Hi ladies! This morning up one pound to 165, which is not bad because typically the water gain from booze is 3 to 5 pounds. Hopefully it will be gone tomorrow, as I am going to do a step workout during lunch and ease back in to exercise. Haven’t done any since before Vegas! Today’s menu was like this:
breakfast - Greek yogurt w/mixed nuts
lunch - deli turkey w/light Jarlsberg swiss, green beans, fresh mozzarella ball
snack - keto mix from Costco (nuts, pepitas, cheese crunches) and 1/4 cup of protein puffs
dinner - 4 Omaha steaks meatballs and steamed broccoli.
that’s it. We’ll see what the scale has to say in the morning! Hopefully it doesn’t talk too much ****

Good morning,
Monday was a good day and I was able to stay on plan. Yesterday, was another story, I didn't sleep well and was feeling super tired and hungry all day. I stayed on ph1 but, I did overeat and was very lazy all day.
Today is a new day and I'm feeling better. I'm ready for the boys to finish school so I can sleep until 6 am I have some errands to run this morning and planning to go for my walk later in the evening.

Do you menu plan or food prep? I think I'm going to try to menu plan for next week. any ideas or favorite PH1 meals that I should try? When I first did SBD in 2008 I was following the book meal plan and I was very successful but I was also very active and going to the gym for 2hrs daily. I can't exercise like this anymore due to injuries and arthritis. I know to lose weight what we eat is more important than exercise, but for me, exercise was what motivated me to eat healthier. I need to find a low-intensity routine that keeps me motivated to keep going. I'm craving for more than a walk but at the same time, I'm afraid that I will hinder my recovery.

For lunch, I'm planning on having a stir-fry with baked seabass and for dinner chicken with a big salad. For my afternoon snack, maybe hummus with red pepper. I need to check 1st if I can have hummus in PH1

MJMS- how was your walk?
Syckgirlsfv- 1lb for booze is not bad, hope you are back to pre-Vegas weight in no time.

Happy Wednesday!

Good morning!
The scale is s-l-o-w-l-y inching back down to my low weight of a couple of weeks ago. But down is way better than up, that's for sure!

Syckgirlsfv, I agree that 1 pound up isn't bad at all. It's just water weight fluctuations. Good for you for getting back to your step workout! I'll have to check out that Keto mix the next time I am at Costco. Sounds like a nice treat that would fit in my plan. And I hope you don't tell me that I can't talk back to the scale if it is rude to me! "Shut up" is such an ugly phrase, but sometimes we have to let that scale know who's the boss!

Good for you, Muffin, for sticking to the plan! Sometimes you just have hungry days, especially when you are tired. I don't really menu plan, although I think that I probably should. It would keep me from staring into the fridge when I am hungry, which is never a good thing! I am not sure where your arthritis affects you, but I know some people find a recumbent bike to be less stressful. I haven't done yoga, but I hear that it can also be more kind to the joints. Swimming, too. Now that things are opening back up again, maybe it will be easier to find something new to love. My walk was nice! Thanks for asking.

Have a great Wednesday, everybody! Make it a good one!

Hello ladies! scale was okay this morning ha ha 165 on the nose. Like .4 down I guess.

Did 30 minute step workout to ease back into it lol burned 324 per Apple Watch so yay! Menu today has been okay but I may have made a mistake with these tortillas i got from Costco...they are made with almond flour, but I didn’t realize that the tapioca flour in them may be a no no? I only had one instead of the serving size of two.

Menu:
breakfast - egg whites, 3 meatballs, jarlsberg light swiss, salsa, light sour cream
lunch - can of white tuna w/mayo and relish, almond flour tortilla, green beans
dinner - instant pot chicken and green enchilada sauce over steamed broccoli

I am splitting a little bottle of On the Rocks Old Fashioned cocktail with hubby tonight. Phase 2 says two drinks a week so this is my two. Let’s see how this plays out on the scale in the morning!

Default Refresher Questions

Hi. I am new to the forum. I lost 40 pounds on SBDiet many years ago, and kept it off until COVID, and now I am back with a few questions about Phase1.
Where is the most current food-list?
Some webpages say eggs are unlimited, but one very official-looking one seems to say only 1 egg per day on P1?
Some pages say no milk at all, some say only low-fat, some say even whole milk is ok?
Diet-sodas, splenda, and stevia are no good?
Can I make pinto beans, throw out the beans and eat the soup?
Raspberry Vinagrette salad dressing?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome, Giannia!
I am no expert, but I think the reason that you are seeing so many different food lists/rules might be because the South Beach Diet has been changed quite a bit by Dr. Agatson since he wrote the original South Beach Diet and the South Beach Diet Supercharged. He has written a new book called the South Beach Diet Keto Friendly It changed the approved foods from the old way to being more keto and there is an official website that sells prepared meals and snacks. I read the new book, but it wasn't really for me, so I am following the original South Beach Diet that I had good success with in the past.

So depending upon which version of the SB you are interested in following, that would affect which foods are legal or not. In the original, eggs were not limited unless your doctor advised you to limit them. The milk servings would be fat-free or low fat. Diet sodas were allowed back then but I know there has been more research suggesting that they aren't so great for us anymore. Beans are also allowed on the original plan and encouraged, even. The raspberry vinaigrette would need to have 3 grams of sugar or less in a serving to be legal on the original plan.

The 2008 food list is here: Phase I Foods - revised May 2008 - 3 Fat Chicks on a Diet Weight Loss Community

I am not sure where to find a food list and rules for the new Keto version of South Beach, other than in the newest book or if you join the official website. Please feel free to join us here, no matter which version you are following!

The scale continues its very slow march back down for me, but it is going down, so that's good! It is supposed to be our warmest week yet in a long time here. The days are very pretty but the pollen is wicked. We are also waiting for the cicadas to make their every 17 year appearance. I am so not looking forward to that! They are harmless, but they are really ugly, supposedly emerge by the thousands, shed their shells everywhere and make a noise that is supposed to be as loud as a motorcycle. Yuck, yuck, yuck! Warning: This probably will not be my last complaint about them!

Syckgirlsfv, good job on your step workout and the scale moving down! I am not sure about the tapioca flour. I guess I would just see if they cause any cravings. It might not be that much tapioca flour in them anyway. Enjoy your happy hour with your hubby tonight!

Muffin How are things going? Day 3 can be the toughest one. I hope yours wasn't too bad!

I hope everybody has a great Thursday! Drink that water! (She says to remind herself!)

Thanks for clearing that up MJ. The original worked before, so I am going with that version, and I was looking at the official-site with the prepackaged meals that said one egg and no beans. I did see the 2008 list, but thought there might be a newer revision

I think the thing with artificial sweeteners is that they get in the way of breaking insulin-resistance in Phase1, because some research suggests that artificial-sweeteners contribute to insulin-resistance.

Hi Ladies!
TGIF! Yesterday was a good on-plan day! That's an encouraging sign for me. I need to keep stringing those kinds of days together. Weekends can be tougher, though. I'll need to be vigilant and not get lazy about planning my food and making good choices. It's always a battle, isn't it?

My scale was wonky this morning. Usually, I can get on and off 5 times and see the same weight (which is good or bad depending upon the number ) This morning, I thought that I might not have gotten on steadily and quickly enough to get a good read and I got another number the second time. For some reason I decided to try it again and it recalibrated and I got a different number. So I tried again. 5 times and I got 5 different numbers. All within about 3/4 of a pound, but still. I thought it might be the batteries, but they were fine. Weird. Lesson learned: Scales can be evil and are not to be trusted!

I hope everyone has a great day and is able to stop in and say hello and let us know how your day on the Beach is going!

happy Friday!!!

Did okay yesterday but today up a few ounces...wrong direction! 165.8...oy! My guess is I did put on more water than I thought but sweated a lot of it out during the step workout so that weight was lower yesterday morning. I will make the scale go down! Yesterday here is what I had: B - protein shake L - broccoli, chicken breast w/green enchilada sauce D - Green beans, sirloin from Costco, almond flour tortilla, light swiss slice (jarlsberg) my calories were way too low so I had some of the keto snack mix, too. No exercise as I worked in the office instead of from home.

TODAY'S plan:
B - flax pancake w/I can't believe it's not butter spray
L - salad w/kirkland canned chicken breast, feta, zesty lime vinaigrette, romaine lettuce, tortilla strip salad topping (just a small amount for crunch)
D - not sure
I will do another step workout during lunch today, probably the 30 minute one again. It's a really good one and not too long.

It's the weekend! Yay! I hope everyone has plans that make them happy. Mine will be on the quiet side, but that's okay. I did get some organizing done yesterday that I had been procrastinating over. I almost quit in the middle and said I would finish another day, but I pushed through and I am glad that I did. It wasn't physical so much as psychological. It felt good to get it done. A little more today in another area would be good, too. Reminds me of that book, I think it is called "Does This Clutter Make Me Look Fat?" I do think that there is a connection.

My Hungry Harvest delivery came this morning and I have lots of nice veggies and fruits in the house for the week. Although, I did indulge and purchase some corn on the cob. That will be my carb splurge, even though the Beach says that it is a too be avoided food. It's still probably better than sugar, I think!

Syckgirlsfv, I KNOW that you will make that scale go down! Good job on watching to make sure that you get an appropriate amount of calories for you. And good for you for keeping up with your step workout! I need to increase my exercise and knowing how well you are keeping up with it is encouraging to me.

Muffin, Nicole1288, Lisaward4, CrystalBelle and Maral427! Hope to see your posts soon and update us on how things are going. Have a great weekend, everybody!

Happy Saturday!
I keep forgetting to come back and post how I'm doing I'm sorry I will try to be more consistent.
So far I'm doing good, yesterday I had a headache all day, and this morning I wake up with the same headache. On Thursday I made bean soup and it was delicious, I had it for lunch yesterday and I might have the same thing for lunch today. The scale was down 2lbs this morning We don't have much planned for the weekend except cleaning and going to Costco. For dinner today, the husband is going to grill burgers for the boys and chicken kabobs with veggies for me.

MJMS- Weekends are also hard for me. Yes, corn on the cub is 100 better than sugar. I'm glad you push thru and finish with your organization. I keep procrastinating on packing a box that I need to send to my sister... today is the day! thanks for the motivation
Syckgirlsfv- good job with your step workout! I'm always looking for a good vinaigrette salad dressing, what brand do you buy? How was the tapioca tortilla?
Giannia- Welcome! I'm also following the original book but I don't use any artificial sweeteners. I do need to keep it very low fat and low animal protein because I don't digest those very well. When I'm not having animal protein I just make sure I eat more beans/legumes and veggies.

Yay, Muffin for 2 pounds down! Keep up the good work! Sorry about the headache. Hopefully today it goes away and doesn't come back. Mmm, bean soup is always good. You are brave heading to Costco on a Saturday. I just can't handle weekends there anymore. I went once a couple of days before Christmas in Tucson and you had to be resourceful to snag a cart. It felt like a demolition derby. Yikes! They do have such good prices and such good stuff, though. I hope your trip is pain-free!

Happy weekend!!

MJMS I get a veggie and fruit delivery, too! I love it. Mine is called Farm Fresh to You and I get a box every other week. I’m excited because I ordered Japanese sweet potatoes and they’ll be here on Monday evening. That will be my carb splurge

Muffin I just use Kraft Zesty Lime Vinaigrette. I love lime so it works for me, but they do have a nice lineup of vinaigrettes. I also have the Asian one but for now it has a gram or two too many of sugar. Wishbone does nice vinaigrettes too, as well as Newman’s Own. When I am not watching my dressing, my very favorite is Hidden Valley Cilantro Lime Ranch or Buffalo Ranch. The tortillas are good! The consistency is different, but they are tasty and I eat one instead of the serving size of 2 so it’s 10 carbs and not 20.

I need to get to the store today and get some tofu (I love it for breakfast) and redeem all the freebies I have from the Monopoly game at Pavilion. I won so many waters, yogurts, French breads, soaps, you name it LOL so whatever I can’t use I’ll give away. I’ll definitely make good use of that water in a couple weeks because we are going camping at the Calico Ghost Town in Yermo. It’s just for one night but it should be about 100 degrees there. Fun!

So, today I will probably just play the video game I’m currently playing on PS4. Definitely do a workout, either step or weights. Also need to sweep the floors (we have 3 cats, lots of hair!) and dust. That’s enough for a Saturday for me!

No food yet...just having coffee. Need to decide on breakfast, probably Canadian bacon and egg whites, cheese, something like that. Back later!

Just a quick breakfast update! I made egg muffin cups by spraying a muffin tin with avocado oil spray, using a slice of Canadian bacon, egg whites equal to one egg, shredded mozzarella, and pepper in each one and baking. Oh my they turned out so GOOD!!! So SBD phase 1 friendly!!! just wanted to share!
