Birthday Cake Or

My birthday is next week, and every year my DH has always made me a homemade from scratch cake (usually carrot cake). He was planning on doing that again this year, except I told him I have been doing so good, that I may not want that.

So, does anyone have a reciepe for a cake or something that is SB friendly that you have made and like, and that doesn't use fake sugar (I will use Agava). Is there such a thing. Even if it is less sugar than a normal cake. I read about the pumpkin cheesecakes, what are those like.

In the past when he made a cake, 9x13, it is just the two of us, and yes, withing a week we would eat the whole thing. And not think twice.

Just looking for some ideas. Thanks

Good morning! I am not on South Beach so I can't comment on making the recipe more friendly, but I understand not wanting to derail process.

If you decide to make the cake you can always only allow a reasonable piece on birthday and then throw the rest out. I know that seems extreme, but it is an option.

Hopefully there will be a good cake option that you can enjoy through the week and not worry about being off the diet instead. :)

Happy Birthday Early! Your husband sounds like a good guy.

There is a recipe for carrot cake with agave that Lexisss posted awhile back. Check the Phase 2 desserts for that and lot of other ideas. I am sure you will find some appealing options :)

When I was losing I avoided even having stuff like that in the house. Now that I'm maintaining I do actually go out and buy a single piece of carrot cake for my birthday every year. While it isn't on plan it is a lot better for me than having even a small cake in the house.

Found it http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/dess...ve-nectar.html

Cyndi, thank you for finding that, I think that may be the answer.

I have done real good with all the sweet stuff in our house (for DH), it doesn't bother me. I think I could even just have one piece of regular cake and take the rest to work. But I like having something in the freezer that I can take one piece out once in awhile and enjoy with coffee. I do that with the bean brownies and it works good for me. I may have one a week, but they are there if I want one.

Thanks for your searching for me.

I just noticed that someone turned it into cupcakes. If you did that you could freeze the rest :)
