Thursday SBD Chatter, 12/11

  • Darn! I started a nice long post, and it disappeared on me!
  • Wintery, Snowy Thursday, December 11
Good morning. We have lots of snow and it's still coming down. It's time for me to get back in my groove and start to worry about Christmas.

The dogs are a riot! Joey seems happy to be here and is actually joyous when he can run in the yard making snow poofs that completely obliterate wee Millie. He just adores Millie and she is definitely the pack leader. He even allows her to take his favourite bone which is so big she has to drag it. He's 45 pounds and she is nine! Jazz was a bit worried about this big dog at first but the "boys" had a playtime this morning.

Not sure what today will bring except laundry and getting out a few Christmas cards and notes. Shopping is slowly coming together but the only decorating I've done is to hang the wreath on the side door. The porch lights may go up today - I really should put them up when I de-decorate after Halloween. Duh!

I hope your Thursday holds some Joy and laughter as we gear up for the holidays!
  • Good morning, ladies.

Just popping in real quick before I leave work for the day. It's my Day 4 which means I'm off for 2 days. I'll be spending it wrapping up my Christmas shopping, addressing Christmas cards, and then mailing off my cards and packages to people back home. I'll also be cleaning my bedroom as it's in shambles right now from mom's visit. Laundry is on the list as well, but I don't want to dwell on the boring stuff, LOL

Hope everybody has a great day. I'll be grabbing a Starbucks on the way home to give me the energy to stay up and get everything done!
  • Oh my gosh. I *so* regret going back and looking at yesterday's thread. My brain must not have been working when I typed that I was glad to "here" that Tammy's surgery went well. *smh* Geez Louise.
  • Good morning, Ruthie! I'm glad the pups are all getting on well. I'm sure they keep you entertained!

It's a snowy morning here as well, but the schools are open so the roads must be fine. I was supposed to go to the girls' Winter Concert at school last night, but it was snowing steadily and I was worried that it would freeze and the roads would be slippery by the time the concert was over. It's a 40 minute drive from my house to school anyway. I probably should have planned to stay overnight at the farm and go with them.

I'm finally all recuperated from my fantastic weekend in Cape May, just in time to enjoy another weekend. Today is my Friday! Woohoo! I think we'll be sealed out of the kitchen again today, but we're managing. We'll probably "picnic" in the barn for lunch. At least it's warm in there!

    Have a super day, Chicklets!
  • Glad the barn is warm Linda. When should the kitchen be completed?

Ruth sounds like the pups are enjoying their visitor

Natasha would love to see you on the 23rd, but unfortunately I am working Think of me Saturday night. I am working an overnight shift as a favor. He has a wedding so he will pick up my Sunday day tour. It has been over two years since I worked one. lol this should be interesting

Yesterday I spend with Rebecca. I am really going to try and take her to her chemo appointments. Despite the circumstances we made the best of it. Her wife took FML but returns to work next month. They have a two year old son. Rebecca is retired so she stays home with the baby. They need to find a mommy's helper.

Today I have a dr appointment. Then groceries and a trip to UPS to pick up my wine basket Whoo hoo! No wine today as I am on standby to pick up my friend Ed's kids from daycare. He is having hernia surgery. His wife is nervous they might not be back in time to get the kids.

I better get a move on since I need to tend to the snow before my appointment.

    Enjoy!
  • Good morning,

It is another gray and cold day but no snow in our area. Today is wfh and I have laundry going. Tonight is DD2 winter concert, we went through her dresses last evening and she had outgrown almost all of them. Yikes

Ruth sounds like the doggies are all enjoying each others company

Natasha enjoy your next two days off

Cottage that was probably best to stay off the roads last night

Jekel that is nice of you helping out Rebecca.

I have to run have 8 a.m. call in a few minutes

    Have a great day everyone!
  • Good morning.

Tammy - Glad to hear things went well and hope your recovery is speedy.

Holiday shopping is SOOO close to being done. Would like to get it finished and wrapped so I can stop thinking about it. My mind is also consumed with thoughts of foods: what desserts to bring to a party on Sunday, what to have in the house for guests next week...

Has anyone heard of Pickwick candles? I guess they are all the rage around here. Maybe Santa will bring me one.

Might finally hang ornaments today. The tree has been up since just after Thanksgiving. It occurs to me that with DH's dog and a visiting toddler, we might only put ornaments up high!

    Have a great day.
  • Hey everyone: a quick check in. Started my Xmas shopping as I realized we are celebrating Christmas with my parents this weekend and I hadn't bought them any gifts yet! It's ok - they are pretty easy: sweaters, crossword puzzle books, practical things like umbrellas, etc. I'll get it done. Could it be I'm reluctant about the visit??

A fast day today...wish me luck. I'm hungry already. Hope everyone has a great one!
  • Good morning!

A quick hello because we're heading to the pool soon. I took up my morning time going over to Walmart to get the little Christmas presents for tonight's party and also pick up a crochet hook so I can finish this shawl I am making.

No snow here it's sunny but cold fortunately it will warm up later. Have a great day everyone!
  • Hello Wow, didn't realize I hadn't been in at all in a few days. Work reared its ugly head again and nipped my vacation plans in the bud. We get to carry the days, like that makes anyone feel better right now. Then there was snow and ice and mess. I'm glad it's not too cold but wish it would make up its mind!

Glad to see Tammy checking in. Hope the healing is progressing well.

Okay, back to work for another half hour then I am getting some exercise. That's always the first thing to go when I get busy.

Oh, need advice from all you cooking Beachers. It looks like I will actually outlive my mandolin in spite of its many attempts to kill me. I'm looking for recommendations for a new one. Main uses are slicing for the dehydrator and cutting various veggies into fries. thanks!
  • Long day today. We received about 12" of snow and DH and I got up before work to check the condition of the driveway; do I need to say I shoveled some snow for my early morning workout?

Hope everyone had a good day; I'm sitting down with a glass of wine.
