The Weekend - June 12 and 13

  • Good glorious morning from Delta. It's cool but clear and sunny. The Girls and I had coffee on the deck and watched the sunrise. What a super way to start the day! The loons were doing their morning commute between the lakes and there was even one flock of slow-poke Canada geese taking off for the North. I picked a bouquet of lemon lilies, pink and white peonies and Siberian iris for the breakfast table.

Today is "erection" day in the Village! We will assemble the gazebo in the little corner park. I need to get my camera working to record the event. The recharged batteries don't seem to be working. Methinks I'd better RTFM (read the frassing manual) as we need to record this event for the Communities In Bloom project.

I didn't do much yesterday and discovered that I was way off program when I did my review at bedtime! Pastries for breakfast, a pint of blueberries for lunch, croutons for a snack (maybe two cups!) and extra wine with dinner. Oh yes, I indulged in a lot of the cream cheese icing for the pineapple cake. Geez! One off-P item and the dam breaks! I think there were a few snacks of raisins in there too. I NEED TO STAY BUSY! (You will be pleased to know that I didn't nibble on the dog food when I made it! )

I'm back on track today and will NOT eat anything "bad" at the noon hour BBQ. Dinner tonight will be mushroom stuffed pork tenderloin and asparagus with lemon butter.

I have to pry Harry out of bed and do laundry so had better get cracking if I'm to be at the Park for 8:30 ready to roll.

A lot of us have had a crappy week with sickies and toxic people. Here's wishing us all a great weekend! Um....a great weekend to those chicks who had a good week too!
  • Ruth, you're killin' me. What a chow-down you had yesterday!
Have a wonderful time today at the "erection".

I'm off to Mom and Dad's (this is my new life) to install a new dryer. Sort of makes me feel like a working person. I was able to stay home on Thursday, and it seemed like such a treat to have a day off to catch up on shopping and laundry, etc.

Oh! The lecture last night by Robert Fisk was AMAZING!! He's a great speaker, very intelligent, and really knows his stuff. A chip off Noam Chomsky, but additionally with some of the fearlessness and dedication of the war correspondent.

Ditto what Ruth said... a wish for a wonderful weekend for all of you...
  • Helllloooo
Well Ruth I hope you have fun with the gazebo thing. Sounds like you are too busy for words. Your flower garden must be incredible, I'm jealous. I haven't planted a single thing, well except those weeds. A weed is only a flower that is out of place.

Ellis, sounds like a good lecture. You are so cultured! Oh, by the way, is my bracelet in the mail?????????????

Ya'll stay OP today so you won't have the MATNB guilt. (morning after the night before)

I'm off to get packed up for a week at girls camp. 9 girls in the mountains.....how do you spell i-n-s-a-n-i-t-y??????? How am I going to stay OP making dutch oven chicken, potatoes and baked beans????????

Oh, by the way, I'm still not speaking to my scales.
  • Hi girls!

Guess where I am, yes, at work. Well last night around 6 my manger said everyone should go home b/c it's going to be a bad weekend. We all went out....yes it's coming.

3 martini's and onion rings, nachos, and chicken wings, day 14 from Phase 1 - not what I had hoped for. Oh well those were the best tasting martini's ever!

Ellis - welcome to the working world, ha ha ha!

Ruth - yes good luck with the erection. I'm sorry everything seems absolutely hilarious in my slap happy state.

RN - good luck hiking. I think you're my hero for the weekend, 9 girls...wow.

We had thunderstorms AGAIN. Seriously - I should start building an Ark.
  • Ruth Hope you had a great day with the "erection"!!

I am still having internent issues at home, so am checking in from my mom's. So frustating to not be able to log on when I feel like it! We got our DSL stuff in the mail the other day, so I should be up and running soon.

Overall a good food week for me with the exception of a ridiculous amount of Goldfish crackers last night.

Chicken Capri, salad, and a fat glass of red wine for dinner.

I will catch up on posts soon!!
  • Hey everyone

Ruth, do they really call it an errection?

You women all have so much going on in your lives. I don't know how you do it. My apartment gets messy and I feel like my life is spinning out of control.

I came home this morning from work starving and tried to wait it out and go to bed but I wasn't tired. I ended up eating a small sliver of cake I made my bf. I only ate the top part where the icing is (leave it to me to eat the most sugary, fattening part) and threw away the rest. But i ate it so fast, it reminded me of a binge and made me angry with myself. But at least I didn't eat the whole cake!

Ruth and pebbles, your indulgences sound amazing. Yum yum

Hope everyone has a good weekend and hope the errection goes well ruth!
  • Steph I think that you did great by only eating that part and not turning it into a binge!

I forgot to mention that yesterday I got my prescription filled for prenatal vitamins. We have been planning to start "trying" in July for quite awhile. My hisband is thrilled about the "trying" as DH was not a planned thing. I am thrilled, although very frightened as to how I will manage a fulltime job and two kids. Hmmmm....... seems to me that many have managed this before.

Hopefully DSL will be up and running tomorrow- otherwise I will check back when I can!!
  • a small bottle of Jack Daniel's, a beer, 1/2 low far cookie, 1/2 of a 1/2 of a slice of microwave pizza and a pretzel.5 later...

I am disgusted with me. It wasn't worth the eight gain I will have. Ugh
  • I came in last night and posted and then lost the darn thing! When will I learn to open another browser when I want to check out something with Google!

The Gazebo is only semi-erect. I think we may need Viagra to get it finished. The roof rafters are a problem for some reason. The two teachers were puzzling over it for ages and finally asked the boys if they were wearing underwear! Huh? They sent the lads for a swim and went to the pub to figure out a solution. They will be back hard at it this morning so I am making three loaves of sandwiches and some salad this morning instead of going to Church.

I made a great stuffed pork tenderloin for dinner last night and had it with asparagus and lemon butter. Very tasty. When I was out to the Farm for asparagus, Suzie gave me a handful of her first strawberries - local ones are so good! They will be in full production next weekend, she thinks. Nummy!

By the way, I am now completely finished with the Village and Fairground plantings as I bunged extra plants in yesterday in spare moments. Now I can focus on MY plantings. I still have lots of seeds to plant and those rosebushes are blooming merrily in their original pots! Sarah comes tomorrow as does Gail so lots will get done.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Here's a picture of my June flowers taken this morning. Can you smell the peonies?
  • No, but I can smell the daylilies! What a beautiful display, Ruth!

    Back shortly...
  • I promise I didn't post drunk--I just couldn't spell!

Ruth? Wanna come over tonight and cook for me????? That sounds yummy!
