Wow for the Weekend! June 4th and 5th

  • Coffee's ready! I made lots so will pour you a cup. The dogs have been fed and cuddled a bit and are now loafing on the back deck.

I just love June when I can look down on my garden from the bedroom window and see something new nearly every day. Yesterday's delight was a large white iris and today there is a gorgeous salmon-coloured oriental poppy.

In an hour or so, I'm off to pick up bread for sale at the Mill, something I always enjoy on these gorgeous mornings. Margo and her three huge dogs are always glad to see me and sometimes we even take time to sit on her big farm porch for a coffee and chat. She and Russ are very tight for cash (all farmers are!) but all three of their kids are off at university on scholarships.

Time to figure out what to wear - I'm way behind on laundry It's grinding day at the Mill so I'll have to fake a period costume somehow - a long denim skirt, white blouse and apron may have to be "it".

OK - get with it, Ruthie. Better water the flower boxes before the day gets hot as predicted.

    Enjoy the weekend.
  • Good morning Ruth and chicks to come. Thanks for starting us off. My peonies were beautiful and actually got to enjoy them. Seems rain likes to smooth them. Today they will get smooshed lol. Ruth I bet your car will smell delicious!!! I don't know if I could resist.

I took off today for the AC installers. They are not scheduled to be here until at least 2. So glad I am up early to wait for them lol. I'll hop on the bike inside today and get a few little things done here. I have to remind myself not to skip dinner! It leads to unnecessary eating until bed. Won't make that mistake again.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend planned.
  • Good morning,

We didn't go anywhere yesterday evening, so I cleaned the whole house all that is left is a light dusting. Was supposed to go pick up a new sofa today but it is raining so may have to postpone that. I am going to try and tackle the weeds tomorrow.

Ruth nothing I love better than the smell of fresh bread

Jekel hope the installation goes smoothly for you.

    Have a great day everyone!
  • Morning chicks. Spending the day with mom. We will plant her flower garden, fill some prescriptions and generally putter. The weather looks like it will cooperate .

Ruth, fresh bread is hard to resist! I give you credit for doing so.

Jennifer, enjoy your day and the AC!

    Pearlrose, enjoy the day.

    Happy weekend chicks!
  • Good Morning. Sounds like everyone has lots planned today. National Donut Day got the better of me yesterday So I'll be doing a couple more days of Phase 1 just to make suer I didn't do too much damage. We are sanding the shelves and cabinets on the last wall of the library today and then we can start building the window seat. I'll be so glad when we finally finish this project. Other than that, this weekend is all about meal prep and trying to stay cool. More 100 degree days ahead. Have a good weekend everyone.
  • Good morning!

Just enough time to say hello, drink my smoothie and grab some supplies. I'm headed to the rental project. Last day. I got my entire square covered with weed cloth and bark. It looks really nice. Been working like crazy this morning because I wanted to finish that before I leave. Tomorrow back to the real job.

    Have a great day everyone!
  • Good morning seems like everyone is tackling projects off their to do lists. I managed to pull a few weekends yesterday before the AC guys showed up. It took them 20 minutes to remove and install the new one. So incredibly quiet compared to my old one. After they left I did manage an outdoor ride before the rain. I need to keep my miles up as I have a century ride in August. Pamela and I are doing the Long Island Bike Challenge. Proceeds go to a local hospital's cancer care program. Pamela's dad ride every year so she likes to continue riding in his memory. I'll be going to Joe's later for an early dinner. Tomorrow we have our golf outing for work. It's a long day so I probably won't get here tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great day!
  • Good morning,

The cat woke me up this morning, so I have already walked 2 miles, started laundry and made breakfast this morning.

Sounds like everyone has projects they are working on this weekend hope you get everything accomplished.
  • Good morning from rainy Delta, a farmers' rain, not pelting but gentle. The fields sure need it so I hope we get a lot. The weekly predictions shows another three rainy days coming this week. That should relieve the drought situation a bit. Several years ago, Western Canada had the same dry weather and the eastern farmers started Hay West and shipped bales of it out there. I'm sure they will do the same for us if worse comes to worst.

Tomorrow is Quilting Biddies pot luck lunch and I need to make Food Porn Rum Cake this morning. I got everything organized and realized I am out of cooking oil. Olive oil won't cut it so that project is on hold until I get to the store. It seems all my casual pants are just finishing up in the dryer. (The weekends are washing days in the Village as our electricity rates are much lower!)

Broke training last night and had a burger and fries from the food truck at the corner. Sigh! I didn't even finish it - pitched half the fries and gave the dogs half the burger. I won't be doing that again for a while since I did not sleep well after my transgression. "Bless me, Sisters, for I have sinned!"

    On with the day.
  • Wrapping up my weekend with mom. That means some car time this afternoon to go back home.

Sounds like everyone is busy today. Hope it is a good day for all!
