Nette... you lucky girl having an English degree! SOMEDAY I'll get back to university. I used to walk around the house with my nose in a book all the time. But yes... I'm afraid of falling, now. I have a nasty habit of reading more than one book at a time. I often have six open books beside our bed. :D Plus one on the verandah... one in the backyard... two in the living room...
You will lose a lot of weight building your house and gardening! A word of warning... don't get take-out every night while you're building. ;) We did that when we bought our second house (major renovations), and instead of losing weight as we thought we'd do with all the extra activity, we each gained about 20 pounds.

Laurie, we have those clips on the treadmills at the Y. We call them sissy-clips. :lol3:

beachgal 05-25-2004 03:59 PM

Jenn, on a treadmill? Now that takes talent! :lol3: How did you keep from sliding back off?

Steph, I think we should even do the videos on a soft carpet with one of those doughnut shaped floaties around our middles!

I, too, am a total clutz! Right now I am blaming it on all the meds I'm on, but it probably also has to do with my mishapen body...I'm carrying a lot of my weight in the belly area, and I bet my body cannot figure out how to balance!

<LOL> You chicks are too funny. My cube-neighbor wants to know why I keep laughing so much.

Ellis-- I've always been a reader/writer. I feel somewhat stalled now because I am a Financial Auditor and have been working in Finance since I got my degree. I want to write for a living!!!! I have marketing experience and advertising classes but no one seems to think that an English Major can write! Go figure!! Oh--- and my husband is a HUGE hockey fan. Perhaps I can send him to live with you? :) He's turned off my Days of our Lives for the last two weeks to watch the playoffs.

Laurie, too bad they dont have those safty clips to hang from the sky so we wouldn't fall down so much!!

jenne1017 05-25-2004 05:29 PM

Yes, ON one!

I was on the Precor, slipped onto a treadmill that someone was just getting off - it assumed "I" was ready again [they stopped mid workout] and started up. Luckily, i got up in time, and used that nifty STOP cord to stop the mill and my @ss from falling off!

Talk about embrassing!

Oh my gosh! The playoffs are starting tonight, Nette!! Thanks for the reminder! (look here, dear. I am NOT a hockey fan... in fact, DH and I don't watch television at ALL... but last year I watched the playoffs with DH for the first time in my life, and now I've got this weird, nationalistic pride thing going on  I even "get" hockey now. Although I still don't understand what "icing" means...)
Days of our Lives... an English major watching SOAP OPERAS!? :lol3: You're killin' me. I may reveal one of my own dirty secrets in the near future...
What thread is this, anyhow :?:
Nette, just quit your job and write a book. Or at least plan to do in a few years time. :D

poeteangel 05-25-2004 06:29 PM

I'd LOVE to quit my job!!!! But quitting a job and building a house unfortunately shouldn't go in the same sentence!!!! My DH (I finnally figured out what this means!!!!) and I have been together for 4.5 years and before that I had never watched a sporting event in my life. I understand hockey now but when it interfers with what I am watching I get very ill! Yes.. I watch Days... I am going to give up soon... it's the most unrealistic Soap there is... but I grew up watching it and I know all the characters so I guess that's why I still watch....

And I believe this was my introduction thread! Then it turned into the clumsy thread. I fell into the elevator leaving my building today... told ya I was a clutz!!!

hockey, huh? my boyfriend is a total hockey nut. red wings all the way. he also plays on the men's league here where we live. he made a goal the other night! hehe.

i, on the other hand, don't really care either way for hockey. heh. sports aren't my thing.

i'm thinking i should stay away from tread mills...they sound dangerous! hehe

poeteangel 05-25-2004 10:18 PM

Treadmills aren't dangerous!!!......Not if you have the magical clip that attaches to your clothing!!!!

Yep. My hubby is a hockey fanatic. He even majored in Sport Management and did his internship with an ECHL hockey team. His goal is to one day own his own franchise.... but his 2nd choice would be to work for the Pittsburgh Penguins... and his third would be to work as the media relations guy for any ol' hockey team.

I'm not much of a sports fan either. I'd rather curl up with a good book or my Lifetime Magazine. :) They had some inspiring weight loss stories in there this month!!!

I haven't even bothered to weigh myself. I have a feeling I'm nudging towards the 230 mark. I just want to get out of Plus Size clothing. I've always been that inbetween size... not quite small enough for regular sizes and most of the women's sizes are too large. I've been an 18 bottom for God knows how long.... I miss my curvy booty and my curvy legs. :( They ran away when I started college and lived off of microwave dinners and instant mac and cheese! Oh... and having my jaw wired shut and drinking milkshakes for 6 months didn't help either!

How funny!!! I can't read while biking or treadmill the words seem to bounce all over the place lol so I just watch the telly ;)
