Happy New Year! I hope 2022 is the best for all of us in every possible way!
It is starting slowly here with coffee. We stayed up until midnight and watched the ball drop on TV, so not much partying, but the weather is super foggy and very conducive to sleeping in. For some reason the geese on the lake are really noisy this morning, honking and fussing at each other. I wanted to fuss at the scale, too, this morning! It was up a tad from yesterday, but that is probably due to the salt on the soft pretzel that I had for a New Year's Eve treat. I'll need to stay away from those if I want to make any kind of progress in 2022.
What's happening with you? Drop by and share, if you can!

Happy New Year! we stayed home and I went to sleep before midnight, I was super tired and sleepy. I believe hubby also went to bed before midnight. Yesterday we also stayed home, in the morning we sprayed the weeds and cut the grass, and just chilled the rest of the day. This morning went to church and we will be heading out in a few to grab some lunch.
This past few weeks I have been eating too much sugar and gluten. As I mentioned before my doctor wants me to keep a diet with no gluten, sugar, dairy, or grains. I have decided for my own good that I should give Whole 30 another try. Hopefully, Whole 30 will help me tame my sugar dragon, and since this diet is like Paleo but a bit more strict I will also be off dairy, gluten, and grains.

Happy New Year, Muffin! We had a quiet New Year, too. And I, too, have been too much into the sugar and carbs these last couple of weeks. Today, I started off better and just finished a 58 minute walk. Had I realized that was that close to an hour, I would have gone a little further. Silly, I know, but sometimes it's the little things I read the Whole 30 book not too long ago when it was available free on Amazon Prime. The author is upbeat and enthusiastic with lots of ideas for meals and things. It did seem challenging, but your doctor is encouraging you and you did report that your symptoms were better eating that way. I know you can hop back onto it in the new year and feel much better! Hopefully, we both will!

I can't believe half of the day is already gone. This morning the boys were off from school so we went to do some volunteer hours at Give Kids The World. We helped take down the Christmas lights, the weather was perfect but my poor back is killing me. I don't know how many we took down but we volunteered for 3hrs, that place is pretty big. I was told that it usually takes them about 2 to 3 weeks to get all the lights down. The good thing is that we are home now and I already have my 10K steps in
So today, I started the new diet and so far so good but it is only day 1. For these 30 days, I will be eating very similar to PH1 and 2 together.
Breakfast was 2 fried eggs with shredded potatoes, green onions, and tomatoes. Instead of coffee, I had green tea. I do can have coffee, but I'm trying to drink less.
Lunch- stirfry (broccoli, mushrooms, onions, green beans, carrots, and snap peas) and leftover chicken breast. I roasted a whole chicken yesterday and turn out very good I also had an apple and 1tbs of almond butter.
For dinner, I will be having lettuce tacos (ground turkey, tomatoes, onions, and lettuce leaves) and a green smoothie (spinach, celery, parsley, cucumber, banana, lemon juice, and collagen peptides)
I did weigh in this morning and I'm not too happy about the scale being up again, but I know it was my fault. Oh well, it is what it is.
MJMS- how is your day so far?

Good Tuesday Morning! Weight is inching down a bit, but still more to go to get back to where I was before the holidays. Eating was not too bad yesterday until I got into the pretzels last night. Sigh. Salt and carbs. Not good!
We finally had some snow yesterday. Only an inch or so here, but pretty! It's much colder today than it has been. It as 23 degrees at 9:00 this morning. But the sun is out now, and it looks like a pretty day. Later I will accompany my DH to his eye doctor appointment for his upcoming surgery. But because of Omicron Covid variant that it just exploding around here, I will stay in the car and wait. He doesn't need me at the appointment obviously, but it is nice for him to have company for the ride since it is a bit of a drive. I have a curbside pickup to make at Boscov's Department Store sometime soon, too. And I need to get some exercise in at some point. Also, I have a sewing project going right now. I guess I will be staying out of trouble today, IF I can stay out of the pretzels! And the website Apartment Therapy is having a January declutter challenge where they send you a task to do every day to help you get a handle on your clutter that they call the January Cure. It started yesterday and I am already behind! Yikes! I need to get on that, too!
Muffin, how wonderful that you and your boys did all that volunteer work! Kudos to you and them! I can imagine how tired and sore you must have been, though. There was probably a lot of stretching involved, not to mention all those steps! You are going to be lapping me big time in the weight loss department between being so active and having such good meals planned! Keep going!

Happy Saturday! I haven't posted in a while. DH and DS2 started to get symptoms on the 5th at first we thought it was just the flu but we decided to still test for Covid and they were positive. DS1 and I also tested but we were negative. Last Monday both DS1 and I got really sick too. The family is feeling great now, except me, I'm still fighting the symptoms but getting better. We are hoping to be able to test again tomorrow to see if they can go back to school.
Food-wise, I have stuck to my plan, I have no cravings and I'm really enjoying my food I won't be able to weigh in until the end of the month but I'm happy to report that my ankles are not swollen anymore and I have no knee pain
MJMS- how are you doing, are you keeping warm?

Oh, Muffin! I am so sorry that you and your family have been sick! So many people have come down with Covid since this new variant. Thank goodness that you were all vaccinated. I know you have been feeling awful, but it could have been so much worse for all of you. That is great news about your ankles not being swollen and your knees not hurting and no cravings! You are making fantastic progress in spite of being sick.
I have been just hanging out at about the same weight. I have not been especially motivated to make any progress. I think I am just sort of in a slightly down kind of mindset with all this bad virus news again. The temps have been in the teens the last couple of days so walking outdoors isn't too appealing. And tonight, we are getting snow, sleet and freezing rain. I am sure glad that I don't have anywhere I have to go tonight or tomorrow. The roads must be treacherous.
I hope everyone is staying warm and safe tonight. And I hope that you and your family are doing much, much better Muffin!

Good morning! Yesterday was a rainy and cloudy day and today we wake up to a cold morning. Our highest today is 63F I. The husband and the boys did an in-home test kit yesterday and the boys still showed positive but the husband was clear. Neither of them has symptoms so the husband was able to go back to traveling and the boys are supposed to retest tonight to see if they can go back to school tomorrow. As for me I still have a very faint taste and smell. I also have some congestion but I'm feeling much better. Regardless of how we are feeling we are all keeping our distance and wearing masks all the time.
MJMS- I'm really sorry to hear you are not too motivated, I do hope the weather wasn't too bad last night and that you are keeping safe.

Muffin, hooray for everyone feeling better! I hope that you get to 100% feeling good again soon! I also hope that the boys were able to get back to school today. They are such good students that being out is probably making them anxious about what they might be missing and about falling behind.
I am hanging in there and I am sure that my motivation will be back sometime soon. I think it is just a January slump with too much in the house and paying too much attention to the news.
Have a great day everyone reading this and feel free to join us! I think I will go look for another coffee

Hi everyone,
MJMS and Muffin, Hi! I don't know if you remember me - I posted quite a bit back in the 2010s. I once again find myself needing to get back on the Beach. This time, my husband is doing it with me. We start on Saturday, and I'm refreshing my mind about doing Phase 1. Glad to be back here and I look forward to posting with you all again.
Question: I forgot how to create a weight tracker. Can either of you point me in the right direction?

Welcome back, Mmckellen! I do remember you posting previously, but I was mostly lurking then. I rarely ever posted. I should have, though! How awesome that your hubby is starting with you. It makes it so much easier to clean out the pantry and fridge and then stay on plan.
I'm still struggling here to find my motivation, but you know, I still don't go as far off the rails as I used to do. I am slowly climbing back on the plan. Maybe today I will make it an on-plan day. I forgot to weigh today, but I have been hanging around the same weight the last couple of weeks. I probably need a grocery run but I am a still a little leery of the salad situation. Too many recalls lately! Of course, that is an excuse because there are plenty of other veggies that I could prepare that are good, too.
Muffin, I hope that you are continuing to recover. So many people have gotten covid with this last variant. Our positivity rate has finally started to improve the last few days. Were the boys able to go back to school yet?
It is snowing here right now, and the flakes are huge. The temp is supposed to drop as the morning goes on and they are saying one to two inches. Hopefully we don't get any icing. Must be January!
Grab a coffee and join us, if you are reading and have a great day!

back Mmckellen! so nice that your husband is joining you this time. For my weight tracker, I use https://www.tickerfactory.com/ and then I added the hyperlink you get from them in my signature. To access your signature you need to click on your avatar to open your forum settings.
The boys were able to go back to school and they couldn't be happier and I'm finally feeling better too. This week, I have been struggling with some cravings and I think it is because I was alone in the house and not keeping myself busy enough to distract me from the kitchen. The good news is that I didn't cave in and I have been sticking to my meal plan. My energy is finally getting back too which is good because I have been feeling very sleepy and tired lately.
MJMS- I hope the snow wasn't too bad. How was your eating yesterday, were you able to stay on plan?
Mmckellen- Good luck on your 1st day tomorrow, remember to drink lots of water and to increase your sodium a bit so you don't get the SBD flu that some people experience during the 1st week. Are you going to meal plan? feel free to post your meals
