Wow! Winter Wednesday! November 19

  • Good early morning. I am not going to crab about our piddling amount of snow and way below normal temps! Folks to the south are really socked in. A friend near Buffalo told me the National Guard has been called out down there as they are expecting 72" of the white stuff. Beth, I hope you miss the brunt of it and it keeps hanging out to the west.

Panic is setting in today as I look around my house and see so many half-done purge and sort jobs and realize I have a new cleaning woman starting tomorrow and a lunch meeting here on Friday! For some reason, I did very little yesterday - probably because I felt like a chest cold was coming on. I have pet therapy this afternoon so need to get into fifth gear this morning. There is no way Michelle can clean if there is Christmas wrapping stuff on the diningroom table and unsorted stuff hanging around the upstairs rooms. ** Sigh **

I did spend some time yesterday researching a February trip for the two weeks the guys will be here doing flooring. I'd really like a week travelling in Florida followed by a week at a resort in Cuba but the logistics are strange. I'd forgotten the US doesn't fly to Cuba and can't see flying home from FL to catch a plane to Cuba! I may just stay home and save my pennies.

OK - time to gear up and move it. First on the list will be moving all the Christmas wrapping stuff to the cutting table in my sewing area which means I have to clear that area first. No second coffee until that job is done.

Stay safe and warm in this early Snowmageddon.
  • Well, we must not have much snow, but I am completely oblivious to the weather otherwise. I do know it was 15 degrees yesterday morning, and a -7 windchill. I only pitched a mild hissy fit realizing my DS didn't have gloves on!

Yesterday went WAY better than expected, considering my PT vet called off sick (again) and all her surgeries showed up. I finally told the last one that I just couldn't squeeze it in, which she was fine with. That allowed me to actually get a lunch break!

Today should be awesome since I only work a half day. Then I get a nap .
  • Good morning, Ruthie, and those to follow.

Seventy two inches of snow???? Really????? I somehow missed seeing that forecast on the news, but I'm sure thankful it's not happening here! We're supposed to warm up to 70* by Monday.

I just realized Thanksgiving is only a week away when my brother messaged me that he's dropping off a turkey today. That means next weekend we'll be putting up the tree and decorating for Christmas already! Holy smokes!!!! At least shopping will be easy this year - everyone is getting gift cards so they can buy exactly what they want.

OK, time to make breakfast, pack my lunch, and see what surprises today holds!
  • Morning! I just have a second to check in before I have to run.

Ruth, I am northeast of the worst of it. We probably have 4 or 5 inches on the ground but right now it is clear. I saw yesterday that the NYS thruway was closed from just past Rochester all the way to the PA border. I am SO glad I don't have any loved ones trying to travel this week! (and there is a 2nd round forecast for Thursday into Friday)

Cottage, I am a huge fan of gift cards. My SIL (who doesn't have kids) always complains she would rather get a "real" gift but I when it comes to teens/college kids cash is best.

    Got to go!
  • Good morning cold here no snow......I don't think we were expecting any...Maybe this will be the year I break down and buy snow tires.

Today is my Saturday. Ruth I would love a cleaning lady. I am neat and tidy, but I really don't enjoy cleaning like I used to. My 80 yo aunt who is perfectly able bodied has one. She loves it. She is ridiculously tidy and probably never needs to clean lol

Tammy glad you got a little break yesterday. I truly hope you get some answers tomorrow. We are all quite worried about you.

Linda I realized next week is Thanksgiving only when DS reminded me out picking him up Tuesday. I need to call my SIL for my assignment. I am going to volunteer for dessert. No desire or time to bake, but we have a great bakery. Besides I can leave the leftovers with her

Beth glad you are buried in I should check on my friend Donna who lives in Rochester. I send my nephews gift cards too. My parents are getting gift cards too, plus something small. We started doing it last year. So much easier and less money then shipping huge boxes! I try to send one box the first week of December with their Christmas and birthday presents. Mom is the 27th and my step dad is the 10th.

Joe, his dad and DS leave tomorrow for Wisconsin. I am going. north to Albany for my friend's graduation from K9 tomorrow. Thankfully Joe's tenant is taking care of the critters. I will go up on Friday to get his house in order before they come home and stop by on my way to get DS on Tuesday.

Time for a second cup, oh how I love Saturday
  • Good morning
