what hooked me to this eating plan...
...I have run for years (I have the big, muscular look) and even ran a marathon, with no weight loss during training!! Anyway, I was reading through my Runner's World last week and I spotted an article on nutrition and physiology. One column hit me so hard I must have reread it a thousand times. I could not refute the truth of this. It read:
"when your liver and muscle stores max out at a combined 500 grams of carbs-pretty much the case for the typical American moseying back from lunch hour-the surplus triggers a hormone, insulin, to spike, which causes the sugar leftovers to turn to fat. Some carbs provoke bigger spikes, and more fat-packing, than others-they have what's known as a high glycemic index." The terminology..."fat-packing," referring to leftover carbs as "sugar," this whole paragraph pretty much screamed "SOUTH BEACH DIET!!" just some musings on a Tuesday morning, MM :coffee: |
