New to the Beach
I started the South Beach diet last week. By Thursday I had fallen off the wagon. The weekend didn't fare much better. However, I'm ready to try again starting today. I'm glad to have found this group!

Hello!
I am also having a hard time on the SBD. Maybe we could challenge each other to a little, "friendly competition"! What do you think? Like, whoever exercises for at least half an hour a day and stays true to the diet gets something good at the end of a couple of weeks? (clothing item or something). I've just had so much trouble but I realized it was because I was doing it by myself, I need a little competition! Missy19 |
Hi ladies
I too am new at the SBD ...I started it once but didnt get through to week three :( I lost 7 pounds and you would think that that would be enough to keep me in line but it didnt :nono: Maybe having people who are going through the same thing will be the way to stay on track. Have a great day and good luck ;) |
Welcome, new girls!
It is tough sticking out any "diet". Best of luck this time around. :lucky: |
Hi there!
I am on week three (first week of Phase 2), and I did it, you can totally do it! I am a major carb addict and have eaten everything I wanted and nothing I didn't for over five years. Here are things that have helped me: Put together things that you enjoy for your meals! Check out recipes online to help you find things that appeal to you. I loved the Taco Bake (in the recipe forum for this group), the stuffed chicken, white chili, and almond dijon chicken. They were all fabulous and helped me feel less like I was on a diet. Eat if you get hungry! This is really hard to do...your mind says, "If I am on a diet, I have to be hungry to lose!", but this is not true! Try to fill up with veggies, but feel free to eat low fat cheese and nuts, too. Clear all of your temptations out of your kitchen! I still have some tempting things in mine, but they take so much work to make (like mac n' cheese), that I was not really tempted. I am thinking of pulling all of the things I have out and donating them to local food banks. Maybe you can do the same! I do not know what damage it did to my weight, but I spent two weeks before starting the diet eating everything I knew I would miss. Not only did this ease the cravings I had and give me a sense of justice regarding my missing them now, but it made me a bit sick of greasy, fast food and made veggies more appealing! Get good tasting dressings! I love the Pfeiffer brand Ranch and Blue cheese...yum! Get someone to go on the diet with you! My husband, who is super-skinny, has gone on the diet with me, which has been awesome! Plus, I think it is helping him lose the tiny paunch he had! I hope these tips help! Keep posting and let us know what we can do to support you! |
Welcome to The Beach! Good advice from Chick On The Beach. The first two weeks are the hardest but it does get easier.

IMHO this is the easiest "way of life" to stick to!! I have never felt better, more fufilled, energetic etc... :)
Missy, if you want a competition we have the "may lose the fluff challenge" which is where we all put how many pounds we'd like to lose for the month and work our butts off to achieve it ;) There aren't any tangible prizes in obtaining your goal EXCEPT for looking and feeling better and knowing that you did it!! TN - Remember your water, water, water and also remember veggies are your friend ;) SBD has definately helped me to get back into eating my veggies :) Good Luck Michelle |
