Phase 1 Question - Help!
I know we can have 1 tomato with each meal, but I wonder if we can use a jarred sauce.
Here's what I have: Trader Joe's Red Pepper Marinara. Contains all natural ingredients, olive oil. It's low fat. All the ingredients are allowable, but it does contain some sugar. Here are the stats: 50 cal., 8 g carbs, 3 g sugar. Can I use it on Phase 1? About 3/4 cup on a serving of spaghetti squash and meatless meatballs. If not, my plan is to use diced tomatoes and make a light sauce with a little olive oil and garlic and herbs. (But I think the red pepper sauce would be nicer.) Thanks for your insight! :^: |

I'm on day 2 of Phase 1, too! I'm not sure about the prepared tomato sauce, though. It's lunchtime and I'm totally craving bread! Although this salad and chicken is very filling. |

Don't have my book handy but I think I remember 3g carbs & 3g sugar to be ok. If you can't find one like that (I can't) I would say the lower count the better, that's what I do, look for the lowest. Or if you are a good cook (like I'M not) make your own homemade :D
