Salmon Update

Many of you may know that my cooking stinks, well last night I made salmon for the first time and it was WONDERFUL! I did it in the broiler with lemon, butter & dill. I am the only one who likes fish so I also did chicken for everyone else the same way.

It didn't take long so it was very easy to cook 2 diff. meals. I served it with spinach. I think when I have more time I'm gonna try Rowans cuke dill sauce as that sounds great!

Next time maybe I will poach it like Rowan suggested as there was quite a bit of smoke from the oven but it was absolutely a keeper! and I would not hesitate to cook salmon again :D

Thanks to everyone for all your help and encouragement!

P.S. I didn't even think to look at the recipes in the book. thanks Lizziepie :) for some reason I think of the book as just the plan and forgot all about the recipes. This whole cooking thingy is kinda new for me

I absolutely LOVE salmon. And love that it is so easy to cook too! I share your cooking dilema. Congrats! My favorite combination is salmon with steamed asparagus. Yummmy

Way to go sflake! We knew you could do it!
I like salmon grilled, sprayed with a little olive oil, garlic powder and lemon-pepper seasoning. Yum!

Keep experimenting! Some of my best meals were variations of recipes.

Something that is easy to cook, lends itself to variation. There are so many different spices and herbs to use, which changes the flavor a lot. Keep up the good work Sflake. You will be surprised at how good you will get, and I hope you will begin to enjoy cooking. It can be a very creative 'art'. My mother and two uncles were professional cooks, and I had good teachers. I just enjoy cooking and experimenting. There are a lot of good recipes in the book. But we didn't like the meatloaf recipe as is. it was way too bland. It needed to be 'kicked up' in flavor. Lizzie

Sflake ... good job cooking salmon for yourself!!! I cook two meals every night and even though sometimes it's a little hectic it's worth it ... half of my house won't even LOOK at a vegetable ... they want french fries or white rice every night!! I cook enough for myself to have the leftovers for lunch the next day.

Yeah Sflake....salmon is so good, and so good for you. The poached salmon is yummy and it will last a few days in the fridge. The cucmber sauce is also very good on salad and vegetables....

I am so proud of you!!! Fish can be intimidating!!!

Cooking is a wonderful and creative hobby - and you can eat the results ....most of the time. :D It's not like macrame that ends up gathering dust!
