Top o' the mornin' to yez all. I have Baileys in my first coffee to celebrate Saturday, sunshine, warm weather and the Feast of St Patrick. What more could an Irishwoman want?

Once it's daylight, I'm going out behind the barn to check out my raised bed. I'll have to wade through the "lake" to get there but know it will be dry enough to plant those peas. I'm kind of hoping my Swiss chard survived this open winter but have my doubts. This afternoon I have to go to a nursing home to evaluate a dog and owner for Thera-Paws - been trying to do this since Christmas but the home was in lock-down from sickness and then the dog was in heat so I am determined to get it done today.

Whether you are Irish or not, have a great day. 'Tis definitely spring up here.

There's nothing but skim milk in my coffee, but Monica and I are planning to do it up right later today.

I'm off to Monica's for the weekend, just as soon I finish this coffee, and she tells me she has a fun weekend planned for us. And, when I get back home, the bathroom reno will finally be all finished!

I hope you get those peas planted today, Ruth. I don't plan to plant peas this year, but I do want to get my chard, spinach and lettuces in next weekend.

Good morning, Happy St. Patrick's Day! Very foggy here and 30 degrees, I was hoping for it to be a little milder, wanted to ride the motorcycle to work, will probably have to wait til tomorrow.

We finally decided last night that we were going to Valley Forge today (is that near you Cottage?), especially since DS is studying it in school right now. We'll stay overnight, maybe stop and the mall, and head home. It's been a stressful year, and we need to get away without stressors for just a wee bit.

And the coffee is good and strong. No bailey's though!

Ruth - I'm going to get peas and kale in this weekend too. The 10 day forecast is all above freezing here so I'm going for it!

Cottage - what a perfect way to do renovations! I know you will have a fun weekend with Monica and the girls.

Holly - the next three days look perfect for riding. Hope you get out and hope the customers are in extra good and patient spirits this weekend.

Twynn - Kids are so good at reminding us to slow down. Enjoy your weekend away. Hope it's the recharge you need.

Not sure what's happening around here this weekend. Basketball for sure today then some birding tomorrow. If DW is up to it we will do a day trip to the ocean (haven't been there since early November!) if she's tired we will just bird the Connecticut, always good this time of year. It is nice to be able to get out a little. Other than that some chores, some cooking, and walks outside for me. I love the early spring weather. Then tonight I'm heading into the yard to spy on woodcocks. I hear them at dusk but have never seen their crazy mating dances and really want to.

Believe it or not, I just sat on the back deck (in my coat), sipped my second coffee (no Baileys) and admired the morning. The robins are singing and the cardinals are whistling and the mourning doves are cooing. I am convinced this is Spring and nobody is going to change my mind!

Twynn, I wish I could join you at Valley Forge. It's only a half hour from Cottage! A weekend away is always a good thing.

Cottage, wishing you and the fair Monica plus children a delightful weekend. What a good day to leave the guys (and the DIL?) to finish the job.

Julie, I used to go with a man who had a Vincent and rode many places behind him. I never did learn to drive a motorcycle but sure would have loved one. I guess 73 might be a tad old to start, right? There;s a fun group of older retired folks who ride and come to Bob's Diner once a month for breakfast. They call themselves "The Old Ba$tards" after this township and are a really fun group. My pal Ernie Olivo is the current President.

Cyndi, I'll be thinking of you when I bung in those peas today. I'm afraid I will have to wait until the regular garden is dry enough to plant the kale. (I don't do long season crops in my precious raised bed.) I hear the woodcocks but have never seen one. There's lots of bird chorus out there this morning - wish you were here to help me sort it out.

Cyndi, I'm glad you two are getting out! I'm amazed how easy it is to go from state to state. Living right in the middle of our state it's 200 miles in any direction to get out.

Me, continuing projects...I've got a sewing project to complete for DH, then breakfast with mom and her group. I'm trying to make some headway on our dining room floor which needs sanding...a project which agitates Kirk because all he wants to do is get "his projects" done. I'll see what happens.

I bought corned beef from Whole Foods yesterday. It's from one of their "good meat" companies and lacks the nitrites, etc. It's one of Kirks favorites yet I want to try a healthier version.

We're off to maple weekend this morning and then to the first cookout of the year this afternoon. I love this great weather but I was hoping to accomplish a bit more around the house this winter before we started the summer schedule craziness. Will just have to fit in all of the chores in bits and pieces of time here and there.

Debbie - When we moved 10 years ago one of our requirements was some place near 91 so we could get anywhere in NE easily. One of the things I love best about where we live, I can get to mtns, ocean, lakes, and big cities in 3 hours or less but I still get to live in my peaceful little town. Hope your day includes you time!

Kelly - enjoy the maple festival. I have to come clean and admit I keep a pint of gifted maple syrup in my fridge. I use it more as seasoning than sweetener and one pint will last me for a full year. It's one of the pleasures of living where we do. Speaking of, my DB, SIL, and nieces are moving back to the Rochester area this summer. Can't wait to visit them and to bird Montezuma.

Aaaaarrrrrgggghhhh! Just back from sloshing through the water and discovered my raised bed is still frozen except for the top 5 inches. I guess the peas need to wait another few days! Bummer but I will get some quilting done this afternoon.

It seems that unlike me, you all got out there an enjoyed your day! I slept a lot. Must be spring allergies kicking in? Plan on hitting the gym and trader joe's tomorrow. But now, the bed is back to calling me. So sad!

Good morning. I have a wee bit of a headache this morning which my "Foglifter" coffee will fix. Methinks we may have had a bit too much wine with the St. Patrick's Day dinner last night. I stayed off the scale as I know it is up from salty corned beef. I am delighted that Claire took home the leftovers.

A high of 72ºF is predicted for today and more good stuff to come over the next two weeks so I guess March will exit like a lamb. Today I will be sure to take a dog out for a good walk. It'll probably be Disney who I feel has been a bit neglected lately. Jazz has been doing most of the doggie visiting work. I may also do some cutting down of old perennials in the front bed. I still can't believe I can do that so early this year. At the end of March last year the ground was still frozen solid and I had a frozen lake in the dogyard.

Our minister is very sick so there is no Church this morning. Methinks I may soak in the tub for a while with more coffee and a book. Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest, right?

Three more weeks until Easter. Those darned Cadbury mini-eggs are in the stores. I'm so glad we don't have Peeps up here.

While I did get out for a walk with the pup, yesterday was one of the most yucky days in recent memory. Fortunately, with the support of all of you I know they get better. Food was awful, too, but I do know how to get back on track right away.

DH finally agreed to help with the floor project. We have moved all the furniture out, except the china hutch which needs to be emptied first. I'm working on that. I think he really hates having everything torn apart but it's the only way it will get done. I'm crossing my fingers that this is a stress free process. It would have been alot easier if we had started yesterday since I have "real work" tomorrow. Oh well.

Good morning I'm defrosting frozen pumpkin for DW's breakfast so I have a few minutes

Ruth - Enjoy your found time this morning. My beds were frozen in the middle. I used my handy dandy garden weasel to agitate the soil then put a row cover on so it should be warm enough to work today. I was very excited to find a bed full of garlic sprouts! I planted it before everything went crazy here and forgot all about it. What a great surprise.

Jenn - I need to get to TJ's one of these days too. Maybe now that the weather is nicer I'll be more inclined to make the drive.

Debbie - hoping today is easier in every way.

I'm not sure what our day will hold. Any birding will be near home but we are still hoping to get to Plum Island very soon. I think I'll pull my bike out today and play in my garden. I bought pea, chard, and parsley seeds and a friend called and offered me some kale starts. I'm going to plant lots of peas so I can eat pea shoots while I'm waiting for everything else to grow I so love my garden

Good Morning Everyone, it is going to be another beautiful day here, yesterday it was in the high 70's, Spring really came upon us fast. (hope it stays)

I had a doctor appt on Friday, not awful news or anything, more like they didn't have the knowledge I thought they should have for me, and when I left there I stopped to pick up dinner. Actually bought fast food and took it home and ate, some fries and the sandwich, but only half the bun. About an hour later I felt terrible and the next morning when I woke up I felt just awful and this terrible hunger in my gut. I almost think my body was telling me I ate some sort of poison! I do not miss that type of food and I can't believe I ever enjoyed it. Saturday back to normal SB for me and everything is so much better.

What did I learn, don't let life's ups and downs rule what you grab to eat, keep your head about you and you won't add to your troubles by feeling crappy because of what you ate on top of everything else going on.

All this talk of gardening, I can't wait to get going on yard work here, need the ground to dry up alittle first.
