Thursday Beachin' SBD Chat, 12/4

  • Wakey, wakey! Coffee's on! Come and get it while it's hot!

I had no trouble getting up this morning, I wonder why? I have the first load of laundry going, and am halfway packed. Can you tell I'm excited?

Ruth called last night to say she was still at the Ottawa airport, waiting on her flight, which was delayed. I haven't heard from her since, so I'm pretty sure she made it to Philly. My SILs are picking me up at noon, and we'll swing by her hotel to pick her up on our way.

We'll try to check in over the weekend, but I know you'll all be on your best behavior.

Bea, congratulations on your fabulous Phase 1 weight loss! That's fantastic, and keep up the good work!
  • Good morning!

I've been up but have been with our patient, Kirby. For those not on FB he had 18 teeth taken out yesterday. I'm so glad we went and got this lil guy! He is so sweet and was pretty sick with dental disease. His blood work was great and heart worm neg. so I think we are on the road to recovery.

I took the collar off this morning so I will stay home and watch him like a hawk this morning and go to the pool later when Kirk can stay with him.

Ruth and Linda have a great trip!

    Bea, congrats on WL!

    Have a great day everyone!
  • Good morning,

It is a rainy day here but atleast it's not freezing rain we are just a bit above it. WFH day for me, but I will still need to run to STL because DD1 will need to take the car back she was test driving to buy because someone hit the car while it was parked in front of our house. Luckily the person actually came to the door and let her know so nothing out of pocket for her.

Cottage I know you are so excited for the trip you all drive safe and have a wonderful time.

Debbie so glad to hear that Kirby is feeling better you are such a good mommy.

Okay need to get back to work, Have a wonderful day everyone!
  • Good morning chicks!! Ruth and Linda, don't have too much fun without us! Debbie, so glad you are taking care of him. He's a lucky boy!

Yesterday threw me for quite a loop - my doctor hunted me down at work, and you know it's a bad sign when he leaves his cell phone no.! He said my spinal cord is severely compressed and it's urgent that I have it taken care of (surgery). So, I left work and went to the ER yesterday that he directed me to in a nearby town.
Gratefully, they didn't think it was so urgent to do yesterday, but definately soon. After talking with friends, we're getting a second opinion on which procedure to do, and right now I'm checking out of the hospital shortly. Never mind, my current doc just graduated this year, and that makes me nervous with neck surgery!
Soooo, I'll be poppin in when I can! I prayed for an answer that can be fixed, and I got it! (I was afraid I had MS....)
  • Pearlrose glad DD was not in the car. Very nice of the person to admit they did it.

Linda have a wonderful visit with Ruth

Debbie Kirby should adjust fine without his choppers. My mom's dog Barney (also a rescue) came comepletely tooth free! He can't seem to keep his tongue in his mouth which only adds to his cuteness. So happy he has a loving home with you, Kirk and Bing.

Yesterday was a bust. Home Depot was late with their delivery. I missed the meeting/dinner (really didn't feel like leaving the house yesterday in the cold rain) and am still awaiting to see if my car will be covered under warranty.

I did stay pretty much OP yesterday which helped for a nice water whoosh this morning. So I am back to pre Thanksgiving weight. I will update my ticker starting in January as I am not maintaining my lowest weight at all lol. Just staying around goal has been a struggle lately.

Ok enough babbling this girl needs to make a grocery list. Someone ate all the food again I wonder who that coukd be......Enjoy!
  • Good morning

Linda and Ruth. Are you staying in one of those stately victorian homes. Hope you get to walk on that nice walk along the beach. Have fun

Debbie. I second how good you are to take care of that lucky pup.

Pearlrose. That is terrible about the car, poor dd

Tammy. Glad to hear you are getting second opinions. Hugs to you.

I've been fighting a cold. Yesterday's plans went down the drain, hopefully today will pick up
    take care

  • Tammy glad you got an answer. I know a few people who had spinal cords compressed in the neck. Yes it is scary, but so happy it is not MS. I was really worried for you. I had a microdiscectomy in 2010 (L5/S1). my sciatica nerve was crushed which resulted in nerve damage, dragging my leg, couldn't lift it on y own and severe hip pain. I was told on a Friday and operated on a Monday. They removed the disc. I had to give up running because I don't have a cushion so to speak. Otherwise no complaints.
  • Good morning Jennifer. So glad you stuck on plan.
    have a nice day
    take care
    Sophie
  • Good morning Last heavy work day before my break (minus 3 work days) and it looks pretty relaxed. I'm looking forward to getting my car, desk, and work space cleaned first. That's one of the annoyances of WFH.

Ruth & Linda - Have a great time. I hope there will be some pictures

Tammy - Glad you got an answer and are getting it taken care of right away. It is nice to have a doctor who has lots of experience with the procedure you are getting. Let us know as you can. Thinking of you

I'll be back later for more catching up
  • Tammy - thoughts and prayers. I have 2 friends who went through similar surgeries, and both are in GREAT shape now. I will send happy thoughts and pixie dust - which fixes darn near everything.

My apple yesterday was the best - nice to not feel that I HAVE to have one, though. Just delicious.

Everyone, have a wonderful day. we have sunshine here for the day - I plan to turn my desk chair around so I can see it!!

    Be well -
  • Good morning.

Tammy - Sounds scary! But glad to hear that you now have an answer and can work towards feeling better.

Yesterday DH and I did some errands together and will be back at it today, trying to make a dent in our holiday shopping for the boys. Did a lot online too.

Will be baking some cookies today that will go in the freezer for a holiday party later this month. The recipe calls for milk and we have some leftover from Thanksgiving. (DH and I usually just have almond milk now.)

Tonight is our dinner group with parents of friends of DS2. (Got that?!) We are bringing a potato dish; always have to be sure there is a vegetarian side for DH now.

    Have a great day.
  • OH Tammy!!! What a shock but I am glad that 1. you now know what this is and 2. there seems to be a way to fix it. What will the recovery time be?

I weighed this morning because going forward I am going to weigh on Thursdays or Fridays (the morning after my second fast day of the week). The news should always be good then :-). This morning i had dropped 2.2 lbs. since Monday, but I had gained 1.4 on vacation so I probably just lost that and a little more. No matter; I'll take it. I haven't seen the 160s in a while. That plateau I was on earlier this year was so horrible, I will literally never forget it. On Atkins the whole summer and then SBD in the fall - some cheats, but not losing one ounce was traumatizing.

Today my cousin is coming to visit and stay with me for 5 days. When she first proposed this I felt a little overwhelmed, with everything that is going on with my parents and just getting back from Vegas, etc. But now I'm excited to see her.

Hope everyone has a great day - after work I have to pick up DS, go grocery shopping, set up a little camp bed for him to sleep on so my cousin can have his room, supervise him cleaning said room, and fold laundry while I wait for her to arrive from the airport. Whew!
  • Tammy, I'm am so thankful that it isn't MS, and glad that you are getting another opinion of how the surgery should be done. Thank you for keeping me informed yesterday, and I pray for an easy and full recovery for you.

to everyone else! I'm all packed and just waiting for my SILs. Sophie, we are staying at a Victorian home, just two blocks off the beach. We rent the same house every year and refer to it as our beach house.
  • Hi Tammy Saying a prayer for you!
Linda and Ruth always have the best time together! your house sounds dreamy!!! I'm sure there will be plenty of Shenanigans
*wave to everyone b/c I'm at work and under deadline
I've been hitting the reset button for me and listening to my body when I'm comfortable not full
eating ph 1 ish it Atkins and SBD had a baby it would be how I'm eating
not as High fat or low carb as atkins I'm enjoying 2% greek yogurt full fat cheese (in small amounts otherwise I have to buy twice the cheese since B only eats full fat) and dark meat chicken since it's easier with my Altered plumbing (I had Rny gastric bypass in 06)
Thus far I'm down 4 following the T day retoxing looking fwd to posting FB isn't the same as being home at 3fc

  • Just wanted to stop in and say good evening to everyone. Somehow I rarely manage to post in the morning, time just goes by too fast when I am getting ready for work and packing lunches, etc.

Ruth and Linda, have a great time.

Tammy, thoughts and prayers but at least now you have an answer.

Jennifer, I also had a water whoosh the last couple days (2.5 pounds); back to pre-Thanksgiving as well so now I can focus on maybe actually losing a pound.

Debbie, hope Kirby continues to recover quickly.

It's evening so my cup has decaf with a shot of SF peppermint syrup. Anyone else around that wants some?
