Ellis, this is very exciting. I cant even calculate when mine are supposed to start and stop on a monthly basis.......I have always been amazed by women who can be on top of that stuff...........

cottagebythesea 06-17-2004 09:22 AM

Wow, that's pretty interesting. I guess I have medium size ovaries. I'm 52 and am in menopause now, and loving it!

beachgal 06-17-2004 04:17 PM

Cottage, I know you have a wonderful attitude, but you are loving menopause??? Tell me why you love it....I'm having trouble believing it!

ellis 06-17-2004 06:23 PM

because she isn't bleeding anymore

SeekInnerThinChick 06-17-2004 06:49 PM

"...metal probe inserted into the vagina..."

It'd better have a 3-speed control and a buzz like a weed whacker, or forget it.

Ok - sorry but this is a crazy article. It's like they forgot about the whole reason that they say women over 36 have increased issues with conception. It's because the AGE of the eggs causes the issues, many women aren't racing menopause, they're just trying to make sure their eggs are old.

Am I the only one who thinks this?

It's late, I need to go home...........

cottagebythesea 06-17-2004 09:16 PM

Beachgal - I really am enjoying the fact that I don't have to deal with my period anymore. I've never had a hot flash or any other side effect, either. That's probably due to the fact that I use a lot of soy products and drink gallons of green tea. Menopause has gotten a lot of bad raps that it doesn't really deserve.

lucy4174 06-18-2004 08:12 AM

Not from where I'm sittin :(

beachgal 06-18-2004 08:23 AM

Cottage, you actually make it sound fun!

Everyone I know has suffered intensely for it. They'd rather have a once a month period than every day hot flashes, irritability, dry skin, inability to have sex, etc, etc, etc.

I hope mine is as enjoyable as yours! :goodvibes:

Seek, you have me on the floor!!!

Pebbles, what happens with old eggs? (besides rotting, you jokers! )

pebbles396 06-18-2004 12:43 PM

B/c the age of the eggs (or the sperm) studies have shown that age matters in both cases. And contrary to common belief the older the man the more likely the issues.

It's a combo for the woman, strain on the body, and older eggs.

Hmm, good for those that don't mind the menopause. My mother and MIL both complain like crazy about it. I'll be sitting there and they break out in sweat. Both have TERRIBLE eating habbits, like my mom doesn't eat, and MIL eats like crazy and total junk food. So I suppose that eating right probably does a lot to make that better.

Cottage - does green tea work for menopause symptoms? I just had my ovaries removed 3 weeks ago and I'm already having hot flashes!

Mamacita 06-24-2004 07:00 AM

Geez is this a HENhouse discussion or what??? Old eggs. I feel as though I should be clucking. :lol3: I wonder if our grandmothers ever gave a thought about old eggs?...especially when they were getting ready to download yet another one at age 40+

I wasn't able to see the article (it wanted me to pay for the privilege :( ) But just about all the women in my family have had enforced menopause in their late 40's, early 50's due to endo, fibroids or hyperplasia. Wonder if that means I'm doomed?

Mamacita

ellis 06-24-2004 08:10 AM

Good point, Mamacita! My grandmother had her last child around the age of 46 without a care in the world. (well, I may be exaggerating there) There's a 19 year difference between Dad and his sister.

Sorry about the article... it was free when I read it... I should have cut and pasted it. :(

I'm quite certain you've heard this story before, but let me tell it to you again. :D
My Mom had my younger sister at the age of 41 1/2. And then she NEVER HAD ANOTHER PERIOD. It was like, "BANG! Last egg!!" And THEN, she NEVER went through menopause. Talk about the twilight zone.
I hope to be just like her. :D
