Just Chat - Monday, November 3

Good Monday morning! I hope it's warm and sunny on your part of the Beach because it's exactly the opposite here in the wilderness of the Great White North! I think Ellis must have just hung out her laundry again - the best rinsed laundry in the Nation's Capital! :D

I seem to have shaken off my "intestinal unease" and am raring to go this morning. Gail comes to clean and I think we'll give her a break. I'll take Harry and the Girls for a drive to Brockville to do a wee shop for dog food and other exciting stuff. That will keep her from having to shift the crew as she moves from room to room.

Wonder of wonders! I managed to eat OP at the dinner after the AGM yesterday afternoon - beef, cole slaw and pickles. I resisted the pecan pies which were made by Kay Dean the champion butter tart baker. I did indulge in a vodka and diet tonic to toast the new Fair Executive. I was toasting mainly because I'm no longer Executive, just a lowly Director. :D

Today I absolutely must order firewood as there seems to be a shortage around here. I think those darn city folks are buying it up! I do have a big electric heater that would warm up the back room but it's a pig for power and electricity rates are going to rise this year.

I'm outta here to check the rest of the boards for spammers and obscenities. Not much excitement these days.

Happy Monday on The Beach!

Whimsey 11-03-2003 06:47 AM

wow! Spammers and obscenities?? What an exciting job! Up early this morning...just couldn't sleep...to many things running threw my head. Hopefully I will get some sewing done today. Just finished one quilt and working on another...Girls are fed...now I need to feed me!! Laters!

Ruthxxx 11-03-2003 07:12 AM

Whimsey, I need to brain-pick from you on quilting! I have lots of old embroidered white and cream linens and crocheted lace. I am getting the urge to make a really girlie-girlie quilt! Hmmmm.

ellis 11-03-2003 07:25 AM

Ruth, I took my bedding off the line LAST week! (and boy, did it smell good from hanging there in the rain for two weeks!)
Good idea getting out of the house. You'll come home and it'll be like some fairy came along and cleaned house.
Good staying OP, hon!!

Whimsey, stay busy, sweetie. Thinking about you... love and hugs... :grouphug:

I'm on my fourth day of Phase I (again) and I'm doing GREAT! I think I may have lost two pounds already. Finally I'm going back down...

Have a happy day, all!

LADY WINDSONG 11-03-2003 07:33 AM

I took my bedding off yesterday too. Must be something in the air!
Love that smell.....needs to be bottled.

YIPPIE!! I am down 2 pounds. I am in the 40's for the first time in 18 years!!

WOO HOO for all the losers....you know who you are.

Aw quilting......if only. Can't sew, but love to hear about people that do.

Have a nice day everyone.

The fires are responding much better with the cold and moist weather...the winds have quieted and people have been allowed to go home. One of the stores here have lifted their picket line to thank the people for honoring the strike and to help out with the mood here, I am grateful, am going tomorrow night and stocking up on my waters and stuff that I can't get other places...

I have been on a mock phase 1/low carb induction thing.l...I don't have much of a appetite, but that is probably stress, I did an ad that needs to go to print later today and then the content for my new website, which I will post when it is done..

ellis and marci....congrats on the loss
ruth, sounds like you did marvelous, we can't stop living and sometimes a cocktail is better than a sweet!!

whimsey--try and rest if you can today, your sleep will be off for a bit most likely...

Den take careof yourself!!!!!and have a great day to everyone else...

gmamary 11-03-2003 12:51 PM

Good Afternoon Ladies! It is very cold and snowing again...Oh well, I have a supply of firewood so I can go home and light the fireplace and relax!

I did not do very good this weekend, but I am back on track today! I think I have lost some weight since starting on SB - my clothes are fitting a little better.....the main thing is I am feeling better. I wish I would have not screwed up this weekend - I sure can feel it today!

Have a great day!!!

Hello, ladies, can I be a new beacher with you? I did spend last weekend on the beach - at Nags Head. It was heavenly weather. I was with 3 of my quilting buddies. We ran away from our husbands and spent our time on the beach, quilting and shopping in thrift stores and consignment shops.

Ruth, I've seen quilts where the old doiles, hankies and lace were used for the skirts of ladies or fans. Very pretty. I love to hand applique and hand quilt, but I also to machine.

I've read the book and been working on this for awhile and all I can say is SB is for me! It is almost exactly what the dietician has me on and she says its good for me to follow it. Finally got me losing again.

I love the ricotta desserts.

For those of you who need firewood, I wish I had a way to get some to you because we have tons of it all over from Hurrican Isabel - 8 trees in my neighbor's yard (fortunately we were spared). We're all helping him cut it up and haul it away. The clean up has been going on for 6 weeks now and there's still a lot to be done.

Ruthxxx 11-03-2003 04:39 PM

Hi, Susan, and welcome. It's nice to see you on The Beach.

Whimsey 11-03-2003 05:28 PM

Susan...welcome...you quilted on the beach with sand and dirt??? How did you do that? I know a quilter isn't going to do anything to muss up a quilt...they are alot of work!! haha Glad to have a fellow quilter aboard...I cooked some turnip greens today while I worked. YUM...Beats a crockpot meal!!! We quilters are experts at crock pot meals. haha (thats one of the reasons we are chubbies):D

Hey everyone-

late check in here. Did very well and stayed OP today. Also dyed my hair. lol. Have not done that in a long time. My hair is naturally brown and I decided to try Golden Blonde. The result? Well my hair is strawberry blonde. It's actually pretty cool and I am pleased with how it turned out.

Not much else going on, just trying not to stay to bored (I am by myself tonight...no kids, no dbf for the 4th night in a row)

Glad everyone is getting back on track and even losing pounds, how cool!

My mom quilts....I attempted once and it flopped but I am not the worlds greatest sewer in the first place.

Gonna run, hope everyone has a wonderful evening! :)

Hey guys! Thought I would stop in for a quick one before Monday is gone.

My sister and her DH are in town. I thought they were only going to be here a couple of days, but they are staying all week! Since we leave Friday for our cruise (yeah!) this is going to be a neat trick....playing hostess and getting all my stuff done! They are staying in their RV at a campground nearby and don't expect to be entertained. But I haven't seen them in 9 years (o:) and want to spend time with them. Tonight I drug my sister along to Target to buy DS two pairs of shoes. The loaners we thought would fit would have....last month! And school shoes were about to fall off his feet. Oh well.

Still not smoking, but not eating very well, either. I have week off, so being home is always a struggle. I should pack my lunch the night before just like I was going to work! My DH would think I was a loon. Ah, so what...he already thinks that.

Sil, you should be good to go for Beach Beauty Bingo! Post some pics! Glad you liked the headless horseman. DS loved it, and I was pleased that it turned out so well.

Went to the orthodontist today, and how I have rubberbands connecting my top and bottom teeth! I suspect I will have to go back on a soft food diet for a few days as my molars are very tender already and it has only been a few hours. :fr: This whole thing had better pay off with a georgeous (and healthy/functional) smile!

Oh, the clan tartan cummerbunds and bowties I ordered from Scotland for DH & DS to wear with their tuxes came today...they are absolutely beautiful! I will definately post pics when we return.

I will try and do a quick Boot Camp Challenge tomorrow, but I think that will be it until after vacation. I am just too preoccupied this week to be much good. Maybe I can get someone to take over? Any volunteers? :drill:

I was feeling stressed tonight, but stopping in here and spending some time with my friends has helped so much! Thanks for being here! :grouphug:
