Weekend at South Beach

Somebody please explain to my why I can't sleep in on the weekends! I know you get less sleep as you get older but this is silly.

I made the mistake of getting on the scales this morning. Grrrrr! Yesterday was a perfect SBD day but...... Let me just say that I hope the door back to ONEderland has not slammed and locked. Today will be a super pure Phase 1 day - I may even run stuff through fitday to see how many calories I've ingested. (I also have "forgotten" to take my diuretic for a couple of days. I've been on the road a bit and would need to pull a Port-a-Potty on a trailer. )

Welcome to all the new folks. I wish I could give everyone a personal welcome hug but I'm old and can't remember much.

About tahini, when I made the hummus recipe ( Hum us a tune), I could not find tahini way out here in the wilderness so I ground some sesame seeds in my coffee grinder - not the real one, the one I use for spices. it worked fine!

And Den - keep your fluffy butt in here so Ellis doesn't whine!

Butt tan lines? Too funny.

Ellis, cool it on those sausage rolls. And what's with the lamb sausage?

I need coffee and breakfast so will check in later.

GOOD MORNING RUTHIE!

Welcome back to the Beach! Don't worry, you'll be firmly back in one-de-land within a day or two and then you'll take up permanent residency. :D

My experience is that it takes a couple of days for the weight to catch up with you on the scale - so your meandering on the Beach with your pal is probably showing up now. By Monday, I think you'll have the results of staying true blue to the SBC. Having said that, I also meandered yesterday - was treated to a Vietnamese dinner - didn't have spring rolls or rice - but did have some of the scallion pancakes... two glasses of wine and some HC ice cream  EESH!

When I got home, I drank lots of wateer and was not happy with myself and those sloppy habits. However, I've forgiven my transgressions and am back on P1 although not Day !! I'm going to the Cape on the 26th - two weeks from today, in fact, and my plan is to keep any drinking to just a glass of wine. I'll aim for NO glasses til my friend arrives next Friday.

So much for my true confessions!

Have a great day on the Beach, Chicks and I'll be weighing in on Monday, too!

ellis 07-12-2003 08:41 AM

Ruth, why the heck would you want to sleep in on the weekend!? Sleeping in is for night owls, and that's just not us. You KNOW you'd feel rotten if you woke up at 9. You'd have missed at least 3 hours of the day. The best PART of the day! :D

Lamb sausages... oh, they're so good. But yes... I too have gained weight. A whole darned 3 1/2 pounds over night. Ruth, we are going to do well this weekend! :drill:

Anna, you piggie you. ;) It's a new day, hon. Today will be good for you. (HEAR ME!? :drill: )

Have a wonderful day, all!

operadog 07-12-2003 08:44 AM

Thanks Ellis! You too!

operadog 07-12-2003 08:49 AM

Thanks Ellis! You too! :grouphug:

Ruthxxx 07-12-2003 08:56 AM

OMG! Will you two stop the smooching! I'll have to move these posts to the appropriate forum!

scooby2 07-12-2003 09:02 AM

Good morning all - Ruth I have the same sleeping problem - I get up at 530am during the week so if I can sleep past 6am on the weekend i am doing well....it is 9am and I have been to the grocery store, had breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen! DH is gone for the balance of the day to a friends farm in West TN so I wont see him til later....DS is still asleep...amazing....have a great day at the beach!!! :)

2BFIT1 07-12-2003 10:12 AM

Hey, who was it yesterday that posted we were going to be good ALL day? :?: Don't make me get bootcamp on your bootie :drill: ~~just joking ~LOL.

I want to welcome all the newbies

I don't have time this morning to respond to everybody because I'm getting ready to go downstairs and help DH lay stone tile in the unfinished bathroom. Should end up being an all day affair, knowing us. He should be back any minute with the wet-saw, so I wanted to pop on here and wish everybody a wonderful day at the beach

I'll post later in the day :grouphug:

ellis 07-12-2003 10:24 AM

Sil, when you're finished that, could you pop over and help us drywall our rental apartment? :D
I'm not allowed to spend any more money on the house until the apartment is finished and RENTED! Better get up there and help DH. sigh.

Tahoemom 07-12-2003 11:13 AM

Good Morning everyone,

Ladies since misery loves company I am glad ( and yet sorry) to hear a few of you fell off of the wagon recently. What I love is how supportive everyone is and to help you get back on. So here is my shove too.....ugh!!!!

I have just finished my first week of P1. I have been pretty true to the program, a few slips with some grapes and watermellon (before I had finished the book). So the official total for week 1 is ......8 pounds gone :)
I dropped from 185 to 177. I have to admit I am a daily weigher, so the first day I saw 170s I was so pleased. It has been years ( 3 1/2 to be exact) since I have been in the 170s. Now my goal is the 160s (not since my daughter was born, we are planning her 6th birthday).

Now ladies get back going on the beach. I love that my towel is getting roomier.

Talk to you soon.

katrinabgood 07-12-2003 01:02 PM

The Boss...

Ruth...is the Boss that you speak so glowingly of, THE Boss? The one and only Boss? The one dh and I are going to see, opening night, next Tuesday at Giants Stadium??

or someone else?

I have an extra ticket, come on down!

Baby, we were born to run.......

Ruthxxx 07-12-2003 01:25 PM

You bet, Katrina. The ***** Is Back! There is no other Boss!
I'll be in Newark by 4!

dentrassi 07-12-2003 01:34 PM

LUCKY DUCKS!!!!

Rotobabe 07-12-2003 02:32 PM

Way to get back on the wagon ladies!

I'm going to have a tough day today...Angels season tickets...and I just LOVE ballpark food...=/

I'm going to take my snack in my purse and a big jug of water and hope I can enjoy the game...:)

SandiLu 07-12-2003 05:00 PM

Hey Rotobabe, at least you have a real team to cheer. My hometown team is...yes, OMG...The Tigers!!

Rotobabe 07-12-2003 09:50 PM

Sandi - you are right...hopefully you don't eat when you get depressed (over the Tigers)...but I love Warren Morris! Could be a long timer for the Tigers...good player...fun to watch!

I made it through the game today - it was SO hard, because our seats are right by the aisle where all of the vendors walk. But, I took pistacio nuts and water...and made it through - even with the people next to me eating hot dogs!

Day 5 is coming to a close - and I have a couple of new Phase I recipes that I will post on the Recipe Thread...

Suzanne 3FC 07-12-2003 11:49 PM

Hi guys! I'm sorry I've been MIA lately, I've had my hands overflowing with work. At least that kept them away from the pistachios!

I'm still following the plan, though I'm having a hard time eating as much as I should. I'm never hungry, so I have to have a conscious thought to eat! Weird. I'm not stepping on the scales, though, due to lack of exercise, and that always means disaster to me.

Things will be back to normal by Monday :)

It's good to see you all still here, and doing so well!!!!!!!!!

bobo1968 07-13-2003 12:21 AM

Hey, guess what?? I went to a birthday party today, and didn't even crave the cake!!! If you all knew me better, you'd know that birthday cake-the yellow kind with white icing- is my VERY favorite thing in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD!!!!!!!! I'm not kidding. I have been known to make that Crisco icing and lick it off the spoon!!!!!!! Yep-that's the reason I have about 40-50 pounds to lose right now!

LindaBC 07-13-2003 12:44 AM

Bobo, I'm not crazy about Crisco icing, but I've been known to eat a whole can of the bought chocolate frosting, one illicit spoonful at a time. Of course, I would never do that now. (;-D

bobo1968 07-13-2003 01:20 AM

Of course not Linda!!! I found something that really helps with chocolate cravings. I may have already posted this, but at Wal-mart in the sugar free candy section, they have some of the Creme Savers that are sugar free, and they have chocolate, caramel and fudge. They really are good too.

2BFIT1 07-13-2003 07:49 AM

Hooray for Bobo :dancer: :cb:

Not only did she resist the birthday cake but she has lost 5 pounds in the first 4 days at SB :bravo:

2BFIT1 07-13-2003 08:00 AM

I just got a chance to read the posts from yesterday and I found another loser :

Way to go, Tahoemom. Congrats on your 8 pound loss !!! :cp: :high: :bravo:

Ruthxxx 07-13-2003 08:01 AM

Good going, Bobo, but watch those sugar-free candies. They may not have real sugar but there are other carbs used in Frankenfoods. I watch for any ingredient that ends in -ose or -ol 'cuz they can affect weightloss for me.

Hey, Linda - the first thing I did when I got married (well nearly the first thing :D ) was to make a batch of chocolate butter icing and eat the whole bowl. I found out years later that my sister did the same thing. Addiction is hereditary.

I'm off to spend the day doing renovations at the Church but have my little SBD lunch all packed. I NEED to be back in ONEderland. My foot is aching from being in the door trying to hold it open!

Have a great Sunday.

ellis 07-13-2003 08:19 AM

Hey Suzanne... so glad you're still sticking with us!

Bobo and TahoeMom, I'm so happy for both of you! Congratulations!!

Ah, icing. My sister and I used to make bowls of icing often. Chocolate icing. Sometimes cream cheese icing. I do believe I'd better have some breakfast. Thank goodness there's no icing sugar in the house.

I've done much better the last two days and have lost 2 of the 3 1/2 pounds I packed on last week. So stupid to cheat...

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone! :grouphug:

scooby2 07-13-2003 08:20 AM

You can do it Ruth!!! I am struggling this weekend, yesterday went so well til afternoon, it is easier when I am at work!!!:dizzy:

Well off to prepare for church, have a great day!

dentrassi 07-13-2003 10:54 AM

Seems like quite a few of us (NOT generic usage...ME TOO!!) have been having a bit of a rough time lately. Let's get back on track TOGETHER!!! WE CAN DO THIS!! We are only hurting ourselves when we cheat.

Ellis-YAY!! Back on track and being stalked by groupies!!!!

Ruth-GOOD FOR YOU!! My MAJOR problem has been being underprepared. Taking your lunch with you is GREAT. I have to do more planning like that.

Bobo & Tahoemom-YAY!!! CONGRATULATIONS ON THE WEIGHT LOSS!!!!!!

Suzanne-Glad to see you here! I need to get back to work myself. Maybe that will force me to get organized.

Sil, Scooby, Roto, Sandilu, Linda and anyone else I missed-HI!!!!!!

1 more pound down!! I knew it would slow down, but I DO miss those 5 pound a week losses!!!!!! Trying to keep my eyes on the road and NOT on the Potato chip bushes next to it. (ACTUALLY that sounds kinda gross!!)

ellis 07-13-2003 11:08 AM

Yeah, Ruth... don't want to be eating those Sorbie candies. They cause havoc with your bowels.

Scooby, I hope you have a better day today!

Den, congratulations! Every pound is a huge success! One pound of butter... gone forever. :D

Tootsie 07-13-2003 03:10 PM

Starting Phase 1 tomorrow!!!!!!!

Starting Phase 1 tomorow!

How much have you guys lost on Phase 1?
The book says 8-13 pounds.
I want to lose about 20 pounds.

Is anyone else starting tomorrow?

I have been reading all of the posts and found them helpful.
I am vegetarian and have now found a way to use this plan.

I have my food all planned out for the week.

- Wish me luck!

:dizzy: :)

Sherr Harden 07-13-2003 03:16 PM

Tootsie: I started today.... 2nd meal into it...good luck to you!!

Ruthxxx 07-13-2003 04:08 PM

Good luck, Tootsie and Sherr, and welcome to the Beach.
I lost 8 pounds the first week but have had a bit of slippage. I hope it's still 8 pounds tomorrow.

LindaBC 07-13-2003 05:04 PM

I'm having a fairly good op weekend. A few illicit nibbles here and there which, I know, can really add up so I'm trying to keep a lid on it. Not much in the way of exercise though as we're having a rainy weekend. I climbed my waterfall today and cut back the ivy that was growing too thick and fast but that's the extent of my activities for the day. Still resting my puffy knee and sore foot as much as possible. I have been going blind trying to do this cross stitch picture. Egad! I can't understand people who actually enjoy doing this close work as a hobby! I keep getting screwed up on the counting and I'm afraid I'm going to end up with a teddy bear with a pointed head. Trust me, this is the last cross stitch project I'm ever going to do.

bobo1968 07-13-2003 09:35 PM

Oh gosh, I've already thrown the sugar free candy bags away and put the candy in a jar. I do remember they had 10 calories though. Is it ok if I eat it if I keep it under the recommended 75 calories a day, or should I not eat it at all if it has the -ose or -ol stuff?????
