Whole grain vs. whole wheat
As I transition back to phase 2, I am thinking in the mornings of using half a sandwich thin to go with my breakfast (probably with a poached egg and some spinach yum!), and I'm curious if anyone knows, for SBD, would it be better to buy a whole grain or whole wheat version?
Anyone know of any low carb varieties they recommend? |
Ezekiel Bread is a good one.

Check the ingredients on "whole grain". That label is allowed for white bread with a little whole grain thrown in. Generally whole wheat is a better choice. There are a few companies that make real whole grain bread. Vermont Bread Company is one and Ezekiel is another.

It depends. Whole wheat is technically a whole grain. Like Cyndi said, it's most important to read the label and see what is actually in the food versus the buzz words on the package. Look for the grain to be the first ingredient, and if it is a flour, you want to stay away from "bleached" or "enriched" products.

For SBD, we're supposed to look for "100% whole grain". Others will (probably) have white flour in it.
