Phase 1 orange juice?

  • I have just finished week1 of phase 1 and I have a question. I know OJ is on the no list but I have a powder medication that I must take every night mixed in 4oz of non carbonated liquid. I used to take it with slightly pulped oj which would mask the texture and taste. Now i tried to stick to plan 100% and use other drinks (water, ice tea, milk which was a bad idea) and its really difficult to tolerate. I broke down and had it with some juice last night because its just gross otherwise.

    Did i ruin all of my hard work this far? Is it ok to have that amount each night or should I continue to try and find alternatives? Suggestions?

    The medication is prevalite for those who might know it.
  • Could you take it in V-8? Might be worth a try and then you'll have one of your veggie servings.
    I'm sure someone more wide awake than I will have another suggestion.
  • The reason behind juices not being OK for Phase 1 is because of the natural sugars in them. Sugar is notorious for triggering cravings, and avoiding all sugars is the reasoning behind Phase 1. Have you considered taking your medication with sugar-free Crystal Light or a similar sugar-free drink flavoring? There is an orange flavored one that tastes a lot like orange juice that is pretty good.

    That being said, if you absolutely must have OJ, keep in mind that the sugar in it may cause cravings and make it difficult to stay on-plan.
