Re: Exercise, Anyone Know.....

How fast should we be walking for max. weight loss? or is it distance we should be concerned about? TIA :D :strong:

I would think the biggest factor would be the time spent doing it and getting your heart rate up

When I work out, I try to keep up my heart rate for at least 30 minutes, either running or walking.

That being said, I've found the speed I walk at to best achieve a good work out is about 4.4-4.5 mph on the treadmill

But, it's probably different for everybody, i'm sure

just my two cents

Thanks Lucky13 :)

Sflake, for most folks if you walk fast enough to where talking is possible but singing is not, your heart rate is in the right "zone." I finally broke down and bought a heart rate monitor, which I love. It spurs me on to walk harder when I need to, and even to slow down when I get carried away!

30 minutes a day is a reasonable goal for most people. I know that for weight loss some experts recommend at least 60 minutes a day, most days of the week.

As long as you are moving your bod you're on the right track!

Sflake....

Are you feeling better now? Are you able to do a little exercise yet? Just wanted you to know I was thinking of you.

Thanks all! :)

Sharon~ thanks for asking it is healing nicely, (just a pulled muscle) I am gonna try a little walking, think I will go for distance not speed for a little while to make sure I don't re-injure myself. You neice is blessed to have you, many people in abusive situtations don't have anyone to turn to. I am SURE you helped her. :D

Sflake....

I'm sending you good vibes :goodvibes for your healing muscle! Getting back slowly to your walking routine is a good idea. I injured my knee in June, doing toomuch in a "Step" class, and was off of exercise for a month. I learned to pay attention to my body when it says...don't do that!:D

Thanks for the good thoughts for my niece. She is safe for the moment in a "Safe House" but it is an on-going thing. :(

Off to get my hour in.......I promised myself and Franny (my exercise Guru) to go right now!!!:cb:

I'm movin'..........~Sharon:flow2:
