Magical Monday on the Beach September 2

  • Today will have some magic in it if we truly believe in ourselves and our eating plan.

Yesterday went quite well. Lou came in and asked about his snack! I am so pround of him. He is embracing this change.

We did have a few hic ups but this is okay. We still had some corn to use up and I did have 4 tiny crackers to eat with my chicken salad.
All in all, a B+ day for the both of us.

Our fair is on and we can hear the noise from it and hear the booms from the fireworks...Charley hates the BOOMS.

We need 5 new tires (one for a replacement tire donut) so this is what we will be doing today!

Going to make turkey legs so am going to go look for an OP, delicious recipe.

Enjoy your day and know that you are worth this effort.

  • Good morning, Windsong and folk to follow. We had someone setting off fireworks around here last night - celebrating the end of the camping season, perhaps.

I am planning to actually "labour" on this Labour Day. I got absolutely nothing done here at home yesterday so today will be spent in the kitchen before the tomatoes take over the world. Have to clean it up before I start though as a friend and I feasted on King Crab legs last night and I was too tired to clean up properly when he left. I hate getting up to a messy kitchen but sometimes ...

My fingers are crossed that our sick student Mill guide is back today as I sure don't want to spend my morning in the Mill. It is supposed to rain off and on all day so there should be very few visitors. Today is also the day of the mass exodus from the campgrounds and we quaint villagers get our village back!

So ... one more coffee, kitchen clean-up and then I tackle the tomatoes, peppers and spaghetti squash that look lovely on the countertops but must be dealt with. I'm contemplating a "pasta" dinner tonight with the squash.

Raising my mug to a lazy or bust Labour Day - your choice!
  • Good morning

I'm heading to work early so I'm finishing up a big pot of refried beans and get my smoothie on track.

Lady Windsong, Thanks for getting us started this morning!

Ruth, I do hope the Mill person does show up today!

    Have a great day everyone!
  • Good morning We had one heck of a storm last night, over an hour of thunder, lightening, and downpours. Not sure how much rain we had, but at least 3 inches and the river is high. Not exactly the way folks around here want to spend the one year anniversary of Irene.

Today is a work day for me too. The SO is having minor surgery Wed. so I'm off the second half of the week. He is working today so I might as well get some work done. I'll work from home so I can play a little too. Today's food storage should include drying more squash and freezing peach puree cubes. Can't have too many peaches in the middle of winter! I'm still looking for ideas for our grape bounty. Maybe I'll make some fruit leather. I can puree the whole grape because I know they are organic. Hmm, I like that idea. Any ideas for immediate use?

We are buckling down around here. We aren't cutting out fruit but all grains are on hold and wheat and anything sweet from outside the house is banned.

Time to get a To Do list going and accomplish a few things.
  • Good morning. The heat wave here has broken. Tomorrow I have my routine colonoscopy so today is prep day. I had one over a decade ago so know what to expect. Ugh. DH and I are going to try a hike this morning; not sure how I'll do on an empty stomach.

    Have a great day.
  • Good morning,

Nice to wake up to a Monday morning and not have to get ready for work. i am enjoying the peace and quiet. The heat wave has finally broken we had a lot of rain in a quick storm yesterday as well.

Yesterday I felt so grimy after Six Flags first thing I did was jump in the shower.

I hope everyone enjoys their Labor Day including those that have to work. I think we will go to the lake today for a bit.
  • Happy Monday chicks. It is so nice to be off work today, a little housework, bill paying, SB cooking and sewing machine time for me will fill my day.

I am cooking SB today, because tomorrow I start and I know when I get home from work I am going to be looking for something - so hoping to have something ready for a snack.
  • 3rd day, phase 1... miserable.
    hey everyone.

i just found this forum (thankfully!) and i am on day 3 of phase 1 of southbeach (my first time going around).

I think this is the daily thread right? i didn't want to start a new one... so hopefully i'm in the right spot. So far I've lost 3.4 lbs (likely water weight) and i am happy about that...

but honestly, i didn't want to wake up this morning to have to face eggs (which i really dislike), or almond pancakes (which are iffy on this phase, but aren't that great anyway), or worse - the almond protein shake i made (which was gag inducing). i stayed in bed 2 hrs after waking up.

i feel like i am going to be sick today... and i just would really like to give up, or "alter" phase 1 for breakfast only.

i'm really not usually a complainer... but i need to get it off my chest. i'm going to try to keep up with phase 1 at least for 1 week, but week 2 i might end up altering breakfast. i really do not like eggs... i have to choke them down every morning. all the other breakfast recipes for phase 1 sort of suck... lol.
  • Good morning....err, afternoon everybody.
I hope everyone who is off work for this holiday Monday enjoys themselves & anyone who has to work, I hope you have a smooth and speedy day

Asc6429 Welcome to the forum & to South Beach!
There is no reason you have to eat eggs, or anything else you dislike for breakfast, or any other meal for that matter.
As long as its an on plan food (protien & veggie) you can have whatever you want (such as leftovers from last nights dinner ...cook once eat twice). You just need to think outside of the 'breakfast box'.
Also you may want to check out the recipe index for more phase 1 breakfast ideas.
  • Just saying hello. My calves are on fire from all the hiking and climbing I did this past weekend. I've got a phone interview for a Customer Service position w/ a Porsche dealership tomorrow, so keep your fingers crossed for me.
  • Oh, and hope you guys had a Happy Labor Day!
  • Good evening chicks! I'm baaaacck!

We had a decent weekend visiting granny and papa. Unfortunately, granny's mind is slipping (she fed the cat cat litter), but she did enjoy seeing the kids, even if she doesn't remember it anymore. And, I did pick up some yummy peaches....guess I won't be doing phase I!

I'm prepping right now - making tuna salad for lunches, and ham and mushroom breakfast casserole. Mmmm...
  • Evening everybody. Typical day of work for me. Which is OK since it is easier for me to stay OP. Cyndi I am with you, grain free, but allowing fruit in the evening. My system just seems out of whack lately. Hope to get a few descent rides in when I am off. Well DS just got home, so time to catch up on his day.

Welcome asc6249. I enjoy Greek yogurt smoothies with almond milk, ice, unsweetened cocoa power and SF PB
  • A late evening check in for me today. We are back from delivering DS2 to NH. Must have been ahead or north of the storms because we had sun all the way there yesterday, although wehit some rain the last hour or so today. Anyway, now we are empty-nesters!

School starts again tomorrow for me. No students until Thursday, but 2 days of planning and meetings.

I am sure the scale will yield an ugly number in the morning after all this traveling and such (can you say food porn!?!), so I am planning on doing phase 1 until at least the weekend, maybe more. I AM going to make my September weight loss goal. I have my menu planned for the week.

Welcome to asc6429! Have you checked out the recipe section for breakfast ideas? Don't worry about complaining; most of us here have gone through similar issues and often someone else will have good suggestions.

Good luck on the interview, Natasha!
Glad you had a good visit, Twynn.

Hi Jekel383! That sounds delicious. I want to PM you for the recipe (or portions...) but I can't figure out how! I want to try this so bad! If you see this message - please let me know what portions you use. I can probably figure it out on my own... but figured I'd ask as well! I'm not always the best at this stuff! Thanks so much!!!!
