Newbie needs Phase I help!!

Hi there,

Okay, so I'm on day 3 of Phase 1 and doing relatively okay. I have the fatigue :tired: and headaches :headache: that I've seen others mention, but I'm getting through that okay enough.

I don't have the book (since people have said the info is updated and more current/available on different boards and websites) so I'm trying to piece together from everything what exactly I should be eating. :?:

I thought the lists of food were "free" to eat until you were full, but now I see that there are limitations -- I saw from the book that you should have "normal portions" of proteins -- so which is it? Eat until you're full or limit what you have?

Is there a certain combo of food to have at meals and at snacks? I saw somewhere to have 1/2 cup veggie at breakfast (which is tough since I'm on the go) and 2 cups at lunch and 2 cups at dinner -- is that definite? And then how much protein at each? Oil/fat too (at each)? And what makes up the snacks?

And I saw for meat substitutes (which are what I live on for most of my protein -- other than fish and eggs) that there are limitations, like 2 pieces of veggie bacon and 2 veggie sausage links a day -- but does that mean I could have 2 of this item and 2 of that item and 2 of some other item as long as I don't have more than the one serving of one particular type of item, or am I limited in what I can have even more somehow?

Thank you so much for the support and assistance -- everywhere I look on this board there are amazing, helpful, friendly people. :goodvibes:

Take care,
Em

Em,
I'm sorry, I don't have the answers to a lot of your questions, but I do know that you eat until you're full, but not overfull. Regular sized portions, eaten slowly, will probably satisfy you. I recommend eating until you're satisfied, not until you're full to bursting. :-D I have no idea about the veggie/fat amounts, the book doesn't say anything about that, and I'm doing fine without militantly measuring everything I put on my plate. Good luck to you, I hope someone else is able to answer the rest of your questions!

Thanks Harmony. How's it been going for you since you switched from Atkins?

EmBlue, I have many of the same questions you do and I have read the book!!! Unfortunately, it wasn't as helpful as I had hoped -- but that's why I found this site and the people here are amazing!!!

I lost 55lbs in one year on atkins. I started atkins 4 years ago so I have actually kept off about 35 lbs for 3 years now! ww didn't work for me nor did going back to atkins. I have trouble staying on any plan lately! especially since i don't understand so much of this one yet! I started sbd but had holidays and other excuses to not stay on plan. now it's time to buckle-down and get healthy! PLEASE lemme know if you figure out how!!! :)
