trying the beach...again

  • Well...what can I say? I tried to jump on the SB bandwagon this spring (late April). My DH and I started together and made it through phase1 successfully (although I thought it was going to kill me--I'm a major sweets and bread/pasta/rice person). I fell off the wagon on phase 2--just couldn't manage to add things back in a moderate fashion and once off, I made up for lost foods--gorging on Little Debbie cakes and the like. I've been lurking on this sight for a month or so and you are all so-o-o inspiring that I'm going to give it another shot. I'm not terribly overweight (would like to lose 10-15 pounds) but I am very unhealthy in diet and excercise habits. The thing that drew me to SB was that it seems so much healthier than so many of the other diets out there--like it could really be a way of life.

So, I started over this morning (roughly 6 hours of success so far!) and I'm looking for help staying on track!
  • Welcome, WendyP!

Love that you are counting hours! : I think that is fabulous!

I love how healthy this WOE is. I think that if you can learn to use the foods to enjoy list judiciously, you'll be a happier, healthier, and skinnier person! Let us know how we can help and know that you'll find lots of support here!
  • Welcome to the Beach, Wendy!
  • Hi!
I just started today as well so we will get through the first phase together! I am doing okay so far.

Breakfast- 2 egg omelet w/zucchini, onion, tomato and cheddar cheese.

    snack- low fat cheese

lunch- roasted turkey deli meat, lettuce, and cucumber.

That is my day so far!
  • Welcome to the Beach, Candy! Sounds like a good day so far!
  • Hi,
I started back on the South Beach Diet after being off it for 5 months. I gained 3 pounds in that time so its time to get back on the bandwagon. I hope to lose 22 pounds to get to my goal weight. I got stupid 4 years ago when my husband had cancer and ate to relieve stress. All is well now so I need to take care of me. I live in Colorado and enjoy hiking and snowshoeing. I also am an avid reader and quilter. I hope I can give support to others as well as get some here.

Welcome back and keep up the terrific work.

  • Laurie and Babs
Hi Laurie. I am trying to get pregnant now as well. I had a miscarriage in May at 18 weeks. Docs say it shouldn't happen again so we are back to trying. I figured SB was healthy eating and I can lose weight while ttc'ing.

Babs, welcome. Hope I can give you support as well!

Oh and dinner - I had turkey sausage soup that I got off the recipe board from Jennie527. It was delicious. My hubby liked it too. I also had a salad with olive oil and garlic vinegar.

BTW- the book says nothing about radishes. Those are okay aren't they?

    They've gotta be. They're disgusting.

Candy, I'm so sorry about your miscarriage. I pray that all will go well for you the next time.

Babs, welcome to the Beach! I'm glad your husband is doing well. Yes, it's time to care for yourself now.
  • hello to the new and returning beach beauties!! welcome to the beach!!
