to drink or not to drink?

Hey all Chicks!!

Day five and doing fine. Question....

Two of my friends want to go out for cocktails this weekend. And next weekend, a big cocktail party on Saturday. (I know, find friends that would rather work out than drink...is that possible?)

Anyway...did anyone break their phase one diet with a drink or two (but totally on plan otherwise) and how did it work out for them? Did your body go back to carb cravings??

Thanks,
MM

Hey Moon, I drank a glass of wine 2 or 3 times during Phase 1, but it was right before or with dinner, and it didn't seem to have much effect on me. No carb cravings, but I think eating dinner immediately helped.

Maybe eating something acceptable with a drink could work for you. I tend to think it's an individual thing; it all depends on your body.
Good luck. Jo

Thanks, Penny.

I was thinking I'd just have one or two glasses of wine, or sugarfree cocktails, with appetizers. I figure I'm going to stay in phase 1 for months, I'll just imbibe when we have functions...which is really not very often.

Yep, had a largish gin one night with girlfriends and got extremely tiddly ... had to stay for several hours to sober up so I could drive home (how embarressing). I blame it on the low carb eating as the starchy food usually soaks up the alcohol. I cleverly took gin with diet mix and a platter of vegie sticks so I could stay on plan. Didn't gain any weight but a little embarressing!

White spirits (vodka, gin, bacardi) is lower in sugar than wine and you can get it with a diet mix in a tall glass to make it look like you are having a coctail but don't aim to drive afterwards if you are eating OP.

I vote to drink as often as possible and as much as necessary!

My advice is the same. On these last two weeks of phase I have had wine with dinner twice. I also had skin-on dark meat chicken one night (it was barbecued -- who could resist!). I have lost weight in spite of both.

I would avoid the big sugar filled girly drinks with umbrellas, though! I can't see the harm in wine or a cocktail otherwise so long as you go for the lower carbs.

My advice is to drink clear liquor with sugar free tonic and eat a protein alongside. I also enjoy scotch and water with lemon, no problem for me. Mmmm, maybe I'll have one tonight.

Everyone mentioned liquers. I LOVE a couple of beers on Saturday night and I know that the Dr. says NO BEER. Well, I've only been OP since Monday and here it is Sat. night. I AM NOT having beer tonight, but OH BOY would I LOVE one! St. Paddy's came and went and I can say that I DID NOT have one!!! In my mind I did, but then I looked at the bod and thought "NO, I have to do this for ME!"

So, has ANYONE had any beer OP and not had cravings? I'm hoping for one by Easter. Any suggestions?

THANKS!

I think beer is especially bloating and since it is made from grains, it is the worst. I too love beer. In fact, I spent most of Weight Watchers drinking beer. Hence...my appearance at the Beach.

I'm planning to stick to wine or liquor.

Thanks for all the great responses guys.
