Friday!!!!!! chatting

Morning ladies (and any gents lurking out there)

Well, it is Friday at last can you believe it?? What joy. And the cat has had his tooth out now and is recovering rather too slowly. I will have to go and fuss over him.

Everything here is going well otherwise. I had the cauliflower mash last night and it was very nice, with some lean steak. I am going to have a go at making turkey burgers tonight (assuming I can be bothered).

Off to get my coffee, in true SB style.

xx

Ruthxxx 02-13-2004 06:38 AM

Good morning and TGIF!

I'm up and dressed and ready to tackle the day. I have been loafing around in my robe with the doggage for an hour or more every morning this winter but now's the time to switch routines. Nothing drags me down more than robe and slippers after more than an hour! Maybe I'm in Spring mode. On the other hand, it may be from having my hair cut yesterday and my feet all massaged by Nurse Darlene.

Finally I made a good choice yesterday in town! I was seriously considering a burger and fries lunch but went for groceries instead and got a 8 pack of veggie sushi and ate 4! Yes, I know rice is not SBD but it was certainly a better choice. I rewarded my self by buying tulips for my Valentines Day flowers - red and orange like a summer sunset. I'm having a hard time getting back on track with SBD.

There's a huge prehistoric orange animal in the lane next door - it's sort of a steam shovel with a hook on one end and a shovel thing on the other. Steve has finally decided to fix his dead water system and they are digging up the well. Now get this - I bought that house in the late 80's and put in a brand new well in the 1990's. So....they call in Ralph who bought it 39 years ago and asked him where to dig for the well. Ahem! I went out and explained where the new well was but.....four hours and $$$$ later they found the old well which was not connected to anything. They poked and probed and found my well finally. Men!!!!!!! I'm trying hard not to feel too superior and will refrain from comment when they get back to digging today. I may even offer them coffee and muffins later in the morning and try to smile rather than smirk.

Doggage are hollering at those terrorists who seem to be back so I'm off for coffee and will check in later.

ellis 02-13-2004 08:02 AM

Oh, Ruth. Men, indeed. That story is so familiar. Some of them have their good points, but they're all definitely lacking.
Good choices yesterday!! :hat: I'm having a hard time getting back on track, too. :( What we really need is a spade in our hands and some (unfrozen) earth to dig into. A bunch of flats to plant. A warm breeze. An Adirondack chair. Or a hammock. Perhaps a low-carb beer?
God, it's snowing.

Clovey, I hope your dear cat is better soon.
I forgot about that cauliflower mash! Maybe I'll make some tonight... it's pretty good.

Sil, I ALWAYS behave myself. :D How are you doing, girl? Are you still painting?

Hi Motts, Danielle, Den, Lizzi, Bamie, Emily, Dyna, January, Little Chick, Jennie, Pebbles, Franny, Chaz, Lisa, and I know I've forgotten some really important people... please check in. :D
Sflake! Where the heck is Sflake!?!?

Have to get my little DS off to school. Back later... :grouphug:

clovey 02-13-2004 08:15 AM

Hey look! We get hearts!! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

ellis 02-13-2004 08:20 AM

:) :) That Suzanne... she's always doing nice things for us. :) :)

Ruthxxx 02-13-2004 08:40 AM

:) :) :) :) "Ya gotta have heart! Simply miles and miles of heart."
Now who the heck sang that? It'll be stuck in my head all day!
:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

ellis 02-13-2004 08:43 AM

Well, thank you VERY much for sharing it and sticking it in MY head, you NUT!!!!

Ms24Gal 02-13-2004 09:05 AM

:) Oh I love Fridays! Any other morning and I dread getting up but not on Fridays

Went to Wal-mart and got hubby his Valentine's Day present. Just a nice card and teddy bear. BUT you will not believe what the card says. I usually pick the first card I see and it seems right; guess I didn't exactly read this one good though. IT says Happy First Valentine's Day! Gee we've been married 5 years...I wonder why this is our first Valentine's Day  Oh yeah leave it to me....but I'll give him the card anyway...he'll get a kick out it...I'll be 35 next month and I'm sure he'll tease me forever about the card :dizzy:

Hope everybody has a lovely day!

Ahhhh ....TGIF!!!!

Good Morning Sexy Chicks! ;)
I am sooooo happy it's Friday. Work has been hellish this week, the kids have been absolutely crazy (the whole build-up to the Valentine's parties at school today I'm sure!)...and I'm TIRED! And...the freakin' scale is still stuck at 150! #$@*!!!! I am still NOT dicouraged..I am going by the way I feel in my clothes...but it would be nice to see 149 someday soon!
I did rent a tae bo video which I am going to attempt this evening...maybe a little exercise will get the scale moving...I have been sooooo faithful to the WOE...really have not even introduced many carbs at all...some high fiber cereal & berries for bfast a couple times a week...but no other carbs at all (well other than veggies...but good ones). I do tend to choose red meat for dinner a lot....lean...but maybe that's doing it. Who knows..I shall keep the faith & plug along! Last night went to my DD's spaghetti supper at school (oh my...)...but I had 4 TINY meatballs & a bunch of salad & water. It was hard, but I did it....when they brought out the famous canoli cake I nearly fainted, but I passed it up! Yay! :smug:
Hey, has anyone subscribed to the LowCarb magazine I see advertised on this screen? It looks kind of interesting...I am debating...$19.90-something for a bi-monthly mag....
Well girls, better hit the books here...bill paying day at the office (ugghhhh), so there'll be lots of pissing & moaning from the office next door!
Have a wonderful weekend & sexy, romantic Valentine's Day!
Love,
Jan
XOXO

CrystalCaity 02-13-2004 09:24 AM

My first chat thread! Hi everyone! Hope your Friday is going better than mine! :dizzy: I caught a cold last night. Within 5 minutes, I went from happy and working on my book to sneezing and stuffy. How does that happen? AND! to boot, I have an interview this afternoon with a haughty taughty wine company. I don't want to have to walk in there snotting left and right!

At least I'm on program and still not smoking. There was NOTHING in the fridge for lunch today. NO-THING! I packed a salad and some organic chicken broth. It probably will be the best thing since I'm sickly! Hope everyone's day is just lovely!!

2BFIT1 02-13-2004 09:31 AM

Ruth~~I'm not sure who sang it but isn't it from the musical "Damn Yankees"?
When will men listen to us women??? Go figure!

I'm hanging in there. This week has been the most difficult for me. My mom had lots of beautiful clothes (very stylish for a 74 yr old ) and since I am the only one in the family that can fit into some of them, we sent a few boxes of them to my home. Yesterday was the first time that i felt like unpacking them. Lots of memories and emotions~but that's a good thing. Went out to dinner last night and wore her black sweater with the animal print collar. I felt alittle closer to her :) :) . Thanks for letting me ramble :grouphug:

Hair appt and errands for today. catch ya'll later :) :) :) :) :)

justjodi 02-13-2004 10:51 AM

Has anyone else rec'd a private message from a grad student doing research and wanting to use your posts in her research? Is this for real?
Jan

Ruthxxx 02-13-2004 11:40 AM

It may be real but I'd say no! What is the name? What we post here is supposed to be private and owned by the site!

Ruthxxx 02-13-2004 11:41 AM

OMG! I meant to send ellis a picture of my messy sewingroom and sent her a big picture file. She may never be back!

ellis 02-13-2004 11:48 AM

I'm here. I'm trying to get my Freecell score back up to 77 %. As you can see, I have time on your hands.
I got your pics, Ruthie. Your sewing room... You're not perfect after all!

ellis 02-13-2004 11:53 AM

I mean, "time on MY hands". No wonder I keep losing. I'm brain dead.

Ruthxxx 02-13-2004 11:55 AM

Hey! My Girls think I'm perfect! I'll send you a picture when I get it tidied up - if I am still alive by then!

Bamiegurl 02-13-2004 01:15 PM

:) :) Happy Valentin's Day To All My Lil Chickie's On The Beach :) :)

Hello all. Finally a chatty day. I miss all the chattin back n forth. I was so tired this morning and fell asleep on the couch watching t.v. and did not wake up until 11:30. OMG!!!! :o Well maybe I'm resting up for the big week-end! Both of our dear children will be gone til Sunday. ;) Makes me want to shout! Come on Now! Ok so I'm a lil excited! It has been a long time since we have spent much time together because of all the working on the rental house. It's only been 5 months. I'm sure we will enjoy just bein together without anything to do!

Has anyone seen those new shakes called Carb Options? It has no trans fat 6 carbs and 1g of sugar. It looks ok to me but I'm still not real hip on alot of the hidden junk. Any info any of you chickies might have would be helpful. I'm not big on breakfast in the morning so I am tryin to find a shake. I love breakfast but not til about 11 or 12 and then it is lunch time and I usually skip that and eat supper. But I am really trying to eat 3 times a day now.

Hello to everyone. Ruth, Elleis, January, justjodi, 2bfit1, crystal, ms24gal, Clovey and anyone else I missed. It's great to see you all posting! We should not wait until Friday to post like this! Let's all tell ourselves... I Must Post More!!!!

I hope we all have a great V-Day week-end. :) :) :) :) :) :)

Oh and Ruth I hate it when men act that way! It really just gets under my skin! But you know what I love is when I am right and you know they know even if they don't say it!

My smilies are not workin for some reason! :?:

Jennie527 02-13-2004 01:45 PM

Good Morning Ladies!

Today is a late start for me. I woke up in time to take my temperature this morning (I'm doing the basal temperature tracking thingy), and then I went back to sleep. Last night I did water cardio at my gym and the chlorine from pools always makes me really sleepy. That and DH and I were up later then normal doing a different kind of exercise. Granted it wasn't 2 hours, but it was a good 30 min!
2BFIT1- I did the same things when my mom passed away. I couldn't wear her clothes because I was only 11 but I kept some of her things that reminded me of her close by for a very long time.
MS24GAL- I always give my DH 2 cards on Valentines Day. I give him a funny one in the morning and the serious one at night. Here's the funny one:

Outside: I know you do a lot for me, go out of your way for me and do whatever you can to make me happy and since its Valentines Day, I just wanted to say-

Inside: I'M WORTH IT!

He'll like it! Well, it's time for me to get ready to go to the gym. Talk to you all later.

Hi Gang  Happy Friday, Early Valentine’s Day, Presidents Day etc…
I have been AWOL with good reason. Taking care of children is EXZHAUSTING!!! My 6 year old nephew has been living with us and honestly I don’t know how you gals with kids do it!! My hats off to ya! :bravo:

It seems my SIL has decided this whole wife - mother thing is over – rated and doesn’t want to do it anymore. Can you imagine? So we have taken in J so that maybe they can sort things out alone. On top of everything else my brother is in the middle of treatment for prostrate cancer. The child is an absolute joy and between the 3 adults we have in my house its not really that much different with a little boy in the house….yeah right

Hugs to you all! Must go, as my little bundle will be home soon and I think today is karate day or some such nonsense. Please forgive me for not mentioning everyone by name, but these days I am having trouble with my own

Bamiegurl 02-13-2004 02:21 PM

Hey Ruth it was unchecked and was not working so I checked it and it still did not work but i went back and unchecked it again and it works! :dizzy: Wheh alot of checkin goin on! Thanks for the tip your always on the money!

SFlake how sweet of you to take in your nephew. I'll keep you all in my prayers and hope everything works out soon. I have missed your post good to see one if only for a minute!

ellis 02-13-2004 02:28 PM

Oh, Sflake... that poor little boy. Thank God he's got you. I'll be saying prayers for you and your brother and your nephew, and... and... everyone! :grouphug:
Geez. That just breaks my heart. :(

Lizziepie 02-13-2004 04:15 PM

Hi Everyone: You are right, You've gotta Have Heart came from Damn Yankees. I think that the baseball players sang it led by Shoeless Joe. I really should remember it better, since that was one of the productions I did eons ago with my H.S,. Choir.

Ellis: I hope all this snow is gone, but the time I get up to the St. Lawrence in June.:D: We are going to make the trip once again. And I am not looking forward to that long drive.

Ruth: A foot massage sounds wonderful. You sound like cabin fever is taking over, with so much winter. You did well with your better choice. My numbers are not moving down either. Just stuck there. It is easy to get discouraged sometimes, and just say to ---- with it. But I haven't done it yet. Just plugging along.

I'll have a challenge the end of the month, since our Norwegian family will be coming for a visit. When we were there, it seems like all we did was eat. So what to do? I hope they are going to want to do the attractions part of the time.

S-flake: You certainly are a busy lady. How fortunate your little nephew is to have you. It has to be a tough message for a kid to take in.

Have a 'lovey' Valentines Day everyone. Lizzie

clovey 02-13-2004 04:50 PM

Lizzie! Norwegians like to eat Reindeer the whole time, with lingonberries. There is no other dietry option. Oh, well I suppose herring might work. But reindeer is wonderful. I had some in Sweden when I went there.

:) (making the most of the love heart here)
 (I like this one)
:^: (I have never entirely understood this one).

xx

ellis 02-13-2004 06:04 PM

Lizzie, we'll try to get it melted by the time you come up.

Why is everyone online? Shouldn't we all have hot dates? Or something? :D DH is downstairs on the drums. DD is at a friends. DS is watching a movie. And I have a hot date with my computer.

2BFIT1 02-13-2004 06:05 PM

january~~Does this student want to do research regarding the SBD or the fact that your DH/DBF can provide 2 hrs of :) "exercise" :) ??????? Be careful with strangers.
Happy Valentines Day to all you South Beach Beauties  :) :) :) :)
P.S. Tomorrow is also my 12th anniversary :dancer:

ellis 02-13-2004 06:21 PM

12th anniversary!! Don't you have a 20 year old son!? heh heh heh.
Have a wonderful day with your sweet DH. :hat:

2BFIT1 02-13-2004 06:25 PM

Ellis~~My son is 29 and was from my first marriage.

Ruthxxx 02-13-2004 10:37 PM

Happy Anniversary, sweetie!
