dim sum??? my FAVORITE!!!! i'm coming up!!!!! see??? you folks bring this up and i have to jump in!!!!! can't help myself!!!!!!!

jenne... there used to be some places in DC's chinatown that did dim sum. don't know if they're still there.

mauvaisroux 05-25-2004 10:46 PM

Mphhhh! Remind me to wear shin guards when we meet up for Dim Sum, ellis!

If the Irish pub was in the market it was probably The Heart and Crown or something like that. There are so many Irish pubs in the market right now they should be renaming it the Irish Quarter! :lucky: although my favorite pub right now is The Highlander Scottish pub - but then I am biased towards all things Scottish :D

jenne1017 05-25-2004 11:06 PM

I've never had chinese that wasn't take out -- and even then, I used to get sick in the stomach. Perhaps it's the cure for my IBS!!!!

We had some bad storms here tonight. I totally screwed up my OP day -- bought the wrong pita bread and had some as a "burger" before realizing it. It was only a bit but still. I also had some ketchup -- yum.

I figured, if I was going to ruin it with the muffin, 30 too many pistachios and some wheat pits, why not add ketchup!

OP tomorrow and I am going to try to be OP at home too.

Sounds like we really should plan another trip to Ottawa...we both love Irish pubs, and Scottish pubs must be really fantastic! :) Two of our good friends, Helen and Bryce, are from Scotland and I adore their accents, but more importantly, their wonderful sense of humor. Helen is always muttering about sprogs. ;)

Yup, Mauvais, get those shin guards in place. And you might want arm guards for Ellis' vacuum and potato charms. When she gets swinging, those things can be lethal! :lol3:

I think we have a "Dim Sum Or Bust" caravan ready to go!

Jenn, you might spend that much in gas, but when you buy in Canada, not only is it cheaper, but you think it's super cheap when you see litres as gallons!

jenne1017 05-26-2004 12:44 PM

A litre=a gallon?? REALLY???

How much is it there? Seriously. It's, on average, $2.07 her per gallon.

I wanna see a picture of your bracelet!!! I "made" one online yesterday -- $149.00 total without tax or shipping. Alas, I will do without!

Leenie 05-26-2004 12:58 PM

Trouble Makers ;)

mauvaisroux 05-26-2004 01:11 PM

Yep! That would be us!

justjodi 05-26-2004 01:17 PM

Well i guess i missed alot...... had to read back through these 50 posts 2 times let me get this straight??

ruth dumped elli's dad for her dh and has put poor sarah to work as a cart rolling hostess in the yard serving dim sum???

ellis is making up with jenne1017 but is really more interested in sil with dh's approval of course.

poor mavious has to wear her battle gear for dim sum next time or else tuck her shins under her at the table.

well for my 2 cents i am totally in for the car pool to ottawa dim sum, kisses, company whatever i have to see what it is in the air up there. the comedy routine is priceless!!!

i love the idea of the charm bracelet i had one when i was a kid. i asked my mom for it a few months ago and all she could do was remind me of the time when i moved out on my own at 19years old and she gave me a box of baby stuff she had been saving for years and it got lost in transit. that was 17 years ago mom!!!!....................oh well maybe she will leave MY charm bracelet for me in her will. i think i'll start a new bracelet. treat charm # 1 will be a palm tree

beachgal 05-26-2004 01:45 PM

Hi!

Actually, Jenn, a litre does not equal a gallon. It's a lot less, unfortunately! But we yanks are so used to seeing prices per gallon posted at gas stations that the first time you see a Canadian one, you think it is the cheapest gas you have ever seen! Then you pump and realize that your bill is something like 40 bucks! ;) Not really, but you get the picture...the price posted is per litre, not per gallon. Those Canucks are deceiving! (I'm allowed to make fun because my father is from Canada, eh!)

Jodi, you do the best (and most funny) synopsis I've ever seen! I think you should be official Synopsis Princess :queen: :D Too bad about your charm bracelet gone missing. I had a disney one when I was really little. It might fit on my thumb now, I suppose, but never on my wrist! ;) I'm very excited about my grown up one!

Jenn, I will try to scan in the bracelet when I get it back from the jewelers. I can't wait to hear the tinkling! Thanks for joining me in my excitement! I went to the site you posted about yesterday and it has some totally gorgeous stuff! Way out of my price range, unfortunately, but boy is it fun to look at!

Jody, at that site Jenn posted about, they have a section called "flip flops etc." and it has a beautiful palm tree pendant. If it is small enough, it would make a great charm!

Thanks beachgal, i feel so special it's my 1st day back on the beach and i have already been crowned :queen: (don't tell ellis she thinks she's the princess in here) :lol3: and just to clarify i could deal with a LOST charm bracelet but mine is being held hostage by my mom cause i was irresponsible (sp?) with a box of other stuff she gave me when i was 19yo  i know sad but true.
that site has a flip-flops charm??? i'm gonna check it out right now!!! thanks

beachgal 06-11-2004 02:47 PM

So, having lost another 10+ pounds, I get to order two more charms. I found two great ones, one a moveable baby carriage, the other a silouhette of a mother holding her child aloft. In looking, I found another charm site, this one with hundreds of charms. They have everything! http://www.michelesjewelry.com/charms1.htm

Now Ellis can add to her vacuum and potato by adding a pinto bean and a mosquito. :lol3:

ozziesgirl 06-11-2004 03:12 PM

Wow Beachgal you are doing sooo great. You must be so proud and happy!! Such cute charms, great idea.

beachgal 06-11-2004 03:31 PM

:thanks:

You are doing great, too! Tomorrow's your SBD anniversary and you've already lost 20% of your weight! :cp: Wow!

ozziesgirl 06-11-2004 04:05 PM

Aww thanks. And I have been getting discouraged because I haven't lost anything in 1.5 weeks or so. Thanks for the encouragement!!
