  • As I mentioned in the daily, DH's grandfather passed away on Wednesday night. We're heading out to his home town for the services and such tomorrow morning and I will not be back until Wednesday next week. So, be nice, don't throw too much sand, and no driving Ruth over the edge with talk of frankenfood, okay?

    See you next week !
  • We have to be nice.

I am sorry about your husband's loss. Be sure he takes care of himself, it is hard to lose someone you love no matter their age.
  • Sending hugs to you Laurie to pass on to your DH! I'll save punishment of sand throwers for you to deal with on your return!
  • Laurie,

I'm sorry to hear of your DH's grandfather...I'm saying prayers....You guys be careful and have a safe trip.
  • Laurie, you and DH are in my prayers. His grandfather was a lovely man from the sounds of it. Have a safe trip, and please give my condolences to your DH.
And I know you're worrying about the weight... hang in there, and stay OP, girl. I know you're going be all right with this.
  • Laurie, have a safe trip, and give my prayers and sympathies to your DH.
  • My condolences. Be safe!

    Lauren
  • Laurie,

You and you husband are in my thoughts and prayers. Stay strong.

As for SBD: Good luck, it's a jungle out there, but you'll be alright! Sending you good vibes!

Hurry back, we need to do lunch again once all this rain (both metaphorical and actual) stops!
  • You are all in my thoughts. Safe travels and we'll be waiting...
  • Take care, Laurie. Will be thinking of you.
  • so sorry for your loss, hugs for both of you. have a safe trip. don't worry about us over here we'll keep ruth and ellis busy while you are away. remember to take care of yourself too!!
  • Thanks, chicks!

The services were really nice, and DH and his family are going through the grieving process in a very natural and good way. We did some crying, but just as much laughing and telling great stories about Grandpa. DH is still out there, but I flew back as I have a class tonight.

It was a sad time, but capped off by a time of elation...I FIT IN A AIRPLANE SEAT!!! I was so excited!!! Not only did I not need an extension seatbelt, but I have about 5-6 inches of belt pulled out to make it tight! And the armrest was able to go all the way down, and the tray table didn't rest on my belly! WOW!!! I wish you could all jump on a plane right now so you could experience that kind of rush...they ought to have airplane seats in doctor's offices and nutrition clinics for all of us to measure our loss.

Anyways, I'm glad there were no major sand wars and everyone played nice...at least I think you did...right?
  • Laurie, that is great news about fitting in the airplane seat!! I'm thrilled for you And welcome back!
  • Laurie, I'm so glad the gathering went well.
And congratulations re: the seat! I'm SO happy for you, sweetie!!!
  • Oh my gosh Laurie that is wonderful! Glad to hear all went well with the services and such! I am just so excited for you! I watch that show on A&E sometimes called Airline (I think) and my heart breaks for them when they are told they have to buy 2 seats. I want to send them the plan! Congrats again on your great loss I know that had to be a real moral boost for you!
