I got into some stress eating in spite of my good intentions. Ugh. But not horrible, so that's good and the scale inched down ever so slightly. I did get a 2.5 mile walk, which was nice. Apparently, my dental insurance is actually pretty good after all and the person at the dental office made the mistake. My insurance was even able to tell me who called from there, what day and what they were told. They said that they would contact the dentist and today I will follow up with a phone call. But the good news is that my check up and cleaning are covered 100% and the two crowns at 50%. Being out of network for this just means that I have to pay up front and then get reimbursed. I can handle that, thank goodness. Now if I handle getting the crowns...I am a very anxious dental patient!

Syckgirlsfv, hope that your mammogram and bloodwork go well today! TGIF, but it stinks to have a day off for appointments. Hopefully you can salvage the afternoon and slide right into a relaxing weekend!

Pattygirl, BIG congratulations for 5 pounds! Wow, you are doing so great! Your hard work is paying off! I never did get back to reading the SB Keto. I think I better check it out and pay more attention so I can catch up to you! I haven't lost 5 pounds in a week for many years. Probably since my first week on Phase 1 in 2004. Hope your pizza was good!

Hi to Muffin and anybody else reading! Have a great Friday and an even better weekend!

Good afternoon, I'm so happy it is finally Friday
This week has been so chaotic and I'm exhaused. I hope I can get some rest tonight, On Wednesday the smoke alarm went off at 3am...it was a scary moment but, I was happy to know it was due to a low battery. For some reason Thursday and last night I also wake up at 3am and wasn't able to go back to bed
The boys got their second Covid shot yesterday, DS1 is having joint pain and DS2 is having headaches but they are ok. Food-wise I haven't made choices, but I have eaten out. I don't do well when eating out. I think it has to do with higher sodium. I gain 2lbs, I think is water retention.

Syckgirlsfv Hope your bloodwork and mammogram go very well today.

MJMS I don't like going to the dentist and put it off way too long. I need to find a new dentist which is what makes it hard for me because I am so afraid of getting someone who isn't as gentle as the one I had in SC.

I'm not sure I am really KSB especially Phase 1 unless you could call it call it Phase 1.5 because I do eat some grains once a day. If that is what 1.5 means then that is what I do and probably something between SBDSC & KSB. Weight is up 2.2 lb today but that is pretty much a pattern with me. I usually weigh more the day after WI. However, this time, I ate cashews last night which I might have gotten by with if I had measured them, but I didn't. So will to be careful with that next time. I am determined to get into the 170s before I see my doctor in August.

Muffin Hope you are feeling alright.

Have a great day Everybody.

I am finally back down to where I was weight-wise, with .2 of a pound more. I like that this scale tells me tenths of a pound when I lose so slowly. Otherwise it would look like it never moves. Of course, I feel differently when it is going up, lol! Today I can control my food choices until supper. We are going to our daughter's house for the late afternoon/early evening. They are healthy eaters mostly, so I will just try to choose wisely and watch my portions. I hope I can be strong! It's also supposed to be hot and humid with thunderstorms. Kind of icky for being outside. We'll see about walking later today.

Muffin, I hope that you got some good sleep last night and that you got to sleep in today. I think you might want to try and grab a nap if you can, too! It is so awful not being able to get a good night's sleep. I am not a good sleeper either and last night was not a good night, so I know exactly how you feel. It is so hard to lose weight when you don't sleep. You crave comfort food, you don't want to prepare good food, you don't have the energy to exercise and it is just sooo hard to make good choices. Hopefully this weekend is a reset for you and you won't be waking up at 3 anymore! I'm sure the added weight was just sodium, like you thought, too. I hope your boys are feeling better today. Most people that have had a reaction are much better in a day or so. The scary stories that I hear about long covid and the new variant that is circulating that is so much worse and more contagious make a day of discomfort from the vaccine infinitely preferable, that's for sure! There is so much peace of mind that comes with being vaccinated.

Pattygirl, I read more of the SB Keto yesterday. I think I am on chapter 6 where he is detailing menus for the 28 days of phase 1. I will have to read those over carefully to get a good idea of how you eat on this new plan, but my first impression is that it isn't a lot of food! He does say that you are not hungry if you follow it because your body adjusts and feels full on the protein and fat. I'll keep reading and see. I was also surprised that in Phase 2 the fruits were so limited. I noticed that oranges and clementines were not included. I expected not to see watermelon and pineapple but not oranges. I hear you on the cashews! Actually for me, pretty much all nuts. So, so hard to limit those servings! It never seems like much when you see what a serving is. I find that I do better with them if I get the unsalted ones. They don't taste quite as good and I do better (sometimes!) about limiting my portions.

Syckgirlsfv, I hope to hear that your tests went well and you are having a great weekend! Maral427 and CrystalBelle, I hope you pop back in and let us know how you are doing. And anyone else reading, jump in and tell us about your SB journey! We would love to hear from you!

sMuffin We must have been typing at the same time yesterday because I didn't see your message until just now. The only problem I had with the 2 vaccine shots was tiredness and my arm was sore around the injection area. I hope your boys feel back to normal today are tomorrow.

I almost always have a bump of 1 or 2 lbs when eating takeout due to the sodium. I always hate that it usually takes me a few days to get that weight back down. Also some foods like processed sauces can cause the same thing but I have no desire to make them from scratch so that is probably why it takes me so long to lose.

MJMS I don't think I even want to do a strict keto even a KSB. At my age I really don't want to spend as much time in the kitchen cooking everything from scratch. I am one of those cooks who doesn't like it if I can't get it ready in 15 minutes. However, I do like to put things in the crockpot and let it cook until I'm ready to throw veggies around it. However, I did get some good info from the book and will work some of the ideas into my plan.

I am working at keeping carbs kind of low and will probably move into a Phase 1.5 when my 2 weeks is up as I sure would like to have some fruit at least once a day in my yogurt. So I use the SBD SC and tweak it to fit my lifestyle along with Intermittent Fasting and tracking on MFP.

Weight back down to 181.2 today. As I said it takes a few days to get that sodium weight gain off.

Hope everyone has a great day.

I did well with my eating yesterday and got lots of exercise at the playground with my almost 3-year-old grandson. It was a beautiful playground that isn't too far from their house and it was a lot of fun. Then we had lots of playtime on the floor at home with the magnetic building blocks. I was tired last night but mom said that at 9, he was still resisting sleep. Hopefully for their sakes, he slept in! Today we are doing a video call with the other grandsons for Father's Day and other than that, I think I may hide out indoors mostly as it is supposed to be in the 90's and humid. The sun is poking out but it looks hazy. I'm planning on an on plan day today and hopefully the scale will be kind tomorrow. No gain from yesterday and the scale was down just a tiny bit. I want to hold onto that!

Pattygirl, I hear you about not wanting to spend a lot of time in the kitchen anymore! I don't have the interest in that like I used to. I get annoyed with myself sometimes about that because I do have the time, but I really just don't want to! My son and DIL gave me an airfryer for Mother's Day and my first thought was that I wasn't sure that I wanted or needed it, but now that I have used it, I love it! Things go quick in there, you don't need much oil for food to brown and crisp up and if foods are greasy, like meat, it drips right off as it cooks. It turned out to be really easy to clean, too. I still don't have a place to store it out of the way so it's on the counter, not my favorite choice, but I am okay with that now since I use it often. I didn't read more of the SB Keto yesterday, but I am not sure it is for me, either. I'll keep reading though, just to make sure. The weight loss and the benefits Dr. A. promotes in there sure do sound attractive. Happy Father's Day to your hubby!

Muffin, hope yesterday was good and that your boys are back to feeling like themselves again. I hope you and them have a nice Father's Day with your hubby!

Syckgirlsfv, hope you are doing well, too. Enjoy your Sunday, as I know you mentioned that these are busy weeks at this time of the year for you at work!

Happy Sunday everyone! Stay cool and take some time to relax!

MJMS Sounds like fun with your grandson. It is nice you can get on the floor to play with him. I can't do that kind of thing any more.

My weight up a little but just a fluctuation from the soup I used to cook my chicken breast in. DH has difficulty eating really dry meat and so I like to have gravy for him. The only problem is the sodium and sometimes I can wash it off mine but didn't yesterday. I think I have already moved into kind of a Phase 1.5.

Hope everybody has a really nice Sunday.

Good Monday Morning! It's supposed to be steamy and stormy here today for the first day of summer. The scale was cranky today. Bah! I was on plan yesterday but it went up .4. Stupid scale! Well, I'm pretty sure it's not up fat, so I'll keep plugging away today. I DO feel better when I eat right, so there's that, too. No big plans today, just the big domestic. I was looking at recumbent bikes online since today is supposed to be a big sale day with Amazon Prime and everybody else jumping in with sales, but the one that I am most interested in isn't on sale anywhere, so no hurry deciding whether to order. I can use the one in our condo complex exercise room, so maybe I need to make more of an effort to get over there on these hot days when I don't want to walk. My knees have been bothering me, so I think strengthening them with the bike riding would be helpful. And the calorie burn, too.

Pattygirl, I hope your hubby had a nice Father's Day and that you had a nice Sunday, too. That sodium stuff is so frustrating, isn't it? And it shows right up on the darn scale! I think if you are not having cravings, moving to Phase 1.5 or even a full Phase 2 is not a bad thing, especially if you watch the carbs. In either plan, the Keto or the Supercharged, Dr. A. says you will lose weight. I think that there is value in healthy carbs like fruits, vegetables and whole grains, for satiety, variety, nutrients and fighting food boredom. OF course, I am no expert. Otherwise, I wouldn't have so much more to lose! We'll get there, though!

What's everyone else up to on this first day of summer? I hope it's a good one and that we are all eating on plan, drinking our water and exercising!

morning everyone!

thank you all for the well wishes on the blood and mamo. Now I guess I wait! I really hope my cholesterol isn't high because my doctor keeps trying to get me on statins. I keep telling him no lol

I am up 2 water pounds again, of course. Celebrated with DH for fathers' day...we had a rather bad experience trying to find somewhere to eat! Each restaurant we tried had an hour wait, so we decided Acapulco would be a good idea since they have huge dining areas. BAD IDEA. Apparently, because people are happy with their unemployment checks, they don't want to go back to work. SO, the restaurants don't have enough servers. They told us 30 minutes when we got there which was better than all the other places, but after 45 minutes I went to talk to them only to find out that the kitchen was backed up and even though there were empty tables they couldn't fill them because of the lack of staff. This was after I pointed out that the people on the patio waiting for their food said they had been waiting for 45 minutes already! I asked if that's how long it would take to get food once we were seated and the host said yes. We left. And there were people STILL waiting to get seated that were there before us, having no idea that they'd still be waiting for their food for another hour. I was so pissed! They should have let people know! It was already 8 pm...so we ate fast food (jack in the box lol) and thus the water gain this morning (the whiskey was part of it too ha ha). BUT, that sourdough jack was delicious!

OK - back on plan! Coffee so far this morning I am working from home so I'll do a step workout at lunch. My PS5 is out for delivery today so I have to stay put - sad that you can't trust people to NOT take your packages if you aren't home anymore. It requires a signature, but so did my Xbox and the FedEx guy left it on the porch without even ringing the bell. This world. Ugh.

I'm going to make a scramble of egg whites, roasted turkey breast, zucchini, and mushrooms in a bit. Back later! Everyone have a great day!

My day was busy but good. I know we don't have to count carbs but I am trying to keep them moderately low and I'm doing pretty good with it today. We got KFC today as that is one of DH favorite takeout when we go to the store. I am finding it easier to keep the carbs down if I do it with Intermittent Fasting.

I usually take the breading off of the chicken but I decided to eat it this time but still kept the net carbs down.

My weight is fluctuating between 180 and 182 right now which probably just sodium.

MJMS Yes DH had a nice day. I tried to cook him a steak for dinner but it turned out to be a bad steak I had bought at Walmart that I had forgotten I had. I bought better steaks from Sam's Club today and will try cooking one of those this week.

Syckgirlsfv and Muffin Hi

morning! I really need to get it together, geez! DH bought whiskey last night and of course I shared it with him...4 shots. that is 2 too many in terms of water retention! Grrrrr...

today is a new day...no more alcohol for me until the weekend, if that. I don't want to go the wrong direction on the scale, especially since I still want to lose 10 more pounds.

breakfast on plan today - egg whites, turkey breast, zucchini, spinach, tiny amount of shredded cheddar, light sour cream, green salsa
lunch (planned) - almond flour tortilla grilled with either bbq chicken or a turkey burger patty, with melted pepper jack.
dinner TBD

I will fit in another step workout today since I had whiskey last night. Weights will have to wait until the weekend, since I will now be in the office W, Th, F each week. You ladies have a great day!!!

Hi Everyone! What a super rainy day today! And the lightening last night was unbelievable! And it was still light out so late last night. It really did seem like the longest day of the year with the light fading closer to 9.

The scale was kinder today and I am down a little bit more. I hope it lasts. And I hope I can get a good walk in this afternoon.

For a split second, I thought I spotted a recumbent bike at Costco this morning, but it was an upright bike and they had a weight bench that they were also selling pushed underneath it and it looked like the seat on a recumbent bike. They almost got me! I think the rainy day kept the number of shoppers down and we almost felt like we had the Costco to ourselves. I know that you don't want to hear that Muffin! I didn't spot the wraps, Syckgirlsfv, but they did seem to have a sort of "Keto" aisle set up near the seasonal. Lots of keto compliant snacks, including some kind of bacon cheese "cracker-type" things that looked interesting but were too high fat for the regular SB program. Bacon and cheese sure sounded good, though! I think you are doing great Pattygirl! Keeping the carbs down sounds like a great way to keep on plan without stressing too much. I haven't done any formal intermittent fasting, just sometimes stretching out the times I eat, closing the kitchen at night, and trying not to eat if I am not truly hungry. I do have issues with getting headaches that are tough to get rid of when I do get hungry and don't eat, though. I don't know if successful intermittent fasters have that issue and how they deal with it, however. Things seem to be going along well for me right now, so I won't worry about trying to tweak anything yet. I just have to be okay with losing soooo slowly, lol!

Have a great rest of the day everyone!

morning! my attempts to drink zero alcohol have failed! Nothing too big, just two shots of Jim Beam. DH has agreed to give it a rest until the weekend so lets hope he comes through.

breakfast - egg white, spinach, and bell pepper bites from Costco
snack - 6 strawberries (not exactly on plan, but good for me)
Lunch - stir fry I did last night of ground turkey breast, red onions, green bell peppers over 1/2 cup refried beans
TBD on dinner but will probably be an Omaha Steaks turkey burger patty and a veggie. I need to go to the store and get broccoli and lettuce and stuff after work today.

Happy hump day!
