances...I sure wouldn't want to cook on them for fear I would get them dirty. Don't you just love books? Barb, hope you found the bra of your dreams....if there is such a thing. Kiko, have fun making babies.......don't let us interrupt you. Weezle, sounds like dual computers will make for peaceful cohabitation. 80's music....really? fuzzy, thanks for the exercise tips. I'm going to have to try that. Chubbamumma, I can relate...."honey, we're the salt?" uh in the cupboard...."oh thanks". It's a missing chromasome thing I'm pretty sure. Heidi, no guilt on the fudgesicles. Determine that it was a great treat and you don't get another one for 2 weeks or something like that. justjodi, keep posting. It's fun to hear from you. Losing weight takes encouragement no matter how you do it. You always have good ideas. cottagebythesea, what color did your hair turn out? I got involved in the internet one time while doing the same.....lovely shade of dark purple. I used to be a hairdresser and could fix it but what a mess! TxMomof3, you will learn a ton from the book. Good luck and keep posting. You'll be feeling better before you know it. Well, I'm the house supervisor tonight and need to go make rounds. I'm not sure how I'm going to stay up until 0800 and then go to church, have dinner, write a paper for my class and be nice. One of those will have to go.....probably the nice. :smug: |
RNMom, you are so smart to switch to Phase II instead of cheating! I've often thought of doing that (after I've eaten a bag of chips).
Yeah, I'd say that "being nice" will be the one to go. Good luck staying awake today! :) TXMom, good luck tomorrow with your start! And I hope the pain goes soon, hon. :grouphug: Cottage, how did your hair turn out? ;) Have fun at the basket party, and congratulations for making OP snacks!! :hat: Jodi, don't you dare stop posting just because you're not doing this plan! This forum is all about support and friendships. heck, I haven't been OP for a year! No, our kitchen won't be big. It's like yours... the size of a fridge box. It's a galley kitchen, and I guess that's why I want to make the most of it. It's going to be the smallest, sleekest kitchen anyone's ever seen. :D We had a huge kitchen in our old century house. The walls and ceiling were white-painted pine, it had a second staircase to the upper floor, and I put a "fireplace" in one of the walls. Heidi, isn't this weather beautiful!? You'll get over that popsicle episode... keep moving forward! Fuzzy, how did the muffins turn out? They sound good! Weezle, DH and I have decided that once the kids leave home, we're going to each have our own computer. We'll sit side-by-side, and play our computer games. Togetherness! Kiko, I'm glad you've in "relaxed mode" now. :) Much better for baby making. Chubba, how did the babysitting go? I really admire anyone with the patience to babysit someone else children. Speaking of which, where is Little Chick? :?: Barb, did you find some good bras? Stupid things. I often just squish into sports bras, but I know they're not terribly flattering. The uni-boob look. Well, the computer and I are now in the pantry. :) I had a brief "moment from ****" during setup when the internet didn't click on, but discovered it was only a broken phone wire. phew! Our appliances have arrived. They are beautiful. :D RNMom, we got the smooth-top stove with the buttons at the front. Easy to clean. It's a convection oven (my first), and I was alarmed at how long the fan stayed on after DH made french fries in it last night. And the oven stayed hot for eons! Well-insulated, I suppose. :?: I'm the only one up... think I'll play my game for a bit... talk to you later, Chicks! Enjoy your day! |
Beautiful Sunday Morning
Hi Everyone!
Sorry I didn't get a chance to check in yesterday - had a running day from start to finish. Stayed OP but didn't stick to the menu in the book. Had a cub scouts outing last night at the local car race track. I packed a bag of pistacios and drank decaf coffee (was chilly). I'm starting to worry that all this beautiful weather we have been having here in W Michigan is going to lead to a doosey of a winter. Starting to get a little freaked out by it. :?: I hope everyone has a great day. I have a another busy one but I'm going to try to shop and prepare meals for next week's SBD. I get to weigh in tomorrow am and I'm starting to get a little nervous. I feel terrific and I can tell I'm losing inches - I squeezed into a pair of my moms pants last night for the car race. Granted they were elastic waist but she usually wears a 14 tall and I wear a 18 regular. Oh well you guys are great support so I'll be brave and get on the scale. Have a beachy day! |
Good morning!
Anchor- Sounds like you are doing great! Remember- you don't have to follow the menues in the book, they are just guidelines! Ellis- Don't you hate internet problems?? Glad you were up and running with no problems. We are off to a slow start around our house, but it feels good to not be rushing off somewhere. DH is going to take DD to work with him for a bit this morning, so I will have at least an hour or so to myself. Ahhhh..... Good day yesterday, although I overdid it on peanuts. We went out for dinner, a new place in McKinney, that was SBD friendly. I had a salad, 6 ounce sirloin, and steamed veggies on the side. They even have baked sweet potatoes on their menu, which will be great for Phase 2. I think I am going to do a Phase 1.5 like I have heard others mention. I am not feeling like I have it in me to do Phase 1. PLUS, I like my occasional glass of red wine, and since I will have to give that up once we DO get pregnant, I don't think I should deprive myself now! Got the grocery shopping done- tonight we are having beef and chicken shish-ka-bobs, green beans, and salad. I am also going to make the Meatball Casserole from the recipe section, so it will be ready for tomorrow night. My new strategy is going to be to make a casserole of some sort on Sunday, that way it will be ready for the week. Then I am also going to plan a crockpot meal for once a week. We shall see, I did a great job at the beginning of the school year and then it all fell to you-know-what. |
