Grilled romaine never heard of doing that. Let us know how it turns out please
|
Good Morning and happy June!
I went upstairs and painted for an hour, figuring every little bit counts as we wind down here. I came back down for a short "nap" and now it's smoothie and off to the restaurant. It's a lovely day and I'm already excited to get back home. Lol. Have a great day everyone! |
Good morning, chicks! Yesterday was a beautiful day and I spent the whole afternoon outside doing yard and garden work. Today looks to be more of the same. June is my 2nd favorite month after May.
Jennifer, have a great ride! And good luck studying. Ruth, glad to hear your sale was a success. Enjoy your dinner tonight. Cottage, I will echo Jennifer- grilled romaine?? To all the chicks to come- have a great day!! ETA- Good morning, Debbie!! |
Good morning
ah, June. It lifts the spirits. Yesterday was such a lovely day. I too worked in the garden and had a lunch of lovely cream of asparagus soup using laughing cow instead of cream. Today we are having a bbq and are trying a recipe for picnic chicken from america test kitchen Cottage. I have had the romaine lettuce at a friends and it was delicious. Always meant to try it Everyone enjoy this lovely day and make the most of this month. The only problem is the mosquitoes at night take care sophie tt |
Hmmm....grilled Romaine? I gotta say, it sounds a bit weird. We will definately need an update, Cottage!
Jennifer - Have a beautiful ride! 3 days of phase I and I bet that scale drops 3-5 lbs. Beth, Sophie, Ruth and all others - good morning! I slept until 8 am?! What is wrong with the world?! It was lovely. (but does that mean I can't have a nap today?) It looks to be an absolutely gorgeous day out. We have church, then we'll probably go for a hike or something, and then back for a barbeque with friends (I'm bringing a salad :D ). Enjoy the gorgeous day! |
It's another crazy busy day around here. I'm hoping it will be the last intensive garden day of the spring. Once I buy and plant the last bed we should be good to go :crossed: Tim did say yesterday "so, if I make a bed you will plant?" hope he doesn't have any more plans this year. I told him any new beds will be kale and chard so he has been warned ;)
Tammy - extra sleep is always a good thing :) Sophie - I made a lovely lemon asparagus soup this week. It did use one potato but is so yummy. Beth - Enjoy the day in the garden Debbie - You get more done while I'm asleep then I do all day! Ruth - Enjoy dinner, sounds like fun :) Jennifer - I have purchased then donated several woks in my time. When I am tempted now I just remind myself of the nice woks I've owned and never used and just how much space they took up ;) Cottage - I will get pictures as things bloom. I am really happy with the butterfly/bee/hummingbird bed. I picked up some wonderful plants and I think it's going to fill in nicely. I can't wait to see the flowers on the butterfly bush. Add me to the people curious to hear about the grilled lettuce. I am going to grill the last of the stored butternut squashes today. I can't believe it lasted this long! Time to get back to my list. If we get on top of it all today we can play next weekend and I want to camp and kayak! |
Good morning,
Yesterday was cleaning and laundry and then half the family we went out for dinner (I was good and had a salad as I am back on Phase 1) and then we went bowling it was fun. There is a program called Kid's bowl free so I signed DD2 up for it and got a family pass for the rest of us for 24 dollars for the whole summer to bowl a few times a week. Jekel- I take Hyralunic acid capsules that I buy at Walmart (only place I have found locally that carries only that not some combination of it). Since I have been taking for a few years I no longer have knee pain that I used to get when running. Ruth I am trying to decide on a date to do our garage sale my basement is piling high with bags for it. Everyone else enjoy your weekend. Not sure what is on agenda for today, I am finishing up some cleaning and laundry and then we shall see. I also recaulked the bathroom this morning. |
I love the peonies, Ruth!
I'm not sure if we're going to grill today or not, it's gotten a bit overcast and Jake mentioned he'd like spaghetti for supper. But I will definitely try grilling romaine one day soon and let you all know how it is. I'm thinking a chunky bleu cheese or gorgonza dressing over it. I made a taco bake for lunches for the week and picked a head of buttercrunch lettuce from the garden for that. I picked an armload of kale and have that in the dehydrator now for kale chips. My DGD, Amber, was really impressed watching me pick from the garden-to-table and it really sunk in to her how much fresher and healthier our home-grown vegetables are. :) |
