I have been researching

This diet and may just take the plunge. I was wondering if anyone here has had any success with this WOE? Also if there are any Atkins people in here how do these 2 diets differ???

Thanks for all your help!!

A few differences are that :
Atkins: high fat, minimal carbs (20-40gms), induce ketosis

SB: low fat/healthy fats, lean meats, no carb counting, veggies allowed (see list) and NO ketosis.

Hi Hockeychic, and welcome. I thought you might wander over to The Beach.
Somewhere there is a post about Atkins/South Beach. I'll try to find it for you.

Q: How is South Beach different from Dr. Atkins' Diet? I've been doing Atkins for 6 months (successfully), and the two diets seem extremely similar to me.

Dr. Agatston: One major difference between SB and Atkins is that we emphasize the good fats that help our general health and aid long-term weight loss by fighting insulin resistance. We also do not count grams of carbs but look at glycemic index. You can actually have a high-carb diet and still have long-term weight loss if the carbs are low on the glycemic index. For most Americans, however, adding the good fats increases variety and satisfaction.
