Question
Hey everyone, I wanted to try the south beach diet but what I don't like is the Phase 1 part. I'm not a big meat fan and I don't think I could live two weeks with just protein and low carbs.
My question is, could I start phase 2 instead and just suspect 1-2 pounds a week weight loss? Or is Phase 1 essential for Phase 2? Thanks in advance. |
This is an excellent way of eating but you should check with your doctor as you are a teen. Please do that. I'm sure he/she will agree that Phase II is healthy.

I think one of the main purposes of phase 1 is to get rid of the cravings for high carb items. I know that that was an important part for me since I'm a chocoholic! I'm into my second month of the program and saying NO to bad carbs has not been difficult for me. If you don't have a problem with food cravings, then starting off with phase 2 should be ok. As you said, you shouldn't expect huge weight loses each week. Once I went to phase 2, I started losing just 1 pound a week.
