Yahoo! The Weekend! Sept. 26th & 27th

  • Good Saturday morning. The sun is a-shining to welcome the day! I managed to get back to sleep after my small hours potty break and slept until 7:35 instead of my usual 4 to 5. It's nice to wake up in daylight for a change.

The Festival of Small Halls went off without a hitch last night - sold out at $25 a ticket. Dinner beforehand was only $10 and quite nice - huge veggies platters, rolls and crock-pot things like paella, pulled pork and pasta dishes - none of it made by me! I left almost as soon as the show started though as I suddenly developed a throbbing headache. That's not like me at all! I've been pretty stressed lately and I think it was the beginning of a migraine. I have had one only once in my life and that was way back in 1997 when I was being stalked by a work employee. (He was fired for other reasons.) Up until then, I didn't believe migraines were real! So it was early bed after some Sleepy Time Tea and all is well this morning.

Another glorious day ahead. I do have to go to the Mill to get some flour for a customer - there's a bread baking contest at the Fall Festival next Saturday. Then I plan to spend a quiet day with the doggage and make some headway on the backlog of accounting crud on the desk. We are supposed to be sunny and in the low 70's daytimes for the next week.

On we go with a lovely autumn day. The trees in my woods have not turned but my Autumn Crocus are in full bloom as is the magenta aster.

    Whatever you do, enjoy!
  • Good morning!

Ruth, I'm sure glad your headache went away on it's own! And I hope all that stress is lifted from your shoulders very soon. Have a good day!

It will be a bit challenging getting around today with so many roads closed, but I want to go to the Mall to look for an outfit for our Red Hat event next Sunday. It has to be purple, and it has to be dressy-casual, so wish me luck!
  • Ruth - accounting stuff? Weren't you handing that over? Or is that later...

It is a beautiful day out! DH is off with a friend for kayaking for the morning, and then we'll avoid town with another home game. I'll get the whip out to get the kids to do their chores (just a saying chicks, I don't really ).

The cats are all staring at me, must be time for breakfast...
  • Good morning Cottage! I can't imagine what town is like for you today. Glad it's over for Jennifer though!
  • I'm working today and tomorrow. Glad to have some day shifts. Tonight we are going out to dinner with friends. DH spent last night at his mom's because his brother, who usually splits the night shifts with a sister, was in a car accident and broke his hand. Not sure what that will mean for him helping out now.

    Have a great weekend.
  • Hey chicks!

We have sun and blue skies this morning as well. DH and I have been on our walk and made a quick stop at the hardware store in an unsuccessful attempt to find a specific handle for some paint pads. Am now planning on some "me" time this afternoon.

    Enjoy your Saturday, chicks.
  • Good morning, (just under the wire)

We are at the airport waiting for our plane ride home. Should be home by 5 p.m. my time. It was a nice week but I seem to have catched a cold. I will take some medicine prior to boarding the plane.

I have been reading posts this week but didn't have a chance to post. Was able to keep my eating op all week so we shall see what the scale says tomorrow morning for weigh in.

    Hope everyone is doing well.
  • Hope you are home safely and on time, Rose.

Another summerish day is going to happen and then two days of much-needed rain. As soon as it's bright outside, I am going to get the schoolwork out of the Fair Hall and into my car. I have the prize money and envelopes and plan to get the works delivered to the schools - on a non-rainy day this week. Lots to do this coming week including straightening out an accounting mess and Fall Festival prep.

Oh well - being busy keeps me off the streets and out of the pool halls!

Anybody going to watch the Super Moon tonight? We are considering a minor Meadow Party - minor because tomorrow is a school and work day.

Whatever you do, make it worth it!
  • Good morning Off to see the babe and family today. They are selling their condo and moving into a rental while they figure out where they want to buy a house with a yard. It's a much bigger, and more expensive, decision in the Boston area. We get to play with the little guy while his Mom and Dad move big things. I've been looking forward to this all month As soon as we get home we will get a fire going and wait for the moon. We just won't think about that 5:30 alarm.
  • Thank you Tammy I am glad everything smoothly. Finally off today. Booked a mini massage, mani and pedi for Tuesday at the hotel where the conference is. I had all access credentials for the Papal visit to NY. It was an amazing experience being at the mass, even if only for a short time, at MSG. Hope to catch up on the posts tomorrow. Now I am off to meet friends by Joe for a bike ride.

Ruth I'm hoping to see the moon tonight.
  • And a belated to you yesterday, Jennifer! Did you do anything exciting?!

Ruth - I just pictured you in a pool hall. With your daisy dukes on! Catchin' all dem boys...

Cyndi - can I join you for the bonfire?

Rose - hope you made it home safe, sound, and sane!

Today is same ole same ole. We have church this morning - it's weird because their service is at 11:15, so we often don't get home until 1 pm. But *someone* doesn't like getting up for the 8:30, so we'll continue this way. I've been really fatigued the past couple of days, so I won't do a whole lot otherwise. I do need to plan out the menu, but I try to go grocery shopping on Mondays now that I'm not working.

Enjoy the day! It looks like it will be rainy here...
  • Good morning, chicks. We have clear skies today so I will be sure to watch the eclipse tonight! First, I may do a bit of laundry and paperwork today.

Rose, hope you made it home smoothly.
Jennifer, belated birthday wishes! Enjoy your day off.
Cyndi, sounds like you have the better end of the deal today.
Tammy, groceries are on my list today but I also need to plan before I go.
Ruth, enjoy the bonfire and may you finish the car-loading chore without incident.

Need to get moving. Have a great day, chicks!
  • Good morning,

Made it home safe and sound, unpacked last night and now I am have been in cleaning mode, already vacuumed entire house, mopped kitchen floor and have laundry going. Next up is dusting and bathroom and then I need to go grocery shopping for the week.

Jennifer Happy belated Birthday glad you enjoyed the experience this past week

Ruth I am going to try and watch some of it tonight

Cyndi enjoy spending time with the babe

Tywnn we have falling out of the habit of going to church every Sunday since they moved the location of our service to an area of the base that is much further to get to. Wish they would move it back to the main chapel we enjoyed going there.

    Beth enjoy your day

    to all the other chickies

    Have a great Sunday
  • We ran out for a few errands first thing this morning, before traffic got too crazy. It wasn't too bad yesterday, and I found a really nice outfit for next Sunday's event. Actually, Jake found it, and for once I actually liked what he picked out.

Jennifer, I'm glad all went smoothly for you in NYC while the Pope was there, and awesome for you catching a glimpse of him! I decided to not even attempt to venture into center city this weekend and am really looking forward to watching his Mass broadcasted live this afternoon, from our church.

We're looking forward to watching the eclipse tonight, too!
