Sugar-Free Ranch question

I was making the California Wraps from the SBD Cookbook and it called for Sugar-Free Ranch. I looked at the store and every bottle of ranch had sugars and carbs in them. The powdered mix packet didn't, it just said to add mayo and milk.

Since I'm allowed regular mayo, and some milk (skim), is the powdered ranch mix OK for phase 1? The recipe only calls for a tablespoon, I think. I would just have to count it towards my dairy, wouldn't I?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Since you are only using a tablespoon per wrap, you should be okay. Just take a look at the ranch package and make sure there are no forbidden ingredients.

Hidden Valley Ranch packets work. You can even make them with FF buttermilk and mayo for less fat. I wouldn't worry about the dairy...it's minimal amounts, so no problem.

You can use a regular ranch, though...any dressing that fits the following is safe on SBD:
  • 0, 1, 2, or 3 grams of sugar
  • No words with "hydrogenated" in the ingredients
  • low amounts of saturated fat

Hope that helps! Enjoy! :T

whew! Thanks! I'll have to try it with the buttermilk, I just used regular skim.

Bernstein's makes a garlic ranch light that is really good, if you like ranch. I had the wraps and they are really good but next time I will put Italian in them as I am not a ranch eater. My dil loved the garlic ranch and so does my mom. :T
