Hi, new to the site...not the Beach!

Just wanted to say hi! I ran into this site and have found it very interesting. I've been South Beaching since the end of January. (did a little Dr. Phil before that) I'm an addict to sugar and carbs. I've tried every diet out there....just last year it was weight watchers (for the 4th time) and 6 months later it was LA Weight loss. Nothing like feeling a total failure. Well, I lost 15 pounds with Dr. Phil since October....fell off the wagon in December and gained 5 back. Typical of me. Starting at the end of January I found the Beach. My total loss is 29.5 pounds! The first week at the Beach was horrible for me. Shakey, headaches nonstop and feeling miserable. Now, I'm so happy and feel so good! I don't crave sugar, I was drinking about 8 pepsi's a day and haven't had anything. I haven't had candy....this is so not like me.

Anyway, I don't want to ever go back to eating that way again. Everyday for me is a stuggle and a challenge. What I can't believe is that I've stayed on the wagon.

I have 5 kids, work in a busy ER and have 2 grandkids. I haven't weighed this little in 10 years. I have a ways to go, but am headed in the right direction.

Wow RNMom (are you MY Mom, she's an RN Mom too!), that's great!

It is a struggle everyday. When I was in my eating disorder group years ago I remember the therapist telling me one day after a particularly grueling week, "Bulimia is like being an alcoholic. You will one day stop the act, but you will never fully stop the cycle." At the time I thought that was crap, to be honest. BUT now, ten years after that group meeting, I have stopped the act, but I do still struggle with it. It went from an every day struggle to a few times a week struggle, and maybe in ten years it will be a once a month struggle.

So what I am saying is, I know what you mean about the constant struggle. I am really impressed with your loss and your ability to stay focused!!!

Keep posting!

D.
