not unflavored, unsweetened. I can actually find plain, vanilla, and chocolate all unsweetened - silk, almond breeze, tempt, hemp bliss are a few but I know there are others

The containers said 'plain,' 'vanilla,' and 'chocolate.'
There was no option for unsweetened?

They must have been sweetened then. The unsweetened versions have a banner across the top of the carton saying "unsweetened."

Well as for myself and protein, if I have it for breakfast, it will be in the form of egg whites or breakfast meat substitute... But the smoothie I make by itself has 5g fiber (more if you add psyllium husk, etc.) It's cold, refreshing, takes a long time to drink, and definitely filling. However, you could add protein powder if you're worried about not getting enough in your diet.

I use blue diamond Unsweetened (no flavor). Even DW uses it and LOVES it!

Think about oatmeal as a dessert if you really want it - or even for dinner :) Good luck and glad things are getting better!
