Happy Tuesday! I wasn't able to sleep well last night I have lots of pain in my back. I think I'm having a Fibro flare and inflammation. I feel my hands and face puffy. The scale was kind to me today and I was down 1lb. I have been drinking lots of water today and staying on plan. Hubby took his 2nd dose today and he is feeling very tired and lots of pain in his arm but doing well.

Oh, no Muffin! Sorry that you are in pain and not able to sleep. Not enough sleep makes everything so hard! But congratulations on the one pound lost! Unfortunately, I think I found it. But it's my own fault. I started off well yesterday, but then got into some emotional eating in the afternoon and didn't stop it at supper having tortellini and too big a serving of it, at that. When am I going to learn that eating does not fix emotions? Well, maybe for the few minutes you are doing the eating, but it sure doesn't last long. Today is a new day, though. I'll try again and hope that some of this bump up is the salt and not a true gain.

Anybody interested in talking about the South Beach Diet, please feel free to join us! There used to be a lot of Beacher's on this site and I, for one, could use your experience and words of wisdom if you wander back to your towel! to Syckgirlsfv, Maral427, CrystalBelle and anyone else reading! Enjoy your Wednesday and don't forget to drink that water these hot days!

Good morning another hot day here for us, so I will surely be drinking lots of water today.
I had dental work done this morning and still numb. I hope it wears off soon because I'm very hungry . I had planned to deep clean the kitchen today, but I think I will be doing it tomorrow. Today, I'm not feeling like cleaning. My back still bugging me and I don't want the pain to get worse. I started a new crochet project last night. If I work on it every evening I should finish it in a month, will see.

I'm not sure what I will be having for lunch yet, maybe some soup. For dinner, I have planned a salad with ground turkey and some broccoli.

MJMS- We never learn, I'm also an emotional eater I hope today is a better day for you. Do you own any SBD recipe books that you recommend? I normally search the internet for recipes, but I was thinking on buying a few books to had on hand.

Today it was my turn at the dentist. I was in for a cleaning and it was going well until the dentist said that I really need two crowns to replace some old, old fillings. Ugh. I am not good with dental stuff. Not to mention the price tag. But you have to do what you have to do and I know that the dentist was right. If I wait, I could have much bigger problems to contend with down the road if those big, old fillings give way. Bummed, bummed, bummed but I'll survive. I think, lol!

Diet-wise the news isn't much better. I am still struggling to get back on track. But I can and I will. I reviewed my harvest order this morning and I have some nice veggies coming on Saturday. That will help, too.

Muffin, I do have a couple of SB recipe books but I never really seemed to cook anything out of them. Have you checked the SB recipes here on 3 Fat Chicks? There are some nice ones that people who have tried them have used.
South Beach Recipes - 3 Fat Chicks on a Diet Weight Loss Community

Hope that everyone has a nice Thursday. The weekend is almost here again!

What a rainy Friday! We had some serious rain and a cold front come through yesterday afternoon and then it pretty much rained all night and will continue all day today. But tomorrow and most of Sunday are looking good, so the weekend will be a nice one. That's good for everyone with plans during this graduation season and with time off.

Still struggling here to get back 100% on plan but I am inching closer. The scale moved down slightly this morning, but not back to my low weigh-in yet. I've got to keep trying. Healthy eating is important for many reasons besides what the scale says!

I hope that you are having a good day, Muffin, with less back pain. I was thinking too, that if you are looking for recipes, Kalyn's Kitchen online has some good ones, also. She has moved her focus to be more keto oriented, but she still has lots of recipes marked for SB phases and even with her newer ones, she offers SB suggestions.

Here's to a great Friday, everyone! Grab your SB approved beverage and chat for a bit, if you can!

Hi, my name is Trish and I am starting SBD Supercharged today. I did the original SBD years ago and also started the SBD SC when it came out but don't remember why I didn't continue. That was all years ago and I've lost weight very slowly doing other plans over the years and even lost a few lbs on WW last year but I've found that I just can't do a strict FF diet because those foods are so high in sodium. And that is what has brought me back to SBD. I have tried keto and don't do well with it either as it is too strict carb so while I would love to try the SBD keto plan, I no better than to even think about it.

My original plan was to start this tomorrow because I am going out to eat at Cheddar's with my sisters and our husbands, but I went online and found that I can actually start SBD today and stay OP. So I am starting Phase 1 today. I just wanted to check in and introduce myself and say I'd love to be a part of this group and share and learn from each other here.

I am on the 3fc diabetic thread and have been for years. I was really glad to see that this thread is still going.

Muffin I hope you are feeling better today.

MJMS I hope you are staying dry with all that rain up there. I just saw on the weather that they are having a lot of rain and flooding up there.

I look forward to getting to know y'all. Have a great day.

Pattygirl63! I'm following the SB Supercharged, too. I did read the SB Keto book, but I felt like it wasn't for me. I am wary of being that restricted in my food choices. I don't think that I would do well with it for the long haul and the higher fat servings might be an issue for me. Although Phase 1 of SB is fairly restricted too, it only lasts 2 weeks and you can skip it and go to Phase 2 if you are not having cravings. Right now, I am mostly in Phase 2 but I am having some difficulty right now getting strict with myself again. But I will. When I am doing well, I usually have a grain carb and a fruit a day, but will add another fruit or a carby vegetable like a sweet potato sometimes. Like you, I have to watch the sodium, too. I feel it in my fingers and on the scale when I have too much, that's for sure!

I'm glad that you have joined us! I am always looking for a few friends to chat about South Beach. Have a fun dinner at Cheddar's!

hi everyone!

sorry I've been so busy lately - haven't been able to really check in much but I did drink WAY too much camping LOL however today I am back to my weight of 164.4. It has been 5 days (I was still drinking on Sunday omg) and I'm doing maybe like a SBD phase 1.5 I'd say. But it's seeming to be okay as long as I don't get out of control for too long! I'll do a step workout here in a minute - I've been so busy at work this last week as it's renewal time for the membership at the synagogue where I work, plus the fiscal year is ending on the 30th and we have to close the year.

today's menu so far: breakfast - egg whites, deli ham, shredded cheddar, spinach
lunch - chickpea pasta mac n cheese w/chicken breast (so good )

hope you are all doing well! I will be playing a new video game tonight on PS4...played 2 full games already on the new xbox and it's the most amazing console yet! the graphics are out of this world! I'll try to post later but if not I will in the morning

MJMS Thanks for the welcome. I have tried keto so many times because I would love to have the benefits. My baby sister does keto and looks great. She doesn't have an oz of fat on her body. There are 3 of us and she has never really had a weight problem like my other sister and I have. I think my problem is that there are just too many higher carb foods that I like plus I just don't like eating all that fat. I am 77 almost 78 yrs old and when I was first diagnosed with diabetes, they had just decided that fat was the culprit. It was so new that when I asked my doctor how much fat you could cut out, he said they didn't know yet. So I went extremely low more FF and within a week, I had my blood sugar back to normal just with lowfat diet and exercise. So I have never been able to tolerate a lot of fat. I just don't like it. SBD is better modified low fat.

Eating out with my sisters and bils was fun. I wasn't 100% SBD because DH and I halved a honey buttered croussant roll. For a while I am counting calories on MFP since that is what I've been doing up to this point. Baby sister does keto so we both had the sirloin steak with cole slaw and I had carrots. It helps that SBD is enough similar to low carb that she and I can encourage each other with out diets. I wish our other sister was more interested in losing. So I will be working to do a better job of a clean Phase 1 plan tomorrow. I had planned to do at least a week of Phase 1 and then decide whether to do another week or move toward Phase 2. What is Phase 1.5? I've seen it mentioned here a few times but can't seem to find it explained any where. TIA for explaining.

Happy Saturday everyone!
Good to see you back, Syckgirlsfv! You are doing great getting right back to it after your camping weekend, even with work being so crazy. Busy times are when I struggle the most to stay on track sometimes. I get tired and don't want to cook, plan or shop and then I fall into getting take out or snacking. I am impressed! I hope the PS4 was as much fun as you hoped that it would be.

PattyGirl, it is awesome that you got your blood sugar numbers under control with all your hard work! I think that my siblings often wish I could get my weight better under control, too, like you do about your sister. But we all know that we have to be in the right frame of mind to do it and for some people like me, we have to do it over and over again. I can gain so easily and as I mentioned to Syckgirlsfv above, I can so easily get off track in spite of better intentions. Every day is a new day, though! Right?

As far as Phase 1.5, I think people mean a more modified Phase 2. You know how in the book Dr. A. says you can have, I think, 2-3 grains and 2-3 fruits a day when you are fully in Phase 2? Well, 1.5 is maybe just 1 fruit and/or 1 grain a day. Not a strict Phase 1 but not a full Phase 2 yet. I don't think it is mentioned in the books at all, just something that SB dieters on here have always talked about.

Muffin, I hope you are doing well and are having a great weekend!

As for me, I am plugging along. The scale is inching back down but I am still not where I was. I will get there, though. Down slowly is way better than up! Have a wonderful Saturday!

Hi, I hope you all are having a great Saturday!

My back and knee pain is much better. As far as diet, I'm still struggling to get back on PH1 but somehow, I manage to lose another pound.

Pattygirl63 I'm also following the SBD Supercharged! I was supposed to move to PH2 but last week I fell out of track and now I'm trying to be back to PH1.

MJMS- Kalyn's Kitchen is one of my favorites to go for SBD recipes. Good luck with your dental work. I have the same problem as you, but 3 of the teeth already have hairline cracks. I got one fixed this Thursday, so far I'm doing great and not sensibility. I'm planning on getting two more fixed next month. I decided to go with the Bioclear option instead of the crown. The only downside is that my insurance doesn't cover it.

Good Morning Everyone.

Muffin Thanks for the welcome. Glad you are feeling better.

MFMS Thanks for explaining the P1.5. That is something I could do after I get through the P1. I want to use it to get my weight moving again. The main reason I couldn’t do keto is that there are some grains and fruit I really like to eat and knowing I could work it into my plan after the first phase I can work those foods into my plan. My favorite doctor I had when I lived in SC told me “Any diet will work if you can find what you can live with”. I feel like I have spent my life searching for that plan.

You are right about having to be in the right mind set. I have reversed the diabetes so many times and now I am just trying to keep it down. Right now I don’t have to take any meds which is a blessing. When I saw my doctor in February, all he could say to me was “You are doing great”. I am the oldest of us three sisters and I am trying to just be a good example to my sister. She wants to lose but she has so much and she gets discouraged. At our age and it just being the 3 of us, I don’t want anything to happen to her. She will get back on track again. She loses easier than I do but we both gain quickly.

I can’t believe after all I ate mostly OP yesterday and I weighed this morning and am down 3.6 lbs. That is awesome. So I will be doing P1 for a while.

So glad to find you guys. Have a great day.

Good Sunday Morning!
I didn't hop on the scale this morning, but I expect it to be about the same. I'll check for sure tomorrow. No point now since I am already enjoying my coffee.
Muffin, I'm glad the pain is better. Hooray! And HOORAY on another pound lost! Good for you!
Pattygirl, you are really starting off with a bang! 3.6 pounds! I am so jealous and yet inspired! You must be feeling so motivated.
Syckgirlsfv Hope that you are continuing to do well, too!

Have a great Sunday, everyone!

Good afternoon everyone.

MJMS Yes I am motivated. Yes that does help motivate me. I dropped another .2 lbs this morning to 182.2. I know it is probably water weight but I will take it. My goal is to keep going and to never weigh 200 lbs again. It has taken me too many years to get here. I go to the doctor in August and I would love to at least be in the 170s when I see him again. He was so impressed with my normal bloodwork and I would love to impress him with my weight loss as well.

Have a nice day everybody.

Good evening! I didn't do much today, it has been raining on and off. We did venture to Costco again today, it was packed but the registers were moving quickly.

Patty.girl63-awesome way to start
