Good morning chilly coffee morning. Who is ready for a cup?

The week really got away from me. Trying not to waste any of the weekend. I will be going for a ride this morning. I had to take the front wheel off my bike, but its in the Subaru which was no easy task lol. I am spoiled as my car has a tow hitch mounted bike rack. John is still using my car which is fine. Contractors start Thursday (finally). I realized I still did not have everything I needed. Two Home Depot runs after work and I think I am good. Will need to get trim, but not until the job is just about finished. I still have a couple of sections to insulate which I'll do Monday after work.

Food is still OP but the scale is stuck at goal weight which is fine. Hoping to see a small drop this week.

I'm just up but got on the computer first thing to look at pictures. I'm going to make my focus today on my mom's celebration of life next Saturday. I go back to work tomorrow and by the time I'm free again we will be halfway into the week.

Mostly on my mind today is Florida. I have many friends there but my brother's livelihood is in Key West. He is in California and staff have done the best they can do to prepare but a great disaster seems inevitable at this point. The waiting is very difficult.

I am enjoying some coffee on a dreary morning; supposedly it will clear up later but we shall see. Today will be a BJs run since we are low on coffee.:eek: After that it will be laundry and exercise.

Speaking of which, I think I mentioned I bought a Pilates machine earlier this summer. While it won't replace my walking for cardio I have decided it is good for toning/strength training, especially my core. I didn't really have any routine for core exercises and I think this is making a difference. It came with 5 workout DVDs that range from 25-60 minutes which is a nice variety. (But I will never be able to catch up to Jennifer and her bike riding!!)

Debbie, looking at photos must be bittersweet. Prayers for your brother's business.

Just finished up yoga and now sitting down to eat breakfast. It looks to be a beautiful day here, on the agenda today is fix the outer walls of the garage with DS and then there is a parade later today that DD2 is marching in and then the town festival is still going on.

Debbie my mind is on Florida as well, I have lots of relatives that live around the Miami, West Palm beach area and my BFF is there as well. I also have a ton of friends slightly north of Tampa on the West Coast that is where I went to High School and part of college. I have been praying for all of Florida and now looks like we have to add GA and SC as well.

Jekel my eating has been op the scale this week has only move half a pound, I guess I will take it

I too have Florida on my mind. My sister and brother in law were in Puerto Rico for Irma, scary to say the least. They were supposed to come home yesterday, but haven't heard if they were able to.

Pearlrose I don't remember the last time I went to a parade. Hope you had fun.

Beth years ago I bought a ballet bar very similar to the Pilates machine. That sucker made a permanent home under the bed in the spare room until I sold it on Craigslist lol. I wasn't very motivated bank then. Which one did you get?

Yesterday's ride was actually chilly!!!! I was quite happy I still had my cold weather riding gloves in my bag. I did manage 24 miles, but my darn sinuses were driving me nuts. Today I am meeting members of the NYWLE (NY Women in Law Enforcement) for a tour of a vineyard in Dutchess County. I think the ride will be indoors today or perhaps a nice walk. Hopefully that is the hardest decision I have to make today lol

I wish DS would let me know if I should book my next trip to VA. I think I am going to fly. It really isn't much more money than driving. Did I mention I paid over $70 dollars in tolls when I drove. I would get the cheapest rental this time. I can fly into Richmond (more money) or Ronald Regan and drive 2 hours. From what I understand he may not even be able to spend time with me after the graduation so this will literally be a two day trip. He might be holding over at Ft Lee for a couple of weeks before going to his next training. Once he goes into Airborne training he will be inaccessible again for 3 weeks. I got spoiled hearing from him.

Good morning, chicks. I've been watching the news and thinking of those of you with loved ones in Florida. Prayers for their safety.

Jennifer, we are chilly this morning; DH and I were debating whether there was actually a light frost. I shall go out and check the tomatoes in a bit; I know they could be gone anytime since we are 1/3 of the way into September. Enjoy the tour today. BTW I got the Life's a Beach pilates chair (see it on Amazon). Ask me in a year if I am still using it! lol

Dashing through. I think I am going to just rent a squishy coffin at the local funeral parlour. Lots of "departures" lately but we are still managing to work in fun. Been up for hours watching the hurricane on tv. I will need to force myself to do something else today otherwise it will be a long day. The parade was great and we had great weather for the festival, DH and I did not stay long. Found DD2 a dress for homecoming and it fit the budget I was willing to spend for a dress you will only wear once. (pet peeve of mine...) Happy dance there.

I managed to get my steps in yesterday but fell for stress eating yesterday so today is back on track for me.

Jekel sounds like a fun day planned for today, hope you hear from your DS soon

I have not heard any official word from my brother but it does seem from the news that Key West was not hit as badly as it could have been. I know other Keys did not fare as well. I think that there could still be storm surge coming which is what did all the damage at his property.

Me, busy with arrangements and Kirk flies in Tuesday eve at 11pm.

Pearlrose and Debbie, glad to hear your loved ones are safe. I know there will be repairs and damage to stuff, but "alive and well" is the most important thing.

This is going to be a busy week at school with a meeting tomorrow and Open House on Thursday. My science clubs will be starting up soon, as well.

Scale ticked down today (yay!) so I'm feeling good about that. Seems like the weight is coming off verrrrryyyyyy slowly this time.

Good morning, chicks. Not sure what I did differently but I am ready for work with a few minutes to spare. Not complaining about it, just trying to figure out how to do it again tomorrow! I hate those days when I am rushing out in a panic.

Regular day at work, with a meeting afterwards. We seem to be having a week of summer weather which is nice. I might try to take a walk outside this afternoon.

Starting wfh and then going to one of the hospitals for a meeting later this morning. Looks like it is going to be another lovely day we are supposed to get some scattered storms from what is left of the hurricane. Went for a long walk yesterday evening that was nice.

Beth my scale is starting to go back down after off plan eating this weekend. I know what you mean about figuring out the morning routine, if you can shave off a few minutes that is a win.

Good morning!

I have been out already. Down to the grocery store and stop at the restaurant where I had the boss order me some cookie dough. Figured right now I didn't need the additional mess of making 8 dozen cookies from scratch. They are macadamia nut white chocolate should be good.

The schedule came out yesterday afternoon and I am off today and work tomorrow. The boss was thinking Kirk was coming in last night late but one we had to change his flight he comes in tonight. That's fine. I decided it was a blessing that I have one day to really focus on some things by myself before Kirk comes in and we get back to life down here. I'm sure he's going to be tired and totally overwhelmed at reentering society after living on an island all summer. Not to mention that I have so much to do before Saturday.

I am headed in to make a giant lasagna for our family Friday night dinner. I think I am going to use the recipe that doesn't pre-cook the noodles. It will be simpler. I hope it turns out.

Beth, I always think it's funny when you were the last one here on the previous day and first one in on the current. LOL. I'm always looking for ways to shave off a couple of minutes in my morning. It really helps.

Rose, nice to get your walk in. It's a beautiful day here, too! Cool and very still. I'm going to try to start getting some outdoor walks in after this crazy week ends. I actually have nice sidewalks now.

Debbie what a great idea getting the cookie dough from work. I don't think all the dough would become cookies if it was in my house (that's my hormones talking lol) Glad Kirk will be home soon.

Pearlrose I too set a budget for wear once clothing. I wish I had a friend I could swap clothes with.

Beth did you get frost? I know I've been driving to work with the heat on this week.

Ruth glad you and Bruce are enjoying an active social life.

Finally heard from DS :) he passed his PT test so he is all set for graduation. Booked my trip. Begrudgingly flying from JFK. Super crazy busy airport lol. I'll land in DC and drive the rest. One mom saves dollar billls and uses them for trips to see her son. I think I am going to start doing the same thing.

Very excited the bathroom starts Thursday. Finally decided on paint tonight. I'll post pictures when its done. I decided to have the kitchen done this winter. I will need to win a lottery to afford it lol. It will be a big undertaking but I think I will be happy when its done. The kitchen needs everything so it will be another complete gut job.

It was a warmy muggy 62 outside this morning so did my walk outside this morning. Starting from home but going in to work for our work picnic, I will only eat was is op food only as the scale is finally moving down again after getting rid of extra lbs from this weekend. Tonight DH and I are going to Stevie Nicks concert. There is a rumor that the verdict on the policeman trail might come out today I am hoping not because they are expecting riots and that might change my plans.

Debbie hope Kirk got in okay last night and you were able to get some rest before going to work.

Jekel yeah for DS passing his PT test, that sounds like a good idea of putting away a certain amount for a trip that will help. I can't wait to see finished pictures of your bathroom you are going to make me want to do as well.

Happy Peak of the Week, chicks!

Amazing how non-stop busy my days are now that school is back in full swing! When I come home I try to exercise, make dinner and clean up which doesn't leave much time for anything else.

Jennifer, congrats to DS!! We had a very light touch of frost this weekend but the tomato plants are ok. We are having a week of summery weather; 80* and sunny.

Pearlrose, I hope you were able to go to the concert.

Another busy work day with Open House tonight. Funny how it seems fewer parents come every year; what does that say about our culture? I have a few ideas but I'm not really sure which is correct.

Small blip up on the scale today; I credit it with the dessert I didn't turn down last night. But since I am one of those people who weighs everyday I am used to it and know it will go back down with water and OP food.

Debbie, thinking of you as you continue to deal with the estate questions.

Good morning....Beth I weigh in daily too. I have a blip to deal with this week. It's me and the darn hormones lol. I can set my scale by it. Three solid days per month I struggle with binging / mindless eating. All will power goes out the window lol. Got my grippers on, as my mom says, and am refocused until next month lol. Is it wrong that I am wishing menopause would just get here already???? Have a great day at work. Yes I noticed the decline in parent attendance too over the years.

Pearlrose how was the concert? Hopefully no issues if the verdict was released. Having worked too many protests to count I can tell you they are unnerving to put it mildly.

Today starts the bathroom. LOL I was up and dressed by 6:30 just in case they get here early. While they work today I willl cut back the sunflowers and other sad looking plants. It will be nice to get my garage back too as that is where I stored all the new goodies. Speaking of goodies I applied for a HELOC and received my conditional approval!!! I went through my bank even though their rates are slightly higher. So seemless so far. The loan will be used to finally do my kitchen. I have an estimate scheduled for October 14th. Joe's friend Mike is supposed to come and give me an estimate. He obviously would take longer than say Home Depot, but I can trust him to be here when I am not home. Truthfullly I do not want to use my vacation time as I want to keep extra time to see DS when his schedule permits. The downside to using Mike is he lives 2 hours from me. I have extra room so if need be he could stay here.

I better get the recyle bin out to the curb. Have a great day!!!!

We went to the concert last night it was great! Text'd my bff she is still without power but luckily her mom's house has power. Looks verdict might come out on Friday, my DS works for District Attorney's office so his office would close when they announce. I am wfh today and tomorrow.

Beth my scale had a blip as well, it was due to too many good carbs yesterday so back to drinking lots of water and phase 1.5 :) Our open houses still are packed out but we are a small town so that might be why

Jekel how exciting to get approval to get your kitchen done. Hope the estimate is a good one. Can I say that I am right there with you, I am ready to just get menopause over with already.

Good morning!

I'm sitting out side with my coffee looking at the beautiful stars. It's been some crazy busy days but I got rest last night. Kirk has been getting some rest, as well. He was already tired and needs to adjust to the altitude.

Yesterday my sister and I met with the lady and checked out our venue. It's the upstairs meeting hall at the Elks club. The place was very dirty so we are going to go clean this morning. They don't charge a fee for events they just ask a donation. I am thinking that we are going to scrub like crazy and let them know that is our donation. We went to Denver and got a lot of errands done. I was tired when I got home but decided to bake off the rest of the cookies. I could set the timer and go up and watch the news in between. I did take Kirby to the vet early in the morning. He's on a different anabiotic. This time targeting a urinary tract infection. It was also $178 to have his urine cultured. The vet said that might give them a better idea of how to treat him.

So, Kirk is still sleeping. I'm going to do some picking up and just enjoy some quiet time while it lasts. I'm looking forward to life getting back to a little more like normal.

Food has been pretty good until yesterday. I ate a few too many cookies. LOL.

Debbie you deserve the cookies!!! I am sure you will make the hall spotless. Glad you got some much needed rest last night.

The hot flashes have begun lol. Had one during a meeting this week. One on a normal work day too and one while driving with Joe lol. They are just so much fun lol.

Day 1 of the bathroom was a little confusing....no one showed up...The owner called me (after I left a message with the office) Apparently there was a scheduling error. He pulled them from the job they were on (only 15 minutes away) so they didn't get started until noon. Moving the plumbing was quite tasking but I knew it would be. My home is one big (although not a big house) quirky mess lol. Some of the Sheetrock is up. Today they will replace the baseboard heating finish the Sheetrock and get the floor installed. Mind you there is a pretty big hole in my floor since the half bath is over a crawl space. The two gentleman working here are very quiet and clean. The even used the leaf blower to clean the driveway befor they left. Since Coconut gets underfoot easily he got to spend the day on the couch. I kept him company binge watching Grey's Anatomy. Looks like more of that will take place today.

Food was OP yesterday. Goal is to stay OP since I don't feel comfortable working out while they are here.

It was a lovely day for a walk this morning, we are going to get hot today and the rest of the weekend back in the 90s yikes (won't complain I have the ability to use a/c). Today is wfh, the verdict is coming out today, so we have a conference call scheduled to change up our maintenance window so the hospitals that might be affected have no application down. DS is off from work today, praying for only peaceful protestors.

Debbie no way could I have baked cookies and not ate some of them :). I know you all will make that place sparkle for them. Glad Kirk arrived safely and is getting adjusted back.

Jekel I haven't had any hot flashes but that might be because I am on the pill and my doc said I should not get any staying on them. However I do wake up sometimes soaking wet from sweat and I think those are hot flashes lol. My house is so old it always turns into a big ordeal when we get something done hence why I keep putting off getting our bathroom redone.

LOL Beth I get those too!!! It seems like my normal body temp is all over the map lately. I keep hoping it is a sign TOM will stop soon. TOM gets confused and keeps visiting even after leaving. Talk about an unwanted guest lol.

Just got back from Home Depot. Picked out my trim. Thankfully one of the guys working came with their van. No way 16' pieces of trim were fitting in the little Subaru. Coconut is camped out on the couch. I tormented him this morning shaving, nails, bath and teeth lol.

Even though I am off I have a conference call at 2. It is in response to the transit bombing in the UK. Did I ever mention I am looking forward to retirement LOL
