Good morning, Jekel and the other Early Chicks. . Today should be a gardening day but, after Church, we are all going to attempt to organize the yard sale "stuff" in the Church Hall. I imagine I'll be short of physical energy by mid-afternoon!
I spent two hours yesterday fighting the battle of the Creeping Bellflower and made a bit of progress. Never let that "pretty little wildflower" get established in your garden. |
Good morning :coffee2:
So the exhibit looks great. MY DD and I spent the day in town and another friend joined us later in the afternoon. It wasn't actually as hard as I feared, no worse than being home, and I'm really glad I did it. Now the exhibit will stay up until the end of the month. We even sold a few small pieces yesterday, not something one can count on at this exhibit. Today I think I'm going to brave the annual bird walk at the Cove. I can always leave whenever I've had enough but it might be nice to be outside and see a few people. Then it's all quiet time and chores at home. I'm looking forward to some down time. Debbie- once again I'm so jealous. Alaska remains on top of my personal bucket list. Hoping it dries out enough to get some yard work in today! It's time to be outside more Ruth - I made that mistake with a wild geranium. ugh, I will never get it out. This year it's all garlic mustard, not my fault but it's everywhere. |
Back. I hit save and wandered off into Creeping Bellflower land.
Cyndi, I'm glad Julie's show went so well. Her photos are just stunning. I've saved some of the ones you have posted. So far I'm not battling Garlic Mustard but the darned Japanese Knotweed is way too aggressive. (Ironically, my parents brought the first plants to this property way back in the 1930's, never thinking their DD would be battling to eradicate it nearly 80 years later! Debbie, how long will you be in Alaska? It's on my bucket list too although I have been to our Canadian north. (Whitehorse for Christmas 1967 was memorable.) Time to break the fast and then get organized for Church. It'll be pretty casual dress this morning so we can tackle the sorting job. I hate yard sales but need to be part of the team. I usually look after the baking or the plants to avoid dealing with "junk" but we are not doing baking this time (Whew!) and I organize the plants here at home. I think a soak in the tub will be on the mid-afternoon agenda. ("Moonwatch" party tonight and I have the meat in the marinade already. The preview last night was spectacular!) Happy Sunday and beware of Creeping Bellflower, Garlic Mustard and Japanese Knotweed. |
:coffee: I stayed up to try to get a glimpse of the Supermoon, but it was too cloudy and all I saw that could be seen was an area in the sky that was brighter than the rest. :(
I'm glad your day went well yesterday, Cyndi, and hope you enjoy a nice walk today. Jeckel, enjoy your "Friday" and I hope it goes quickly so you can start your "weekend." Ruth, I have bell flowers in my perennial bed, but they don't seem to be the creeping sort. Is it a different variety of the plant? We're constantly waging a war with wild geranium and wild strawberry in the back yard, though. I'll be spending most of the day at my DD's. She's having a Thirty-One party this afternoon. I'd never heard of it before but it's gaining in popularity. They sell totes, purses, thermal bags, organizers, etc. I don't need anything but my two sister-in-laws and my daughter-in-law and I are all going over there together, so it should be a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon. |
Cottage - a friend of mine just had a 31 party yesterday, I didn't go (cuz then I can't spend $$!). I've seen some of it, they are quite nice.
Ruth - they are a pretty little species, aren't they? Great website BTW - for plant naive people like me! Cyndi - I think it's great you're getting out and enjoying your birds again. I loved the bio you did for Julie, it was perfect. I'm of course enjoying my Sunday morning quiet time, before going to church in a bit. I hope to work on my garden later, then off to our bible study. Dealing with conflict in marriage is tonight's topic, should be good! Oh - I made BBQ lime chicken last night, served it with fresh guac and sour cream, with black bean and corn salad. DELICIOUS!!! http://allrecipes.com/recipe/tinas-b...en/detail.aspx |
TwynnB, just checked out the recipe sounds fantastic. Was looking for something new to make and this sounds perfect!! Thanks for sharing

Good Morning:sunny:
We made it over the hills this morning....saw lots of elk and bighorn sheep. We cruised by the pool and it's looking inviting, as always. We'll be there at 9. This is is my most dreaded day...when I drop Bing off at his home away from home. Kirk is making a smoothie for us...glad he finally learned. Cyndi, I still think you'll make it up with us in the next few years. I'll see after this trip if I want to go every year or wait two. I'm glad your day went well and that you're going walking today. Ruth, I think I have all of the "weeds." I try to pull as many as possible. Enjoy church. jekel, happy friday! Your bike riding plans for tomorrow sound great! Linda, have fun at the party! Twynn, the recipe sounds great...when I get back I'll have to try! everyone else! I've got to get going...we head back this afternoon at 4.... |
