Pleatau in Phase 1? Can this really be???
I have a quesiton for all you veteran Beachers out there. Is it possible to pleatau in Phase 1 even if you are eating all the right foods? For the past few days I have not cheated, i have eaten all the "right" foods but I am stuck!!
My questions are; Is this normal? Or am I being impatient? I guess it took me 25 years to get this big, so I need to be patient, but seeing it start to melt off was really making me feel successful for once ;) . Mindy Came to the Beach: 7-11-04 HW: 220 SW: 210 CW: 206.6 GW: 165 |
Can you give us some more details?
What day are you on? How much have you lost to date? Are you drinking LOTS of water? |
Well, I'm starting Day 5 of Phase 1, and I lost some weight at first, but now I'm holding steady, too. After Week 1 I'm going to just weight myself every Monday instead of every day. I just was so curious, and after seeing a good 6 lb jump start, I thought it might continue that way. I drink lots of water, in fact I feel like I'm in the bathroom all the time. I have to get up TWICE during the night! I hope it gets better. Just wanted to post to let you know, I feel your pain.

I lost a very slow 4 pounds in Phase 1 and never cheated! Be patient, as long as you are truly working the program, it will come off.

I found that I would lose 2 or 3 pounds, then stay the same for a few days, then suddenly drop another 2 or 3 pounds. Just stick with it and you'll be fine. Be patient.

I think you lose a few pounds immediately due to water and the whole flush of your system. Then there could be a few days before the "real" pounds come off. Keep working the program, by the end of the 2 weeks...you will have lost more.
One promise I made myself when I started this program was to only weigh in once a week. I learned that was not enough, but I do not weigh in more than 2 times a week. That stops me from flipping out because there has been no movement in days or from getting too excited because I lost some pounds that magically reappear again. JMHO... |
Don't focus on the numbers...
I know that it's fantastic to see the numbers drop quickly, but don't get too discouraged if you don't see consistent results. The old cliches are true: everyone is different, muscle weighs more than fat, the longer you've carried the weight the longer it will take to come off, the slower it comes off the longer it will stay off, etc. My approach is to weigh myself monthly. I feel great. I know that I'm sticking to the plan. I would rather see a net loss of 5 pounds over a whole month and feel good, than get discouraged because I didn't lose anything during one of those four weeks. More important to me than knowing the force my mass applies on the Earth is how I FEEL about myself.
Besides, you've already done great! Keep up the good work! ;) |

Everyone loses differently, and maybe you need the slow addition of carbs for your body to respond. (In the first week, I ONLY added one carb a day.) Be patient! You're totally right, it took 25 years for that weight to go on... it's going to take more than just two weeks for it to come off. Also, you should think about adding some moderate exercise 4-5 days a week, and drink TONS AND TONS of water. Both of those things will speed up the process. Good luck! |
I'm not a veteran, I'm only in the middle of my second week but I noticed a big drop the first week (9.5 pounds so far) so then I would weight myself every day and get all excited. Well I noticed that the scale has slowed down too which I know is normal but that means I can't weigh myself every day now either or I'll get discouraged! Just hold off and do it once a week, you'll start seeing a change!!

Thx for all your support and advice! I know that I shouldn't get all focused on the numbers, but ladies, it felt like such an accomplishment :D .
As for the addition of more water and moderate exercise, I work in a hospital and I keep pretty busy, and I chase around my one yr old ds! I am also drinking so much water I feel like I am in my third trimester, the potty schedule is gruling . I know that I need to be patient, and I appreciate all the gentle reminders to that y'all are great  Mindy HW: 220 SW: 210 CW: 206.6 GW: 170 |
I lost four pounds the first week of phase one and then only one pound the second week. I think everyones body just reacts differently. Hang in there.
